I just watched 'Shogun' for the first time and I did like Chamberlain's casting, which was more in an every man vein and which worked well. Chamberlain is an innately likable actor, he can handle historical roles (he looks, sounds and moves well in those parts), he has a warmth and a sense of fun too.
His legacy for me is the thorn birds, thats how i will always remember him, and the obvious reason to hes gods gift to woman, dnt care if he's gay or not, hes a lovely guy, cant believe he will be 80 the end of this month

He reminds me my pipe organ teacher, an old fashioned, kind gentleman and gifted musician who have put up with a not so hard-working student like me
Mary!
