This is an example of something that is sustainable in regards to personal transportation and energy. Google how solar panels work. With that amount of surface area, and depending on the size of his batteries. It would take 1-3 days under perfect conditions to fully charge his batteries. Having these solar panels will definitely extend his range a bit, but they aren't enough to keep it fully charged alone as a daily driver.
