How'd it go?
I hope u did good on your test
@Rei Ren oop
@Rei Ren lol, was it a difficult test?
They either bombed it or they did okay.
i have seen many videos. either they are time taking or they clarify the words. ma'am you cleared the doubts from the root. one must know parts of speech first to make sentence appropriately. thank you so so much
S&T Dude-san, Thank you so much for the kind comment. I'm glad you enjoyed the lesson! (^^)
Notes from this video:
TE form
食べる(taberu; eat)⇒食べて(tabete)
*some end in DE too like 読んで (yonde)
Usages:
Please + verb, you may/may not + verb, is/are + verb + ing, would you + verb / you would + verb.
食べて ください (tabete kudasai; Please eat)
食べて もいいです (tabete moiidesu; you may eat)
食べて はだめです (tabete wadamedesu; you mat not eat)
食べて います (tabete imasu; I am eating)
食べて くれます か? (tabete kuremasu ka?; would you eat?)
Listing multiple actions in one sentence:
起きて (okite; wake up)
して (shite; do)
食べて (tabete; eat)
起きて して 食べて てべ手 行きます。
私は 六時に 起きて ヨガを して 朝ご飯を 食べて 所ごとに 行きます。
watashi wa roku-ji ni okite yoga wo shite asagohan wo tabete shigoto ni ikimasu.
I wake up at six, do yoga, eat breakfast, and go to work.
Also translates to:
I will wake up at six, will do yoga, will eat breakfast and will go to work.
私は 六時に 起きて ヨガを して 朝ご飯を 食べて 所ごとに 行きました。
I woke up at six, did yoga, ate breakfast, and went to work.
*the TE form is tense neutral and is dependent on the tense of the last verb.
*the TE form can be used in formal and informal speech
Formal:
起きて して 食べて 行きます。(masu form)
Informal:
起きて して 食べて 行く。 (plain form)
.............
ru verb = 食べる(taberu - eat - plain form)
u verb = 飲む (nomu - drink - plain form)
irregular verbs = する (suru - do - plain form) 来る (kuru - come - plain form)

The best Te From lesson ever watched on youtube. The action connection displayed is crucial for a better understanding.
よく作り込まれてる。画の動き、アニメーションも相当練ってあるのが分かる。1秒たりとも無駄が無く、動画・ナレーション共に非常に明快な解説。感服しました。

ゆこ先生のレッスンが好きです!

Annaさん、ありがとうございます。(^^)
One of the best video I found on this topic, very clear or well organized, thank you very much, +1 subscriber
I have come to understand that the て-form just like particle で (as in である ->です) has an implied meaning of "in the state/condition/form of". For example, when you say 私は食べています you are literally saying "I exist in the state of eating".
Its being used with the te form which makes it different
Hans B I don’t want to be that person, but should you be using the hiragana “ha” instead of “wa” when using it as a topic marker? You pronounce the hiragana “ha” as “wa”.
@@baconandeggs9113 yes
@@baconandeggs9113 You only pronounce "ha" as "wa" when it's being used as a topic marker. Much like hiragana "wo", when it's used as an object particle, it's pronounced like "o".
Could anyone of you Guys Tell me the difference, between normal 食べます。 And 食べています。 ? So tabete imasu means literally '' I am going to eat?" Or " I am currently eating." ?
excellent and more than excellent: I have seen different videos for learning Japanese, but you are the best at all. Thank you very much

Very good explanation. Thank you :)
Thank you for the lesson
You are good teacher
Thank you so much Yuko Sensei your videos are very helpful ❤❤❤
Thank you for the great video - I used this to refresh my memory after genki 1, and was happy to learn that everything in the book regarding the て form has still been retained in my memory (maybe anki helped ;)). You explain it a lot better than the first book does, though! Even though the て/で form is neutral, I suppose "requests" would still be considered informal if you leave ください out? For example: 見てください vs. just 見て (please look vs. look).
Keep up the great work! I'll definitely be watching even more when I have enough time and motivation to start with the next book, and might want some extra input on grammar. :)
mkl-san, You are correct. Informal requests are the only cases where you can end a phrase with a TE Form.
見て Look! (Informal) --> 見てください Please look! (Formal)
ちょっと待って!Wait a second! (Informal) --> ちょっと待ってください Please wait for a moment (Formal)
I use GENKI 1 at the college I teach. 日本語の勉強、がんばってください。:)

こんにちは ゆうこ先生
I found your channel about a fortnight ago and I fell in love with your teaching method and it would mean so much if you could help answer this question.
I have been reading some Japanese children stories lately and I have a question about the te- form of "run"
どうして「走る」の「てー」形は「走って」、しかし「見る」と「起きる」の「てー」形は「見て」と「起きて」?
I thought because all of these words end with "iru", hashiru would also become "hashitte"?
Sorry if the question above is grammatically incorrect. Thank you in advance.
ありがとうございますゆこ先生!I look forward to when I am able to take the course🙏🏼
I look forward to having you as my student, Karen-san. :)
TE form conjugation for every group and subgroup:
Group 1: divided into 5 subgroups
Subgroup 1: う、つ、る --> って
Example: がんばる(to work hard) turns into がんばって
Subgroup 2: ぬ、ぶ、む --> んで
Example: のむ(to drink) turns into のんで
Subgroup 3: く --> いて
Example: あるく(to walk) turns into あるいて
EXCEPTION: いく(to go) does NOT turn into いいて but into いって
Subgroup 4: ぐ --> いで
Example: ぬぐ(to take off) turns into ぬいで
Subgroup 5: す --> して
Example: こわす(to smash/break?) turns into こわして
Group 2: verbs ending with -eru and -iru
Replace "ru" with "te"
Example: たべる(to eat) turns into たべて
Group 3: verbs ending with -suru and -kuru
Just remember this:
-する --> -して
-くる --> -きて
Example: べんきょうする(to study) turns into
べんきょうして
That's it, happy learning!
ありがとうございましたゆ子せんせい!! ☻
i lvoe you
Very informative😍
ありがとうがとございました。 このビデオを、良くてつだたです。 よろしくお願いたします。
Mam do you teach jlpt n4 special course also???
Your teaching style is excellent...
It's kinda like in spanish. The standard form of eat in spanish is "comer" but if you wanna say please eat you say "Come, por favor", not "Comer, por favor"
thanks
Arigato Sensei
Konnichiwa, I am from India and I love your videos , can you make a video on " I have......."
Such as I have a pen / I have a car etc.
Shubhant Pinku it is Aがあります。or Aいます depending on whether your item A is an object
I have a pen i have an apple uh ahh pine apple pen......sounds like a song.
Rai Monta are you Japanese?
Can someone help me to understand:
Why 帰る -> 帰って?
帰る is かえる right? Why isn't it かえて in TE form?
Nicoleさん、I understand it is confusing, but 帰る, even though it has る, is a う Verb.
So, it belongs to this category.
う Verb ending in う or る or つ → って in TE Form
You can watch this video about how to figure out if a verb is a る or う verb when it has る in the dictionary form, although 帰る is one of the exceptions. Hope the lesson helps! ruclips.net/video/1T6NzR_HN8c/видео.html
@@YukoSensei Noted, understand it's one of the exceptions :) ありがとうございました!
does the "テ-" form have like a negative counterpart? I know that "食べてください" means "please eat" and "食べないでください" means Please don't eat, but like, is that all?
Gracias Sensei!
Doo itashimashite (You're welcome!) Luis Juan-san.
sumimasen sensei watashi no shitsumon wa......iku wa nandesuka... coz we haven't yet with this word and also not available in our tango
Why do they add a te form? What does it change and why can’t you just put it as normal? This is confusing me 😅
This video is so helpful for me.thank you for uploading such useful video thank you
What happened "Taberu " (ru) and how add "te" and do and did similar
Arigatou gozaimasu sensei
Thank you, this was very helpful!
Has anyone done Yuko Sensei's course and would like to feed back?
So is the -TE form to represent a command, request or suggestion?
In the oast tense..instead of saying:
たべて して 行きました
Isn't it much easier if we say:
食べた した 行きました?
Is there an error?
今日は、三時に起きて、でも…仕事に七時に行きました。
It should mean something along the lines "Today, I woke up at 3 o-clock, but I went to work at 7 o-clock."
Should be:
今日は三時に起きました、でも七時に仕事を行きました。
I woke up at 3 is a past tense so use 起きました instead of 起きて
2nd sentence u just used the wrong particles and wrong word arrangement, otherwise the vocabulary u used was correct😉
I am a japanese language learner who just came across this video, i know this comment was made 9 months ago, but i tried translated it in correct way for practicing my translation skill and help u at the same time😃
@@ericlaw8838 oh its no big deal. I think I dont really have to use 起きました, since its in the TE-form and the last verb in the sentence determines tense, 🤔
Im not really sure tho and 行くis in its past tense 行きました
When using the informal ending how do you know if the verbs prior are in present or past
"ください" oh god this phrase
For ‘I’m eating’ shouldn’t it be 食べます? Instead of 食べています
Can te form be use in Informal speech?. As i see that all of the example you use uses masu and mashita for polite form....
Can i be informal Like..
"Yoku sutaba ni itte koohi o kau"
Without masu or mashita?
"Kino o suraba ni itte koohi o katta"
Without masu or mashita and use ta form instead for past form?
eagerly to learn japanese so sorry if one of my qestion is not on your video.. i already watch your ta form video i only want is to clarify and enlight my question with your answer.... Hoping that you'd answer..😭
yes te can be used in informal
im still cofused on the using of "tabemasu" and "tabeteimasu"
but it feels like the TE form is used the same way of -ing and tabemasu would be just the normal present tense, like:
tabemasu / i eat
tabeteimasu / i'm eating
is this right???
i also thought the TE form was some type of pronoun-verb conjugation, like:
tabemasu / i eat
tabeteimasu / they eat
anyway, still unsure about a lot innit. if anyone could pls explain ;-;;-;;;
So instead of saying
Watashi wo tabemasu
I can say
Watshi wo tabeteimasu
And it will mean the same ???
i think it's Watashi "wa" tabemasu
tabemasu : will eat
tabeteimasu : eating (right now)
