- I share my technique to control the environment i photograph the Common Kingfisher here in Denmark. I still takes some luck to get close to these shy birds but i usually succeed when i stick to the way i show in this episode!

The kingfisher is the most beautiful bird in my region. It's always and adventure to search and photograph them. Thanks for sharing your tipps!
Thank for your comment :)
🦫Hello Thank you for these very nice sequences, photos ... in Denmark 🦊 In return, I like sharing videos of Common Kingfisher on the banks of the Loire " the blue arrow" Friendships from France 🦌
Thank you very much 😁😁😁
Thanks Dennis, really appreciated the tips! Beautiful photos!
Thank you Richard 😁👍🏻 glad its usefull and appreciate your comment
Super video Dennis - as always. So good to see that even in Denmark - where most birds are somewhat gray and brownish - there is a colorful bird like the kingfisher.
Thank you FBJSWF and yes we have some colorful birds for sure its just easier to see on closeup photos 😁
Otroligt fina bilder ! Och bra tips !
Mange tak 😀😀😀
Thank you for the very helpful tips
You are welcome and thank you for the nice comment :)
Thank you for thise excellent tios
Thanks for your comment 🙏🏻😀
Hermosas imágenes con diferentes equipos. Sabios consejos que también comparto, hay tanto material suelto que no hace falta cortar nada. Un saludo.
Thank you 😁😁😁 and yes no reason to destroy the nature to get photos!
Always love a Kingfisher , some good tips Dennis to get close enough to get a good photograph 👍
I also enjoy working with this species 😀
very good video, thank you 👍🏽
Thanks 😀 appreciated!
Hi Dennis - thanks for sharing your pro tips here. Good to see that you are still out and about and enjoying life in the wild 😎
Thank you Hans 😄its great to be out again for sure!
Super video Dennis. Kingfishers are beautiful birds. I also did a video about them on my channel. Anyway great job😀
Thank you Richard 🙂
Excellent video Dennis. Great images and explanation .
Thanks Roger 😀
I think the first at 3:21 saw you :-) When she was only there for a few seconds and looking that way slightly upwards. Great footage!
Thanks and yes i think you are right 😂 next session i will double up the camo and hide a little better! they are so shy
@@DennisJacobsenWildlife What can help a bit is to keep yourself and the hide as low as possible, the lower the less they are suspicious. And in the most ideal situation you let the hide there for days, but it depends on the location if that is possible. I shot a lot of them laying on the ground at the bank of streams/rivers, close to up less than 2 meters.
@@ijsvogels_nl Thanks for the great tips 😁👍
Great tips and wonderful photos! I'd like to add that this works very well on the coastline too, if they're overwintering over saltwater, like they do where I'm at. I've had lots of success even without camo once the individual bird gets to know you, they're quite bold and inquisitive if you're patient.
Thanks and also for the tip 😁 Appreciated! 👍
Some great shots in variable light. What would you say the optimum light conditions would be for kingfishers given they are quite a contrasty bird, colour wise..
Thanks 😁 morning or late afternoone .. maybe a little overcast .. the colors change so much on this bird depending on the light and angles 😁 i think it would be soft overcast early day but still plenty light would be my prefered situation 📷📽
@@DennisJacobsenWildlife Cheers, yes I'd agree. I am going to start observations on my local birds, and see what patterns they perform, and set up accordingly. Thanks for the video, look forwards to future videos..
Very helpful video, thank you.
Do you have a preferred time to capture your images of the kingfisher ?
To me on my few attempts they are more active mid morning but seem to disappear at sunset.
Thanks again.
Thanks Michael 😀 Mornings work best in my opinion .. they seem more active and the light i good 📷👍🏻
Thanks again
Great video! I was amazed to see how slow the shutter speed was on many of those photos. Aren’t you getting a lot of motion blurred photos at 1/125 or 1/250??
Thanks 😁 i was using a tripod in my hide, but yes not all where sharp 😁 i just shoot plenty 😎
@@DennisJacobsenWildlife makes sense. I actually learned from this that ISO does not just affect noise but also dynamic range quite dramatically. I wasn’t really aware of it. I will definitely keep a closer eye on this. DXO and Topaz can deal with the noise, but they cannot magically regain dynamic range
@@janwedek You are right Jan 😁 but i goes in the right direction with development of better and better gear for low light shooting!
