  • I first met EJ on Hollywood Blvd in 2013. At the time, EJ was an 18-year-old homeless youth trying to survive while learning about this scary world we all live in.
EJ's real name is Daniel, and he is now 26 years old. EJ was his street name. It's very common for homeless people to not use their real names. Daniel has been off the streets for five years now. He was lucky. A good samaritan helped Daniel out with a place to live and a job to provide a purpose.
As of today, EJ's original video interview on Invisible People has 13,711,311 views and growing. It's our most-watched video! Many of you have asked countless times for an update on EJ, so I am glad Daniel and I were able to make this happen.
Watch Daniel's first interview here: EJ is 18. He told me he has been homeless for 11 years. • EJ is 18. He told me h...
While Daniel's story is a happy one, there are tens of thousands of homeless youth that need help. Please click here invisiblepeople.tv/get-involved to tweet, call, or email your state and federal legislators to tell them ending homelessness is a priority to you.

    About Invisible People
There is a direct correlation between what the general public perceives about homelessness and how it affects policy change. Most people blame homelessness on the person experiencing it instead of the increasing shortage of affordable housing, lack of employment, childhood trauma, lack of a living wage, or the countless reasons that put a person at risk. This lack of understanding creates a dangerous cycle of misperception that leads to the inability to effectively address the root causes of homelessness.
We imagine a world where everyone has a place to call home. Each day, we work to fight homelessness by giving it a face while educating individuals about the systemic issues that contribute to its existence. Through storytelling, education, news, and activism, we are changing the narrative on homelessness.
This isn’t just talk. Each year, our groundbreaking educational content reaches more than a billion people across the globe. Our real and unfiltered stories of homelessness shatter stereotypes, demand attention and deliver a call-to-action that is being answered by governments, major brands, nonprofit organizations, and everyday citizens just like you.
However, there is more work to be done on the road ahead. Homelessness is undoubtedly one of our biggest societal issues today and will only continue to grow if we don’t take action now.
Invisible People is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to educating the public about homelessness through innovative storytelling, news, and advocacy. Since our launch in 2008, Invisible People has become a pioneer and trusted resource for inspiring action and raising awareness in support of advocacy, policy change and thoughtful dialogue around poverty in North America and the United Kingdom.

I was living with my dad from 8213 I came back to live with my mom to New Mexico she started getting very abusive and beating me up continuously she was an alcoholic addict. I had it been back more than a month when she kicked me out on the street I was 13 gonna be 14 at the end of the summer I literally started sleeping outside park benches the mountains we live by the mountand friends cars staying out with friends in random friends house's couch surfing of course I was working at a grocery store. And I talked to my best friend's mom who allowed me to stay at her house however the brother got very upset and took my paychecks every week so I stayed broke I had no money for nothing feminine products shampoo food Nothing. It's really hard to intend to end up moving in with the cousin they were smoking crack every week it was horrible horrible experience I'm autistic and attention deficit and that was something that I was not into but was forced into. My mom heard only to take me back only to kick me back out not even a day or 2 later that was the last time I I trusted my mom would help I had to drop out of the 10th grade and that I'm afraid ended up getting GED. By 19 I was gonna kill myself i couldn't find a reason to go on it was a horrible life. I had men in their 30s wanting to be with me when i was underage. Give me free cars and places to live but because I was molested in abuse at such a young age because my mom allowed the men to do whatever, I was scared and rather live homeless. Then in those 4 situations... That's where one of my biggest mistakes came when I get up getting pregnant. I went to college and got an AA.
Only to be abused by the father I left him for someone else only to be abused by him I left him for someone else only to be abused and have another child by him. I ended up getting BA...blood, sweat and tears,
no matter how hard I tried I could not change the abuse that was about to take place for me and my Children, I did leave after 10 years with cancer, A trash bag of clothes for my girls and nothing else.
I ended up moving in with my cousin I couldn't get out of the bed 4, 6 months that's when we found out I had cancer.
It was a surreal situation I was in my late 20s early 30s when this happened. I was able to make it out of that only to be continually abused by the last father of my child, because he continued to fight me for custody, Because he came from an influential family he was able to continually abuse me on the girls. My girls turned on me eventually calling CYFD stating that I was abusing them. You name it..they accused me, so they could tranp around-the-clock, After 12 calls I stopped counting. I finally left that town moved on and started to accelerate really well for myself, I taught special needs kiddos managed a coupke for stores.
I worked none stop for years, bought a used car,, payed it off right away and got a loan for a house..which I have been in since 2019.
Since than I was always renting rooms ..as the rent is crazy here with low pay.
Both of my girls turned out to be addicts. One of food, alcohol.and drugs, she is trying to pull herself together and 1 is super addicted to fentynal and sex.
      I currently raise her son.
Last year because all of the stress I almost passed away again and needed to have an emergency Hysterectomy
I have carried God with me in my heart and have always still tried to be the best person that I could be and keep moving forward. The reason why so many people was moved by you EJ was because of how earnest, sweet-natured you were/are , you're like the boy next door who wasn't allowed to have a home. So you wandered and I as well 14 million other people love that you wandered in front of Mark's camera and that a life of purpose that you always wanted is now yours. EJ was acting. He was never in foster care, he wasnt on the streets as a minor, he knew good and well at the time of the original video that his medical history would prevent enlistment in any military branch, the name he gave is the initials of his sister and her boyfriend at the time who were letting him stay with them. His parents and stepparent are still alive, or were at the time of the video at least. He tried to pressure me into moving weed in an illegal manner until i ended the phone call (to save his own skin from his arrest) and talked shit to me when i refused again. The man who took him off the streets and set him up for his current success hired him as an escort. The channel knows he's lying and doesn't care because they got their poster boy.

First of all, no where did she say she left her child, she might've took care of her child while she is in school, or her child might be taken care of by the father. Secondly, why's there so much hatred towards a woman that did nothing wrong, even if she left her child, that is the best thing for her to do for her child. What else is she going to do? Wonder on the streets and watch her child starve to death?
Regardless of what happened, can we just appreciate that this woman is trying to share a bit of inspiration to others right now?

After I turned 18 I signed myself out of foster care here in Canada to go live with relatives but after a few months I found myself homeless for the first time, it was scary, I had no choice to adapt to the lifestyle and learn to survive on the streets, I pandhandled everyday, my first priority was buying food, hygiene stuff, and other necessities that would last me a week and if I was lucky enough I'd get myself a motel room for couple or few days, most days panhandling was good but there were some days it wasn't and that was hard, after 3 years waiting on the social housing list I finally got a place in a nice 10 unit apartment building and the neighbors are good as well, I secured a full time job with a grocery store, I obtained my GED, promoted to Meats & Deli Supervisor, and I'm now a Department Manager for frozen foods, dairy, and fresh produce departments.. I'm 26 years old and life has been turning out good for me despite the beginning of my young adulthood, I have a common law wife now to, have a child on the way, and I will make sure my child will never experience what I had to go through in my early years, I will make sure my child will experience a childhood like any child should.

Pain demands to be felt. Once you feel the pain your life will change. Drugs don’t help you at all, they just dull the pain, which doesn’t help you feel the pain, it just delays the pain for later and in fact actually increases the pain you are going to have to feel. So feel the pain that you have right now, because it will only get worse if you wait.
