Its sad to say I forgot about this song being deployed overseas for 2 years. My best friend back home passed away 2 months ago and bringing back the life in this song made me cry instantly. It exactly what i'm feeling. I'm going to record this cover for my Voice audition. Hopefully I can sing it without crying. Such a beautiful song.
The only problem I have with this video is the fact that the song is half-step or more up from the original and that just further contributed to her potential vocal damage later on. I'm glad she was still able to hit those high notes though!
That wasn’t any contribution to her vocal damage in the 2014-2017 eras. Her voice and mix were better in 2012/2013 than they were even in her idol days. The damage was caused by her two extremely difficult pregnancies where she had to be hospitalized, vomited all day every day, lost her voice fully both times, and had to do vocal rest. Her voice is back in full now, she’s just chosen not to work with a coach which results in her pulling her chest voice up rather than mixing. It appears as decreased range but it’s not, it’s more of her just lacking a mix. For this song she only raised it so she could do the lower notes easier here as her low notes didn’t come as easy then as they do now. She could likely easily sing the lows now, maybe even a half-step lower. Even at her worst in 2007 and 2015, she could’ve outsang 3/4 of the modern music industry.
Pfft i'm glad it wasn't a single. I'm selfish and want it all to myself. Also because it wasn't a single it was ruined by being overplayed on the radio.
