Todays youth will never appreciate discovering a new band while randomly choosing files to download over Limewire as you roll the dice on possibly nuking your computer. Great times.
I was introduced to Thrice back in 2002 by in a kid in my freshman dorm, so naturally this and Illusion of Safety were the first Albums I ever heard (obviously....they were the only LPs released up until that point), and I still and will always, stand by my belief that these two albums are the best ones and the version of Thrice I like best. Artist in the Ambulance, in my opinion, is the last Album of this version of Thrice, the version that still has hard and aggressive elements and before they started to sound like they wanted to be a slower version of the Mars Volta (BTW, DeLoused in the Comatorium is one of the BEST albums of all time, and unfortunately the Mars Volta's only good album....it was sooo good that they must have used up all their talent and creativity on it)
I think it’s more amazing and commendable that they’ve evolved their sound and direction consistently only 2 decades while staying true to themselves. Because I first heard and fell in love with Illusion of Safety possibly makes me appreciate the journey and music even that much more. Btw, also love Mars Volta as one of my faves ever. Frances the Mute and Amputechture were both great albums, at least had some great songs.. that are super long. After that their sound changed more with their first big change of drummers/direction.
Yeah they kinda lost me after TAITA... although that's probably a me thing too as I had a lot going on in the mid 200s. TAITA and The Illusion Of Safety are their career highs to me but a lot of that is probsbly down to nostalgia

Id like to thank the dumb@ss who threw away a "diamond in the rough" of a CD back in the day... leaving me to find it in the used cd section and discover my favorite band of all time.😁 In 2002 i was a lil punk rock d0uchebag searching thru the "used" section at a local cd shop.... i came across the green "hopelessly devoted to you" promotional compilation/album for 99¢.... i copped that sh*t real quick, for 2 reasons: the price, and the fact i was always looking for new bands to check out. I may have hears thrice before, but this is when i became a true fan. I had about 7 tracks on that comp. that i LOVED (including thrice "betrayal is a symptom") From there i downloaded every thrice song i could and bought Identity Crisis and Illusion of Safety. Dustin Kensrue and Thrice became my fav artists/band from that point forward in life. Mostly due to the 2 albums i mentioned AND The Artist in the Ambulance. I wasnt too happy with their musical change/exploration/growth portrayed on Vheissu (sp?) and later releases. It was good, but it wasnt what i fell in love with. It wasnt that same sound that propelled my thru my teenage years and essentially became the themesongs to the best/worst times of my life. Im in my mid 30s now and im still rocking those 3 albums, frequently. Those albums have been played on my systems more than ANY other artists' music in my entire life.... and that's saying something cuz im a music freak. Thrice, from the early 2000's, is my all time favorite and most played band. Dustin's scream strikes something deep within me that i cant explain. Ive pored over his lyrics for countless hours. Always finding new meaning. Ill shut up😂, but i simply cannot concisely put into words how much the band's music has fueled my passion for life through the years as i grew up and now as a grown man. (Sorry for leaving a "novel" in the comment section😂)
This is how it feels for me when I hear a song in my head just waiting to be made. Dustin made a song about how it is. That's sick. Thrice for breakfast in the am! \mXm/
One of the best solos in this type of music. Best solo ever in my opinion. Love how it goes back and forth between the two guitars and plays, calls, repeats, etc.

This album is a masterpiece

@@scottp4357 Even though it wasn't really my jam I really respected the artistic integrity of what they did pre-hiatus. Now I'm not so sure
@@rno2worriesx They evolved into a shit band.
I've been enjoying this album for many years now and it is still one of the best most kick ass rock albums ever
Still such a catchy tune! Even after almost a decade of listening to this band myself
Replying 9 Years Later - It is one of the absolute best
Got this CD the day it came out... I'm sitting here on 6/30/2016 sweating because it still sounds AMAZING
LYRICS :
In my head everything was perfect
and every note resounds in harmony
all I seem to offer up are discords
and every note I sing sounds out of key
and every time I play with passion
I start breaking strings
and my voice cracks
when I sing from my heart
guess that's the price
I've got to pay to know that I'm alive
this melody is tearing me apart
[x2]
So now what do I have to show
and what price do I have to pay
But like a saiyan I won't grow
unless I'm battered in the fray
'Cause we're all in the same machine
each one with his own broken dreams
passion gives way to failure
so let's all try and understand
you take my hand and I'll take yours
you take my hand and I'll take yours
take my hand and I'll take yours
let our passion bleed
this is the song that sparked my interest in playing the guitar. Heard it in a 411 skate video, haha.
And in a Nintendo game before that, Im sure

Love conquers all ❤ !!! 🤘( P&B)🤟
holy moly!!!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!
Nice song
The beginning sounds like Doom E1M1 stage music.
+Slick Vic it's taken from the game T&C on NES
I cannot believe it has taken me over 20 years to realise that the riff from this is E1M1 from the original Doom soundtrack... Mind blown.
it’s from the video game T&C skate design my guy
@@TheGearChatakshually it’s t&c surf designs🤓☝️
