I share your dream of building near a source of river. But my advise is that if it will be possible, build around the actual source of that particular river because if you build down stream and the place develops, stuffs you don't want from neighbors upstream who don't cherish the river will drain down to you and you will no longer love your dream. Or get a pond like river which doesn't flow at all. Or if you can afford buy around the entire source of the river.
