You are spoiling us with two more push tugs. "Aquarius" looks to have more cars than crew. "Aries" has one motorbike for three crew? Thanks, Nick.
Two for the price of one video, thank you. Good to watch the action. Which is the nearest town to your filming location please?
Gronimgem
Thank you Maarten, from Martin! Much appreciated.
Outstanding production. There are a number of these push tug/barge combinations in the fleets of cargo haulers of the American Great Lakes. Those are much larger than these, of course (some in the 1,000 feet neighborhood). The similarities in the 2 vessel types are notable. Great catch. Hope you capture more of these interesting ships.
a nice catch , two tug barges , they always look abit weird when they're raised right up like that , they look alittle unsteady to me lol .
Always thought it lookrd nrat hpw they can raise and lower the pilot house.
First time seeing these tug/barge combos on this channel
Are these common on the canals in the Netherlands?
as Greg Mctevia said these ae common on the Great Lakes. As the older ships can no longer be serviced, they cut off the engine room / superstructure and convert it to a barge and pair it with a tug and they can get another 25 or more years service from them. Dutch/Canadian ingenuity!! Look for van Enkevort Tug & Barge
On the canals not very common, but on the river Rhine you see combinations of six large barges being pushed by three engines/proplellors push/tugs.
