The worst part about these ads is that they've become something normal. A majority of us don't even feel they are wrong. Shows how much we've been practiced into believing there's nothing wrong with them.
Fairness creams don't even work, and are arguably harmful for skin. But still people buy and use them.

India is also obsessed with actors like Katrina kaif and Kareena Kapoor, who see no harm in promoting fairness creams. Kareena (who clearly lacks basic knowledge) was interviewed asking why she would promote fairness creams. She outrightly said it's a good business, and there's no danger in it as she's not promoting alcohol or meat. Clearly she doesn't know or knows and is playing dumb. That fairness creams can cause physical and emotional damage. They are also linked to cancer. And Katrina as a half white woman, has been part of numerous fairness cream coercial, in the West you would be called a biggot if not an outright racist. Hope India starts promoting and supporting their own local talent, of all shades.

Kareena Kapoor has foreigner genes too, her mother babita is daughter of Sindhi father and white foreigner mother. In short flawless white skin you see in India are not purely Indian genetically, theirs genes are linked to British or white skinned Muslims(mughals/Turkish) one way or the another. People who remained dark/brown are actually carrying ancient native Indian genes. I m dark and I love myself.

se Nisha i am very glad to hear you love your dark skin. My dad is Punjabi and my mom is Lebanese. And I look like a Latina to the western eyes and like my mother to most of my Indian side. At the end of the day we are all human, and skin color should not dictate anyone’s value.

I am a dark skinned Indian Woman....trust me at one point of time everyone felt that it was their basic right to comment on my skin colour and skin... I was even asked post marriage that if I even know that things like talcum powders exist and that I have no interest in impressing people because I was dark and therefore looked ugly...subsequently just started ignoring people and stopped going to parlours because your parlour didi is the one who just shatters your confidence to the T

I remember my 1st year in university 2 girls joiner class off course fair complexion said about me "Itna kala rung itna safeed uniform". It was said to me in 2004 yet I remember it happened yesterday. & fairness cream doesn't works on my face. So I'll be kalee for rest of my life. I've been rejected many times by boys for wedding because of my Kala rung. People call RG with no brain /pappu /zero IQ level & everything bad in world yet he let me join INC social media worrier team. I've wrote him on twitter with my photo without filter that I call myself his hand picked worker does he got any problems with my statement. No one from INC opposed me. RG may what be in eyes of the world but he is only human in my 44 years of life who never discriminated me for my walking stick & my dark brown skin tone. My own parents dislike me for my disability & kala rung along whole world. I hate fair skin tone girls. I don't like standing with them in group photo or even sit with them on sofa or talk with them to go their home or give them my phone number. For there is sympathy in their words. I was English speaking teacher when I was in 10th grade I used to be Mike Tyson skin tone in those days. My student was a girl from Saudi Arabia an Arab girl her husband made me her teacher. When I used to teach her there was only sympathy on her face words & her every action. I'm a Muslim yet she used to call me scheduled caste Hindu. I understand. I totally do. Ugly people are not loved, have happily ever after or dream wedding not for us.
