Props to Gobert for making free throws in the crunch time. Almost blown that large lead.
2:35 that slow mo shot is wild😳
5:25 Again coach, like in other videos about the refs. It's the consistency. Not the individual call. When the same action (here the jumping straight up) is handled differently throughout the season or even worse, within one game, it simply sucks. When the refs tell the coaches "you'll need to arms straight up for us to not call a foul here" and then they decide to let Lopez get away with his arm in front of him, it's just inconsistant. And that is NOT GOOD
They are the refs. You can’t argue that you know the rules better than they do. So please stop. I am sure that they want to keep it consistent. But people make mistakes.
If it's about consistency you cant cherry pick 3 scenes from a single game. You would have to look at hundreds of calls over a whole season. But I dont expect you or an NBA coach to understand variance.
@@maxmeier532 I want to share a different viewpoint. The refs are actually consistent in making inconsistent decisions. It’s not like they officiate one game perfectly and the other game is a complete mess. They ruin almost every game. Most decisions are coin toss. Sometimes they call sometimes they don’t. I don’t see any reason why teams should cry about it. It happens to every team at different nights. Just accept that tonight is your unlucky night with the refs. Your opponent will face it too.
It would be a problem if they killed one team over and over and not the rest of the league. As long as they are fair to every team in making inconsistent calls, I am fine with it.
@@berryesseen damn you're doing tricks on it.
Mike brown said the NBA told him both arms need to be up, not referees. It was a very strange statement that doesn’t match what the rulebook says. But you can’t demand consistency between two calls that aren’t even close to the same
We have to give props to Gobert, he is very clutch, that 65% in free throws is going to make it more difficult for opposing teams to hack him
I'm a clippers fan and i still think the clippers bench during the gobert free throws was Busch League.
What do you expect? Clips gon Clip. Dressbrick gon layup bricks.
For the verticality rule, you need to stay vertical for the whole shot. This is why the Kristaps foul was recalled against the Pacers. I even called it out saying that he's vertical and he was straight and was never flailing. It's the same for Brook.
For sure. But if that forearm does extend and initiate contact, it’s gotta be a foul
There's another point to be made here. If you jump up vertically and you get hit by the offensive player in your midsection, it is almost impossible to keep your arms vertical. This what the refs are also looking at. So if there's contact by the offensive player in the midsection, they may overlook limited contact with non-vertical arms. Personally, I think this was a foul, but I can also understand the no-call.
It's not the rules. It's what the refs told Coach Mike Brown.
Wrong on the Fox contact with Dame - it's obvious Dame flops and there is no pressure from Fox because of the downward motion of his hand. Not fine at all. And Lopez's interaction with Monk is clearly a foul. 99 times out of 100 the ref calls that, but not here. The arm hook? Come on! The refereeing is so inconsistent and I think it's fair that the coaches are angry as this inconsistency takes games away from them and makes it awful for the fans. They simply have to find a better way to be more consistent. Refs just have too much power to control the outcome of games and they're human so will make mistakes. The NBA needs to act.
I dont care if players make fun of other players but Westbrook is the type that can dish it but cant take it how many times have we seen him get his panties in a bunch
HAHAHHAAH Westbrook is so cringe...so dumb. His fans are clowns too.
Yeah Westbrook is sensitive as they come
You call him westbrick and he wants to destroy your life.
Lopez’s off arm was clearly slowing Monk down, basically pushing him in the air. That’s a foul just as Fox’s push was a foul.
Also great point about Lopez’s left arm was not going straight up and briefly hit Monk in the head.
Agreed. Elbowed him in the chest and his other arm smacked his head. His arm was not vertical at all. That college ref was looking for any reason to side with the refs
Monk is the instigator of the contact, he jumped right into Lopez.

@@HypocritesExposd define straight up. What is the angle tolerance? How do you measure if the movement is straight up? These are very vague terms unless they define it mathematically.
Westbrick is an embarrassment.
Nah. You are.. Russ played very well and last lay up didn't matter anyway.
@@heimonen5174it does he always does this in the clutch he should be nowhere near the fucken ball
@@Ash_38_ nah. You're just lazy thinker. Russ is usually on the bench in last five minutes. PG played horrible in this game and Kawhi also was not that great. Zubac didn't play.. and you're just playing that same old Song about Westbrook cause you cant play anything else.
Bench would have the same reaction watching Westbrooks highlights on the lakers too
feels silly to have russ on in the final minutes of a close game.
This guy has a fetish for Westbrook
You want to defend his actions on the bench? Ok, but the basketball gods were angered lolz
So he has every right to be upset but should just suck it up, hmm... sounds like whats been happening the last few years, and anytime any coach takes a stand even Darko, everyone tells them to keep quiet and suck it up.
Its funny how harden rolls the ball up to save time but then takes 5 seconds to get the play started.
Well that's fine actually because that 5 second window was between 24 and 18 seconds on the shot clock as opposed to it being possibly within 16 and 10 seconds.
Basically that means the time he saved not touching the ball allowed him to take 5 or so seconds to set everything up, which is about how long it takes most plays to be initiated anyway.

I couldn't believe what they were thinking when they did not double Dame.
Thanks for the video!
I know right?!?! 🙏🏀🙏
The Lopez call bothered me the most, they need to overturn it with CLEAR & CONCLUSIVE evidence.
And yet they decided to do it with the benefit of replays, this decision is wild to say at least
Yeah, I didn’t love the overturn of the foul call
These is how all NBA fans react on ref calls all season! There should be some accountability or something, refs been getting away with it for so long.
You always hated Russ the start of this video you couldn’t wait to bring up this situation😂😂
Yea this guy is cringe lol
I mean, everyone was talking about it so I wasn’t going to cover it?
@@bballbreakdownnah you been like this shit for years bro, if lebron or ant was doing this you wouldn’t say a word, you ain’t say the same when people were laughing at russ for bricking ft, but if Rudy gobert does it you gotta call out the bench and say russ asked to be filmed when he was already engaged with the fan before. 12 mins of Coach Nick (Sponsered by prize picks) defending his parlays.
the whole point is the refs are trying to give wins to the bucks and lakers.
If you keep doing these videos defending refs, people won’t watch anymore. We all know you have a hard on for the refs but there’s no need to keep doing these videos. Just stop already.
nonsense. this is a reasonable analysis. you nuts commenting about a ref and NBA conspiracy are exhausting. It's just so dumb.
How are you going to say I’m defending the refs when I disagreed with 2 of the 3 calls???
big ups to Mike Brown for callin out the refs on their bs & sabonis is way overrated
RIP Ronnie Nunn. I am glad there is new blood who's an expert referee that we can look forward to in future videos though. More experts with different points of view.
Asking a refs opinion on other refs seems ludicrous to me. Might as well as the refs mother what she thinks.
“The clippers f’d around and found out” 😂😂😂
This honestly feels like you are just being a hater of Mike brown, and that the ref brought on is only trying to defend the poor calls instead of actually judging the consistency of the calls
Ref's are having terrible year again 😅 almost nothing new these days
Hey I've mentioned it on other videos and I agree is really not a good look for the reaction russ had, but you still never make mention of the good he does, even when he went for poster and made both free throws, you just kinda gloss over it, it feels a little like only the negative shines, never really the good, I mean his defensive numbers have gotten so much better and yet again, no mention of it in general or that he took bench role for the team
Coach used to hate the bucks, until his boy Dame got here
💯🛜
Thanks for the great content as always.
Coach can we get a video on how "coach's challenge" changed the NBA?
I find calls are being made extremely late constantly now (I watch all Bulls games).
It seems to be caused by the refs wanting to see who has possession before the whistle is blown.
Otherwise you will have a un/successful challenge result with a jump ball - and that seems crazy to most viewers.
There's definitely a lot more late calls than in previous years, I noticed that too.
Although I think it's less about who has possession and more about just getting the calls correct right away. Even just a second of hesitation means a ref can process a play better and it should improve the quality of the call.
I'm also pretty confident that most refs don't like having to overturn their own calls.
That said, I don't mind the late calls. A lot of fans seem to be upset when it happens, but I'd rather them get it right, even if it hurts my team.
Thanks! And that’s an interesting question. I also think they want to process what they saw so sometimes they whistle is a little later than normal.. but I can definitely look into it
Is it time we revive "Westbrick"?
Refs are a joke. Give an angel it's wings everyone, when you see a ref in person, call them an idiot.
dont call it fair when ref do stupid calls alot last year when the nba start they need to make it 95% correct then 80%
how extremely sensitive you have be to think russ joking around is "problematic" its called being competitive
The only one that looks like a correct call is Fox with Dame. It doesn't look like he was applying any force but the call is understandable. Mike Brown is right about the rest though he deserves the ejection and fine
The Fox on Lillard foul call was ticky tacky at best. The Lopez no call on Monk was definitely a foul with the head contact, armbar extension, and he didn’t even have legal verticality. His arm came down at an angle. I don’t agree with Brown actions on the court though but I understand the frustration
You really have to twist yourself into a prezel if you want to agree with what the refs have been doing lately.
Here’s what I don’t understand. How is a defender entitled to his space and then at the same time has to keep their arm straight in the air. Not only is the offensive player given more angles to finish at the rim they are allowed to get up the air space of the defender and likely get the call. Embiid is the perfect example of this. Defenders are not even trying to contest him anymore because he will eat up the air space and either exaggerate the contact by falling or making an unnatural shooting motion. It’s not just Embiid either. Players are full blown trucking into the paint expecting every call. The slightest bit of contact this players are screaming at the refs when it should be that significant contact should draw fouls. The NBA really needs to change some of the language in their rule book
Rules so complicate it needs rocket science to see through.
It's a shame refs are catering to Vegas yet people still bother defending them.
2:33 wow that was smooth
At 10:30 id have to disagree. The plays are pretty similar, both are guards coming off the pnr. If theyre gonna give dame the foul, fox needs to get it too
Well, a hook by a defender on a player in mid dribble and on the ground is a lot different than a shove of an airborne shooter
I swear, the vendetta Coach Nick has against Russell Westbrook has to stop. It's actually ludicrous how much of a hater he is when it comes to Russ. It's like 10 shots given at Russ' expense for every one acknowledgment of a good play. BTW Russ was a net positive in this game, with 12 points and 13 assists but you'd never know it from the way he's always portrayed. SMH, I swear if you can't be bothered to give Russ any credit for all of his positive traits then at least don't take stupid cheap shots when he actually plays well.
HAHAHHAAH Westbrook is so cringe...so dumb. His fans are clowns too.
waaahhh waaaahhhh leave russ alone waaahhhh LEAVE RUSS ALONE WAAAAHHH
He did play well.. but I had to stay focused on the FTs and down the stretch since it was already running long
@@bballbreakdownFr bro u a clown ur content lame always putting ur mouth in Westbrook name for clicks and views
NBA is the best basketball league in the world. There is no need for intentional biased calls.
That foul on Dame should NOT have been called. Fox simply put his hand on Dame's hip, but there was no pressure applied at all to throw him off. Payne should have been called for an offensive foul. Lopez should've been called for a foul. The positioning of his forearm and the contact of his body against Monk's and his arm on Monk's head affected his momentum. Mike Brown should not have ran onto the court, but he has every right to be frustrated.
Dame has literally said he thinks about shooting from the half court line
Mike is absolutely right. Officiating in the league is a wreck.
If putting your hand on a shooter is a foul, then it has to be a foul everywhere. The Lopez review with a hand on the driving player is exactly the same. This inconsistency is driving fans away.
So, if the league desires to improve: 1) roll back to the older rules (i.e. no travels, carries, double step trash, gather, etc.), 2) enable defense (offensive player initiating contract is not a blocking foul, 3) be consistent.
Edit:
Every league I played in, the refs got to know the players. Often, during the opening discussion, the refs would call out certain bad habits of certain players and warn the teams they were looking for it. With Payne, the refs should know he grabs and holds like crazy and use informed officiating. Everyone in the arena knew Payne was going to hook on that play before it even happened.
I think there should be 4 refs. 3 refs are clearly not enough with how many missed calls there are.
Facts. It’s hella effecting the game
Let's have 6 of them. If half r that challenged in one perspective then the other half can give help. 2 on each sideline and u still have 1 each on both ends.
Everyone is so mean to Rudy and he doesn’t deserve it
The 2nd I heard the music I knew this was gonna be a great video lol
russ just hates gobert😂
and exposed himself to be an even bigger clown than gobert lol
Good on Rudy, they flamed him on an off night and he made them look stupid.
Nobody else is best and worst simultaneously quite like Westbrook 😂 He singlehandedly lowers the life expectancy of Clippers fans who suffer from heart conditions. Reminds me of Ginobili. Live by the wild card, die by the wild card. But more so.
Westbrook is the worst trashtalker of the history every time he try to trashtalk he do something embarassing after , lose or both this time it was both
Stop talking about the damn Flippers, no one cares about them!
I'm sorry but I don't agree with this video analysis at all.
The Lopez call is absolutely bogus as it clearly altered Monk's momentum. Arm was NOT vertical, and his forearm clearly altered Monk's movement. It's mind-boggling how the Lopez-Monk play is considered "incidental" when there's SO MUCH more contact with clear impediment as compared to the Fox-Lillard play, where there's virtually no contact other than a hand resting on Lillard. Showing a few other highlights of Sabonis' defense is anecdotal at best and proves nothing. And how convenient is it that the refs just simply "missed" the foul call on the Fox arm lock? That's not accountability. The refs should be in position to have proper view of the court.
The refs are miscommunicating the rule book or giving phony information to coaches. They are telling coaches (not just Mike Brown) that a defender has to have both arms vertical. But this verticality rule is not actually officially written in the rule book. It's just what league refs are saying how they have been trained to call it. If the league is purposefully leaving it vague and not entering it into the rule book, that sounds like it's being left open to interpretation so the refs can make judgment calls, which allows them to give preferential treatment whenever they or the league wants or to control the flow of games. Not okay...
And just because someone brings up a discrepancy in free throws doesn't automatically mean they're claiming there's a conspiracy. I agree with Brown's ejection and coaches can't storm onto the court during a game obviously. But using the argument that there's all kinds of nuance and reasons why a ref calls things the way to do is just using a burden of proof fallacy. Everything can be viewed in multiple ways and the outcome doesn't automatically mean it was the right outcome.
Yes, the NBA is riged.
Russ should be careful with the tactical fouls.rudy gobert is a monster.
Monk face when holding mike brown is hilarious
Are you trying to recover from your raps vs lakers ref video? Cause it doesnt help that you got it so wrong in that one 😅
lol, but I didn’t get it so wrong. I brought video evidence to make all my points 🤷🏻♂️
Russ must’ve forgot he was air balling free throws 🙃
Russ thought he was curry lol
ive never seen him airball two in a row like gobert though, that should be unacceptable as a professional athlete
@@pagman2356 air balling free throws AS A GUARD is even more unacceptable 😭😭. Then he smokes the layup at the end of the game 😂. Gobert is a big, big’s have always been pretty bad free throw shooters unless they have a soft touch. Westbrook has a air ball tape 😭. He’s the last person who should be laughing.

How does Russ get mentioned almost solely in a negative light when, if you watched the game, you know damn well the clippers don't come back without his energy...
the best thing russ can do on the clippers is pass the ball. always a good decision.
And people wonder why I don’t like Russell Westbrick!
And people swear this dude is humble smh
refs just suck at refing
This type of behaviour is what makes the nba look like a circus at times. Imagine this shit in any other league in the world.
Russ does it again
A lot of players don't like Rudy bevause of that covid incident
i just think that these rules have to be more expecific so we don't run into the problem of refs calling based on their perspective, i agree with Mike that there´s no consistency on the refs calls, but not exactly on the plays that he showed, but his point is still valid, and him being no the first to call out the refs in a postgame shows exactly that
Chips point at 8:48 is spot on, coach you guests really know their stuff
I think its about time NBA will use and AI ref. let see if coaches still complain.
What people need to understand is that not every call will be seen. The refs are human. They won't be able to see everything. When the reffing is overwhelmingly inconsistent, then I'd say yeah that's something to complain about (I'm talking from experience being a Suns fan when we got caught up in the Tim Donaghy scandal where they stole our fucking title in 2005-2006 from bad reffing). But when it's one call here, one call there...he should KNOW that's basketball. ANd yes, 'the game was won by a single point' but...that could've been made up in a myriad of other ways.
Always defending these god awful refs. Other than that, it's great content.
I’m defending them by saying they totally missed the call that Mike Brown lost his sh*t on?
No such thing as B-ball gods
i play basketball and thats not a foul on fox you are trippin. if you call that a foul in the games where i play you would get called soft as hell.
It gets painful defending a physical player if you can't have a forearm guard
Can't take the clown out of Westbrook apparently. KAT and the Twolves always have something to torment WB.
Wolves just got lucky clippers were off that night, it showed that ty can come up with good plays to win a game, unfortunately as mentioned, starters had an off night. Wolves aren’t ready to win the chip.
you dont understand when ive been a kings fan for 35+ years and i love watching basketball. i never miss a game and i always watch "the good teams" when they play at 7pm easter or 4pm my time. the games are called differently specially when its the home to of a good squad. if you cant see that then your not a true analyst. you cant just watch the highlights and go off that.
Russ is definitely not your favourite player. Russ had a +/- of +2 despite taking 3fouls on RG
You can't call that a foul on the lillard shot, then not call the arm on the monk shot. It's the same thing! Imo (using your hand or arm to change a players shot while in the air)
It's literally not the same thing. Lillard went for a shot and didnt instigate the contact. Monk DID instigate the contact by jumping right at Monk. Do you actually have a set of eyes?
@@maxmeier532fox quite literally didn’t initiate the contact. It was Lopez who first touched him and made contact
@@Pwnya145 yep, exactly. Both defenders in both situations initiated contact that could be deemed with incidental or foul worthy. I have no issues with which one you choose to believe is the right call. But that call has to be consistent.
Refs are to blame for every sport these days 😂😂
Mike Brown is funny I think Kings have good coach anyway to play with :D
Good call on the slot/trail at the end coach. I saw it immediately. Note, however, that this was not the fault of the trail, nor the slot. It was the fault of the lead, who was on the wrong side. It makes no sense for him to be on that side anyway.
In 2 person officiating, the trail is on the left. Why? because most players dribble righthandedly, towards the rim. That means they have good view of any action and can look between the players for contact the second a blowby occurs.
In 3 person officiating, the lead determines the positions of the slot and the trail. The lead wants to be on the strong (ball) side, roughly along the location of the ball. When the ball switches sides, the lead determines if he can switch sides (and the slot and trail then rotate accordingly)
It almost feels like the lead has been doing 2 person officiating and was plopped into a 3person setup... and the team as a whole just followed his lead.
But even if the lead is on the wrong side, that is no reason for the slot and trail to not adjust position if the play demands it. So in the end... all are at fault.
Coach is the biggest russ hater here for sure lol
There's no way only 1 hand/arm has to be vertical when contesting shots.
That's beyond picking nits and is ludicrous. If that's so, then why has Draymond come under fire for extending his legs all those times?
If the other arm is down and doesn’t make contact, why would u have a problem with that?
The refs in the nba are a absolute joke. The lack of accountability is infuriating. How is there always a coach or player in trouble but nothing happened to any ref after any game?😂 not even the la Toronto one. It’s a joke
Russ missed 2 free shots at the rim they lost by 4 XD Karma
On one hand, make free throws and all these fouls go away. You're a multi-millionaire; hire a sports psychologist, a shooting coach, and practice. Stop whining about fouls and make the free throw. On the other, the NBA could end this by making the away from the ball foul rule independent of time on the clock.
No fault of any gods just missed open shots from players.
Game for Sacramento was rigged! Refs for years have had a despairingly free throw count compared to their opponents! The one ref who made all these bad calls should be fined and put on suspension or kicked out of the league. It’s all money based and story line. Kings lost that game should have hit missed free throws in OT. Mike Brown is a great Coach, an OG, and is sane in his mind! These refs in the league should be held way more accountable and the league should get it figured out! Like if Giannis has a defender do what Lopez did they overturning that call on a challenge…? League needs to fire NBA commissioner. He’s not doing his job at all this year! Complete joke. Tired of kings getting no respect game after game. It’s pathetic
How could you possibly disagree with Coach Brown who had the rules committed to memory and is 1000% more qualified than you? List major respect for your lack of knowledge to the rules and their enforcement by incompetent officials.
How sad.
Did Milwaukee make the tech? If so, Mike Brown lost the game.
WTF chip Clark did not respond to any of coach’s comments regarding the arm bar pushing monks arm a bit or the contact to the head
Because he's incompetent. Just like all refs are.
Clippers player probably bet $ he would air ball thus why they exploded
I think that the Clippers' bench players probably feel insecure over their new roles (or lack thereof): Russ, PJ, and Bones are all players that've seen significant cuts to their minutes in recent weeks. They're used to having the attention on them and now that they don't have it they want to bully others to save face.
Their reactions to Rudy seemed childish and it's poetic justice that it came back to bite them. Russ bricked multiple layups and made poor ball-handling decisions throughout the game.
You're a baby for insisting Brown get suspended for a game. Sure, he shouldn't have been on the floor but to be suspended? Refs have been Hella inconsistent, and that's a fact. You address that then coaches will calm tf down.
You’re determined to be anti Kings and it’s very as dark watch you crumble under public pressure. Wow.
