I was listening to his last interview when he described Julian as being “born out of a bottle of whiskey“, and at 18 years old, it made me sad for Julian to hear about his father describing him that way. Not sure what I think of Yoko, but she was there and witnessed his murder, which I wouldn't wish on anybody. An interesting point is that it could have happened anywhere. Yes, America is often an unreasonably violent country. But I also remember George Harrison being nearly knifed to death in his own home in the UK while he was battling cancer and he was reportefly pretty shaken after that. An intruder also broke into the palace and actually conftonted Queen Eluzabeth while she was alone. The Beatles weren't not known fir good security, but where was security for the Queen? Terrible and senseless crimes have occurred in the most unlikely places outside of America, even in Canada, the "nice" country. John was a public figure, which triggers mentally ill people and others with a political axe to grind. It's sad there is still so much senseless violence.
Actually my understanding was that George had very high security all over his castle/mansion where he was attacked. No one mentions or counts genocide which is what the 2nd Amendment is for to stop over reaching governments. It was certainly a tragedy that John Lennon was killed, we all agree on that. He was an amazing songwriter and musician we agree on that too. I think he was an idealist, who fought for his beliefs, and he sensed he was about to become a ‘sacrificial lamb’. My sense of it his life story, after hearing a lot of people’s talking, (Paul makes a lot of sense) is that ultimately it was his beliefs that mattered to him almost like a Kamikaze pilot. We still have the beauty that his art created and all the inspirations that his friendships spawned.

I have no hatred towards Yoko, obviously a terrible thing to experience, but she moved Sam Havadtoy into the Dakota for the next 20 years (1981-2001). They were a couple! Even publicly acknowledging it. So, all this, "I stay here because of John,'' stuff, and the whole John/Yoko love story fantasy, is ridiculous. From 1977/78 onwards, she was clearly not in love with Lennon. It was very profitable to keep the myth going in the press. Havadtoy is erased from the story and in all Beatle online groups. She was allegedly involved with Havadtoy before John's death. What she did to John's family is unforgiveable, though. I draw the line, there. How you treat your husband's family and previous children is a big deal, especially when children are involved. You have a responsibility. At the very least, you shouldn't go out of your way to mistreat or punish them.

Sean as a 5 year old should have been in bed asleep long before that time anyway. A couple of hours would not have made a difference. Seems like it was her way or the highway to be honest, although I don't doubt John loved her. Why on Earth he allowed her equal contribution to the first album in 5 years is beyond me. Read Fred Seamans the Last Days of John Lennon. Fred was Johns personal assistant for about a year and a half before his death. According to Fred things weren't rosy as the public was lead to believe. Take it for what it's worth but according to Fred, Yoko was approached a couple of times regarding extra security for the couple as John was becoming more and more visible. Yoko made these type of decisions. She turned it down both times, one being on the final weekend before his murder.

It was certainly a tragedy that John Lennon was killed, we all agree on that. He was an amazing songwriter and musician we agree on that too. I think he was an idealist, who fought for his beliefs, and he sensed he was about to become a ‘sacrificial lamb’. My sense of it his life story, after hearing a lot of people’s talking, (Paul makes a lot of sense) is that ultimately it was his beliefs that mattered to him almost like a Kamikaze pilot. We still have the beauty that his art created and all the inspirations that his friendships spawned.

Like everyone else I was stunned and saddened when he was killed in such a senseless manner. Have to agree with some on here who say her statements were inconsistent. Why was he cremated so quickly (or at all if that's not what he expressed as his wish). Why did she change their plans to go eat before going home. Sean as a 5 year old should have been in bed asleep long before that time anyway. A couple of hours would not have made a difference. Seems like it was her way or the highway to be honest, although I don't doubt John loved her. Why on Earth he allowed her equal contribution to the first album in 5 years is beyond me. Her music is, I guess, an acquired taste that most people have not acquired.
Reading all the books written by the couples fired staff, and staff that decided they no longer wanted to work for them, you realized the secrets that were kept. Read Fred Seamans the Last Days of John Lennon. Fred was Johns personal assistant for about a year and a half before his death. According to Fred things weren't rosy as the
public was lead to believe. Take it for what it's worth but according to Fred, Yoko was approached a couple of times regarding extra security for the couple as John was becoming more and more visible. Yoko made these type of decisions. She turned it down both times, one being on the final weekend before his murder.

Mark emptied the entire clip into John's back & his last words were-"I'm shot." John had just turned 40 in October 9th & was shot dead outside the apt bldg on 12-8-1980 early evening. This December 8-2025 Mark David Chapman will be in NY Prison for 45 yrs. Was born 5-10-1955 & will be 70 on May 10.
This too hurt me, I was at work that day waiting to start when a co-worker came in & said, "John Lennon was just shot dead." U see he was my Beatle too & on that day that cut deep with me. Sometime later George Harrison then passed on from smoking. So now, it's just Paul & Ringo.

I’m not a fan of her attempts to be a music performer, but living through his murder and raising Sean without him is awful. And everyone may not have agreed with his stances, but he was a talented, peaceful and loving person. We could use more people with those qualities.
