I’ve been following saberforge since 2015, got a saber from them in 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2020, with a few repairs and upgrades along the way of course. They are currently the best saber company. Back in 2016 though they definitely weren’t, but they have and continue to make improvements. Their customer service has improved, better electronics, more saber models, more saber classes that are more affordable. Most repairs I’ve needed on sabers were mostly due to user error (except for like 2), and I am happy with their work and expect to buy more from them in the future

That’s another advantage of living in the unincorporated community of Aloha, Oregon and Saber Forge having their show room in their headquarters in Oregon City. I can try out some of their Lightsabers that they have, even Lightsabers that they don’t have online, from their huge collection of Lightsabers available for immediate sale. So I can buy a Lightsaber that I can try before I buy

Was going to buy the Eco Fallen Order but i love The Prodical Son MK2, Golden Rapier LGT Insurgent but the Graflex LGT is certainly on my radar. The amount of Saber chassis/hilt designs and features across the Eco to LGT are premium at first i was baffled by the prices but when considering what actually goes into making these replica Sabers with the detail, weight and feel in your hand. The quality, sheer accuracy being astonishing, the overall finish on them is immaculate the features Eco gives you at the price and the LGT Features are more than fair. The options with customisation are great to see i prefer the premade stuff as they do everything i want but the added feature is more than welcome. I'm going to track down The LGT Graflex an iconic saber for an OT lover like myself and in preparation for my Finn Cosplay. The leather accessories and Beskar, Credits from both Imperial and Republic eras are great and exclusive bonuses from what i can tell.

Yea over the last 4-5 years this company has just become phenomenal. CS has improved significantly thankfully and i think general construction/shipping times have reduced pretty significantly as well. Just received an Avenger mk2 saber with veteran electronics and I'm just in love with this thing. I went through like 20 plastic versions of this exact saber model as a child XD.
Smooth swing is by far the greatest realism enhancement they've made. I have another saber i bought from them like mid 2020 with veteran electronics and it didnt have smooth swing back then, which makes it sound really clunky and just takes away from the realism. But smooth swing... you should have heard me giggle the first time i swung this thing XD i felt like a little kid on christmas morning.

The veteran upgrade was a great move on their part. My first sabers were the plastic ones that were cheap and not realistic at all to today's standards, but it's all there was and I liked it.

In my personal experience with neopixel sabers, they aren’t worth it (for me at least). On camera they seem much brighter than normal sabers with leds in the hilt, but in person there’s barely a difference. Plus with a pixel you can’t bang blades with others because the lights are in the blade. But if you aren’t planning on using it as a sparring saber, and you want that little tiny bit of extra brightness, then go for it. That’s just my 2 cents.

Took me 4 months for my Count Mk2 to ship. It's the name of the game there. Sabertrio can ship sooner before they close their store and only take limited orders to that they can fulfill them. Well said mate I totally agree with you. Recently their quality has massively improved and I just love to see those restock/new hilt emails! Much, much more common than a few years ago. When I first ordered from them 3 years ago their custom service was not good at all but recently it been really good (to me) Ghv3 is a great board only thing I wish was that they used a bigger switch but that is completely personal preference. Loving the new website that they updated to a few weeks ago. I think the powder coating price drop was a smart move and the fact that it adds no extra lead time is great. I also like how in recent times they have started doing more diy friendly routes such as their diy kits on Etsy or the scratch and dent parts. I always will love saberforge LED colours. There is just something about them. However that quad cree annihilates your battery! Electronic have massively improved. But come on just remove veteran from the website! (Sorry for the rant 😂) still need myself a bane

    • @GrayPaladin

Saberforge is one company where the pandemic did them some good. They cleaned house, revamped and rebranded themselves. I like all the changes they made. A lot in a short time. I think they saved their reputation. When one hears the name Saberforge now they don't immediately think "beware".
I don't mind the veteran tier if they drop the price... massively. Otherwise it's, like obsidian, a dinosaur. Golden Harvest is solid enough for the company to stand alone on. The 12mm switch I like and make sense for their hilts since they are generally smaller diameter than most other companies on the market, but I get how that's a preference. I wish they used better quality speakers. If they're going to up the board and electronics, why not go with a better speaker to match?
The Etsy store was a great move on their part. The concept alone of a diy kit is just brilliant. Perfect for a newbie who has no idea what to do or where to get started. The Custom Saber Shop, though great, is not exactly newbie friendly.
If Saberforge keeps improving I'll keep buying.

Gray Paladin, what can I say, I really, really enjoyed this video. Where to start? Well I currently own two sabers, both by Saberforge. My first saber, the Exiled (mk1) was purchased back in 2015 while my second, the Cleric was purchased in April of this year (2021). Both are Champion Tier sabers with the current Golden Harvest 3.33 soundboard. When I first purchased my Exiled I didn't have the options we have now. So when I purchased the Cleric I opted to send my Exiled in for a much needed update. The update awarded me the new Golden Harvest 3.33 and the slew of sound fonts that comes with it. I also opted to change my saber color from blue to yellow. I did, however, lose the kill key which, I actually liked as it gave the saber a bit more personality. It was like an extra little greebly. But the auto shut down is a lovely feature.
I'm a huge fan of the mk 1 Exalted and in some ways prefer it over the current Mk2. I just prefer the solid emitter to that of the new one with the holes. However I really dig their new screw on saber blade design. I toyed around with the idea of getting the new Exile with neo pixel but I'd rather put that money toward a third saber. I've contemplated Electrum Sabercrafts' Evo-Flex as my third saber but I'm not sure. Upon watching this video I always viewed Saberforge's Apprentice line as an inferior line of sabers in spite of me preferring that tier's designs. Now that I see we can get all the same goodies built in, I'm really contemplating the Arbiter. It's such a cool looking saber. I'm quite sure if I go that route, I'll get the Arbiter Shoto at some point to go with it.
I've went on for some time but let me close with this... you hit the nail on the head regarding Saberforge's customer service. It's MUCH better than before as it doesn't take nearly a month for a reply. It still takes a while, about 3 to 5 days. And a word from the wise, any question you may have, ask it all at one time because if you leave anything out and reach out to customer service again, expect another 3 to 5 days for your new question to be answered. In 2015 the customer service was horrid. I mean a reply was akin to winning the lottery. Always nice, just long wait times. So yeah that's the downside to Saberforge. Be it simple correspondence or the super long saber lead times, the saber process takes quite some time.

    • @GrayPaladin
      @GrayPaladin  2 года назад +1

Thanks for sharing and I'm glad you liked the video. For you having made a purchase several years ago, it must seem like a new or different company. They've come s long way and I hope they continue to improve and focus on customer satisfaction.

@@GrayPaladin Quite right. It was a much better experience. The only issue I had during my latest transaction was I had to reach out to Saberforge before they shipped my sabers. Weeks past the max lead time, I reached out for an update regarding my sabers and, miraculously, received a shipping notice a couple days later. No explanation, just a shipping notification. But the sabers arrived in prime condition and work amazingly.
I do have a question; how would you rate Saberforge's Apprentice Sabers? Your video convinced me to give them a look but I just wanted to confirm the quality of that tier. I looked into it and the weight seems comparable to that of the elite tier so I'm guessing they are quality sabers. I'm telling you, that Arbiter is stunning. I really have my eye on that one. Though I am very interested in Electrum Sabercraft's Evo-Flex as well. Oh one last thing -- thank you!!! Man I've learned so much about custom sabers after watching two of your videos in all the years I've been dabbling in this hobby we call saber collecting. Thank you!

Also, for me, I stay away from Electrum Sabercrafts. They have nice hilts, evo-flex among my favorites, but I don't like their Diatium 3 sound board. It's highly flawed in my opinion.

My experience with Saberforge has been a mixed bag; I love a lot of their hilt designs, and Golden Harvest v3 is fantastic, but out of the three hilts I've bought directly from the company, I've had to send two back for repairs not long after receiving them - one had a faulty recharge port and the other has issues with the speaker. The customer service is friendly enough, I will say, even if the wait for a reply is a bit long. And the lead times...oof. Still, the hilts are awesome - I'm probably going to order the hilts empty and do the installs myself, once I study up on the best methods, of course.

Great review. As we discussed in another thread, there hilts are great. But the blades are super brittle in the thin neck sabers.
There claim that the elite sabers are built for full contact is definitely not true. At least for the Redeemer MK3 that I have.
So as a heads up to anyone looking at these. Great saber as a display piece. But I broke mine off at the hilt dueling my 11 year old daughter. She was using a Disney Savi’s workshop blade. Mine is a Gen1 screw in 37” blade. Hopefully the Gen2 screw in blades are bit better. And 37” may be to long for a thin neck hilt.

Your shop reviews are super helpful - many thanks 🙏
I’m still shopping around, and must say I am impressed with Saberforge’s customization options hilt-wise.
I am seeing comments regarding blades breaking off however. So I’m wondering if perhaps just getting a hilt from Saberforge, and getting a blade from somewhere else - might yield the most solid result.
I’m mainly looking to do heavy dueling with it - most likely in The Saber Legion, which requires a 1” OD blade with 3mm (or 1/8”) wall thickness. That’s a pretty heavy blade, and the blade connection to the hilt needs to be solid.
Are you familiar with the LamaDiLuce Polaris, which has a seating depth of 2” for their 1” blades (which I’m guessing was a deliberate effort to keep the blade in during heavy blows)? I wasn’t able to find out how thick their blade walls are though.
Another option would be to purchase the blade tubes closer to the tube manufacturer, and save money there, especially if I need that 3mm thickness. I found one on amazon for half the cost but the only issue is that it’s clear and not diffused white. Yes I could DYI it with cellophane but then the tip would look different than the body, which wouldn’t look good.
So I’m still looking, as I’m not seeing any shop offering the type of hilt AND blade customization that would get me to a saber I like and can use in TSL tournaments.
Any suggestions? And do you know where we can find a transwhite 1” OD with 3mm or 1/8” wall thickness blade or tube?

    • @GrayPaladin
      @GrayPaladin  Год назад

The saberforge blades are actually all thick wall heavy dueling blades. The weight is quite heavy too. Saberforge blades are very durable and tough. The issue in the past was their thin neck sabers didn't have a deep blade depth and so the blades weren't seated enough in the hilt.
Their next big issue was the thread in blade. The LED Module was making the polycarbonate brittle and it was breaking off. Saberforge said they fixed the issue by redesigning the blade and giving free replacements to customers who had the old version.
My preferred blade is Sabertrio's midgrade. That trans white gives the best brightness and glow in my opinion. They offer a heavy grade blade too, but I haven't used it before.

Here I am again. Researching my next purchase. I'm looking at an elite saber (or two) next, but my question is about the electronics tiers.
I'm very happy with a Veteran RGB in an apprentice but I wondered what Champion tier is like. A few more sounds, yeah, as well as a heap more scrolling through the fonts. But the website leads me to believe that Champion tier electronics only comes with a single colour blade. That's unthinkable.
    Is it true?
The beauty of the Veteran RGB is it remembers which colour you've chosen to go with each soundfont. Something the Tri-cree does not do.

The ones that get sabers out quickly are LGT resellers and possibly Ultrasabers (I hear even they're longer now). First off, I will say if the biggest complaint about SaberForge is the multiple months wait, then that is hardly an issue. My saber arrived almost exactly the 3 month mark of shipping. I ordered the Cultist (wrapped), brown leather, red kill key, Veteran tier audio (so the First Harvest), and purple LED color on a 32in blade. The craft and quality is impressive, I am blown away at the saber. Everything about it is amazing. I was hoping to be able to load in custom soundfonts purchased from the internet, bummed I cannot with a First Harvest but that doesn't change my opinion. I never did reach out to SaberForge at any time so I cannot comment on the "horrible" customer service SF has been hit with for years.
All in all, I am impressed and stopping the urge to jump and purchase another saber right away. Moving forward, the next thing I would like to do is craft my own ASP saber, but I only ever see two of the four parts available. My biggest fear is will the separate ASP components align correct. That and all the electronics I would have to do. Regardless if my next saber is ASP or another pre-build, I will be investing in the Golden Harvest and Hero Pixel blades.

@@moonlight39echo Your cultist configuration sounds good. The first harvest board is a solid start. It's not overwhelming, but has most of the basic features.
ASP can be hard to come by if you have specific sections in mind. The restock of ASP is not as frequent as the complete sabers. For alignment you'll need to use timing shims. Those can be ordered through SF too and you will need them. They're like thin aluminum washers that go over the threading to control how much or little each section can spin to align with the connected section.
For electronics in your ASP saber, you can get a plug n'play kits from SF. They have golden harvest kits available. TBH, I'm not a huge fan of their hero pixel mainly because of the thread in blade. You can only use their blade and if it's damaged you have to order another blade specifically from SF.
