I am finishing my PhD in Theater and focusing my studies on ancient Greek drama. My academic advisor, who is from Thessaloniki, stressed to me the importance of "walking the roads" of whatever subject you undertake as your specialty. I finally was able to visit Greece last year, to see the Acropolis and theaters at Delphi, Athens, and Epidaurus. I even recited some Aeschylus and Sophocles there and was nearly crying. So very excited for my next trip to Greece, whenever that may be.
You are welcome to also visit Ancient Messini, Ancient Olympia, or even Ephesus, an ancient greek city in Turkiye. I recommend you travel across the mainland and visit places like Mani, Monemvasia and Pella. Its really underrated compared to the islands
I started listening to this on 0.50 playback speed and it still felt too fast for me to follow 😆Normal speed felt like fast forward! Looking forward to listening more☺️
10:15 I was not disappointed. I love your people NOW, not only the Hellenes of the past. Yes, there are difficulties, poverty and stuff, but I genuinely appreciated your country even with all of these issues. Kind of like when you love a person and pass over the flaws.
I've been to Greece four times, and each time, I've visited the Acropolis with the different people I travelled with (first time as a kid with my Greek parents; second time with a high school friend during a graduation trip; third time by myself after needing to spend a day away from my sister; and fourth time with my ex). I can't imagine going to Athens as a tourist and not going to the Acropolis. Question though: is it me, or is it nearly impossible to climb the steps and walk around the the site, no matter what kinds of shoes you're wearing? It's soooo slippery, even with a good, rubber-soled sneaker or sandal, and I'm constantly afraid I'm gonna fall and break my neck!
I wouldnt as someone who has been to Greece twice, I really like local things because theyre not packed with people Edit: also because its far away for me
Εγώ πάντως έδειξα μια φωτογραφία της Ακρόπολης σε μια φίλη μου Αμερικάνα, με πτυχία υποτίθεται και μου λέει "wow, what is this? Mount Olympus?".
Pains to see the new gen Greeks being so aloof about their rich history....no wonder I was welcomed with such high regard by most old guards throughout Hellas for my respect and knowledge about Greece
Most people in Athens are migrants. In 1833, Athens 'had a small population of an estimated 400 houses, mostly located around the Acropolis in the Plaka'.
The Acropolis of Athens and its monuments are universal symbols of the classical spirit and civilization and form the greatest architectural and artistic complex bequeathed by Greek Antiquity to the world....An impressive example of ancient Greek architecture, the Parthenon is a cultural landmark like no other. The columns are slightly tapered to give the temple a symmetrical appearance. The corner columns are larger in diameter than the other columns. Incredibly, the Parthenon contains no straight lines and no right angles, a true feat of Greek architecture....By many engineers and architects, it is considered the most perfect structure ever built. Phidias, the sculptor who designed the Parthenon, used the “Golden Ratio” in his works because it is the most pleasing to the eye...Today, the Parthenon stands as a symbol of the enduring legacy of ancient Greek culture and civilization. It is a testament to the power of human creativity and ingenuity, and a reminder of the wonder and mystery that continue to captivate us, even thousands of years after its construction. Aren't all these reasons for the tourists to visit it? I am asking you,Greek People in the Video!
I wouldn't mind visiting the Acropolis, but truly I want to see the island of my Great-Grandmother more. So maybe I am with the guy who said beaches? lol

That guy never opened a book in his life, ahah. "I'd go for the beaches" ROFL
He would be equivalent to a U.S. version of a 'Trumptard'!
My wife and I went there for our honeymoon last year 😊
Cute

Agreed, it's a real shame.
I feel like most countries are like this. Younger people don’t really care about local stuff. People start caring when they grow up.

Same thing in China. People are busy with beauty, money, tiktok, transitory addictions 😂😂😂
@@PeerLaWill That's frustrating. People need to know about their country's history and heritage.
