UPDATE: Yeah GW has officially stated that there have always been women Custodes. They are lying and I am deeply disappointed. They literally could have said "this is a new thing that is possible now". But they lied instead. Oh well. My Custodes will remain men. @@maxgehtdnixan4913 I wish I knew how, I commission other people to 3D print things for me. I just consider it a magical power and respect their mysteries
Custodes basically didn’t even have any lore until 8yrs ago. ADB (who is responsible for most of the Custodes lore) said even at the time on Reddit that he wanted them to not be tied to a specific gender, but was ordered from up high to write them all as men because the modelling team hadn’t made any women as models.
They were(and still are) relatively light on lore compared to other factions but what lore there was prior to this latest codex/the tweet about it always referred to them as being all male, although unlike the astartes it was never stated that it was impossible to create a female custodes so I guess they could have added them to the lore but it would have to be a new development in the lore if they wanted to remain consistent with decades of established lore.
I see the image of a tweet that people are sharing around but I'm on their Twitter right now and I don't see it. Im not sure that tweet is real but if you find it please link it.
Find it extremely disingenuous to ask for a link on the matter just to quickly removed it when posted. Even after said comment gets a thumbs up, but hey what's being objective and truth seeking I guess
@@magosvarlinacus5528 don't accuse me of something I didn't do. I never saw a link and I've been responding to comments this whole time. Repost it, if you want. I'm sure someone else will do it if you don't.
I fear GW is testing the waters to do the same with Space Marines. The modern narrative is that men and women are completely equal and interchangeable, and well, you gotta have those ESG points!
In the 40k narrative, men and women are equal. Both have equal opportunity to die for the Emperor. All jokes aside. Yeah I can see them justifying doing this to space marines too eventually. I don't necessarily have a problem with it. My second legion idea was based on the possibility anyway. Still, I'm not really interested in making my Space Marines women. So I won't.
People keep saying that as if space marines and Custodes are equal Marines have geneseed and black carapace, Custodes do not. No primarch, just hand construction. Other than the word “sons” being mentioned in the codex (which doesn’t prove what you probably think it does), gender isn’t talked about. It was the intention of the writers
Its not at all about "Widening the net of customers". They are getting ESG money and have blackrock investment. If you don't know they are all about pushing agenda through changing media. The hobby has been making money fine and got to this point without this change. This change is not needed. Its like a artist was making a set of paintings for an art gallery showing of city scapes at night. Then their business manage came and slap pictures of K-pop idols in the corner of each image. They say its to broaden the appeal of customers. But are K-pop fans really going to even know or care about some random art gallery now with more k-pop pictures? No. Just like very few people are going to be coming into the hobby from this change.
So they said that they were always there, ok were they also there when they got curb stomped by harlequins as well just to troll. Also eldar got better female rep anyway.
40K has jumped the shark. I follow the lore half way been in the game since RT seen changes. Like you said they can’t make you do anything! GW can change the lore don’t mean I have to change mine. Still have Slann in my home games.
Ffs this is like when people are like "why don't we get any female Custodes?" Because you've already got Sisters of Silence. The two come hand in hand. Should just make more lore for them, but no that'll be too easy so then GW pull this shit.🤦🏿♂️ Edit: Just realized GW could even do a blend of Sisters of Silence mixed with Eversore assassins. Both are seriously underrated and not understood that well when it comes to power scaling, and augmentations in regards to the Eversores.
Sisters of silence aren’t custodes or anywhere near on their level. Sisters of silence are literally just psychic blanks. Custodes are the peak of super soldiers. that’s like saying “the guard are just like space marines!”
@@Max-vp5snsisters of silence are peak at what they do, which is slay demons, they’re even better at it than grey knights, which is why they are the emperor’s bodyguard’s alongside the custodes. They’re not good at what the custodes do, but they’re better at what they do than custodes, they both have their roles, and they play them equally well.
Companies do not backpeddle from ESG scores. He was right when he said it's a business, but wrong when he said you can do nothing. You can stop buying.
You basically went, "Don't ask questions. Consume product. And then get excited for next product." I'm not quitting 40k, I'm quitting GW. If you want to keep funding them, be my guest. I'm not.
That's not what I said at all. Whether you support GW or not doesn't matter. I don't buy my Space Marines from GW, so I relate to people who might be upset about the changes. But If you upset about a potential change, that's valid. You don't have to buy or support GW. That's the point.
I honestly don’t like this at all they stop using SoS just to make female cutodes so dumb. We have cool lore already on the SoB, why make female custodies
I agree that they should be putting more emphasis on expanding the SoS range. I personally can't think of any reason why they would want to make women Custodes besides maybe some sort of business move. Either way, my Custodes will remain men because that Is how I prefer it.
Completely agree here. The whole ohh you are just a misogynist that hates woman is utter bs. Because we HAVE several armies that either have females in them or is completely made out of females. Sisters of Battle, Sisters of Silence, The Drukhari have the wyches, the eldari have the the howling banshes (and each of them also have the female units in their other units), Tyranids have norn queens, the Tau have commander shadow sun. So there is PLENTY of female armies out there. So why do they want The Custodes and Space Marines? Simple because they are popular and they want what is popular. I am willing to bet you anything that if 40k was a niche of a niche of a niche hobby. Very few had heard of it and it wasn´t all that popular. VERY few people would want any DEI or inclusion in it.
Female space marines next. They will also boot out Sisters of Silence and Sisters of Battle. Warhammer is dead. It went the same way as "nu" star wars.
" No one asked for" As if you can speak for every one in this Wargaming community. Speak for yourself. It's the only thing you can be accountable for, unless you are trying to avoid that.
That's just factually wrong. Plenty of people, including canon authors, have asked for it (ADB has confirmed he asked to include female Custodes in his HH fiction before). That doesn't mean you have to like them, or like that they're now being retconned in, but your whole post is just wrong, sorry to say. People have asked for it, and it's by the very definition of the word not homebrew since it's in the official codex.
@@inquisitorvuln okay let's say 1% of fans wanted them, then if i gonna ask for sexy orc females - do i gonna get them, or only politically aligned LGBT costumers can get what they wanted, while straght men can't? Good catch on the Callidus link. After reading the whole story, it does in fact read very similar to the short story "Alien Beast Within." I think you are correct about it being a Callidus shapeshifter disguised as a Custodian.
Thanks. It's just a guess, but overall something feels wrong about the story. It's not just the woman custodian but the dialogue. If it's not an assassin then it could be a high Lord of Terra. But I guess we will have to wait and see. Thanks for watching and commenting!
What makes it seem to me as it's not a callidus assassin is because it's the adeptus custodes codex and not an agents of the imperium codex. I wanna read about the cool stuff they have done themselves, not the time they got infiltrated. Also it mentions she's been chosen to run multiple blood games which a callidus I don't think could do. There are limits to what those assassins can pull off.
@@ethanvallance4989 nah that part was out of character 100%. Custodes calling each other "friends" is crazy. That's even more unbelievable than there being women custodes. But I guess that's the direction they are going with them in.

@@guyperson7487 It was never said that there are no shoorms that make female orks either. It can always be twisted in this way when you use vague shit as that. There is clear linage between primarchs, space marines and custodies. If we can have female custodies then whole reason why there are no female space marines is bogus. Why didn't emperor then create female primarch as well ? Adepta Broroitas is very much possible if you twist the lore in same way to add female custodes. What pisses me of is that biggest casualty in all of this is sisters of silence. I hope we get some dudes of silence to make up for it.
a little too optimistic there at the end, but I tend to agree with what you said, although I disagree that we have to just accept changes to live in peace with ourselves, if they want to make radical changes they need to think them out and justify them, otherwise it loses the in-universe realism that is at the foundation of every good sci fi franchise, if you can just change everything it stops being a setting with 30+ years of lore and it just becomes a group of nerdy writers and executives writing fanfics... I don't want that! I would still be a fan of star wars if I wanted low quality fanfictions to be made canon just to cater to potential clients who aren't in the hobby to begin with
Valid. I'm personally just tired of complaining. I'm tired of being tired and disappointed. So I am choosing to focus on the things I like and can control. It's messed up that they are changing so much but all that means is what it has always meant. That we can't truly depend on them to gratify our understanding of the setting. We have to define it for ourselves.
What a defeatist attitude. 40K has been an ongoing trainwreck since 6th ed, but I still send them my thoughts and vote with my wallet. Conserving things is always a battle.
I hear you, but I don't feel defeated at all. I feel liberated knowing that I control my own hobby experience despite the changes GW makes. There have been a lot of changes I don't like personally, but I'm tired of complaining, you know? I'd much rather focus on what I like and the things I can change.
Some people can't help but see the world from the shittiest worldview possible. Imagine viewing something as woke because now women can be super soldiers. Couldn't be me.
This doesn't have to affect people who have been in the hobby for a while now. Unless they hate women. Then fuck 'em. Misogynists are dumb, in the community and out of it. But besides that, people can continue to make their own custodes men. That's what I will do.
@@inquisitorvuln oh I see what you did there. Yeah no I don't have a problem with women I'm surrounded by them, I have a problem with woke, which has infected everything. Thanks for trying to frame it that way though, it actually makes a good example of ad hominem. We both know this is exactly what it is, it's pandering to a group of people that will never be happy with the hobby. They will never be happy and they won't stop until the star child, the custodies, space marines, kriegsmen, chaos gods, everything is female, and gay, and people of color. GW will pander the verse into the ground and call anyone who says anything about it misogynist just like you did. Which is crazy.
@@inquisitorvuln You're wrong. It does indeed have to affect all of us because we can see what becomes of every other infiltrated IP. Star Wars, Marvel, DC, and countless other brands and series have been eaten by this ridiculous ESG virus. There are literally people with money out there interested in changing IPs to suit their view of gender relations and social order, and you don't have to just accept that. It's not misogyny to want some things exclusively for men and to want things that were made primarily for men to continue to cater to that audience. If you want to continue to enjoy new additions to the hobby you love, you *must* gatekeep.
It's sad people who support this don't realise how GW is Insulting female factions like sisters of battle and sisters of silence who need more lore and instead adding a female character into a male Faction this isn't balancing this is GW saying Female elite factions are not worthy enough for them to give more lore instead they do this
Custodes went from being a small group of guys in speedo's to a full fledged legion under the Emperor not surprised to see GW continue to retcon/ evolve their lore.
So to be clear. There are plenty of female characters in 40k but your assumption is that 1 female custodian will bring in new customers? But everyone else is naive. The problem is not the lore change... it is WHY it's being changed which is divisive intersectional gender politics. An ideology I do not want forcefed into my hobbies. See the god awful Shadowsun bio for details. I suppose it was by pure chance that a female was promoted and saw the light. Even the manner in which the characters are written about. When idelogy is your first priority your characters and story suffer. Tremendous amount of gaslighting on your part here. The only thing we agree on was the assassin aspect. You don't own the definition or people's use of the word "female". The words woman and female are synonyms, until the last five minutes, when twitter decided it was everyone ELSE that was confused. Now explain how many new customers GW brought in with their ESG chasing stories. You were quick to extoll the small losses so you must surely know the gains. Sincerely, A male. Now you may proceed to ad hominem and mischaracterise till your heart's content.
I mean speaking of assumptions you are making quite a few yourself there. I'm the one that's gaslighting? You are actively choosing to be miserable. You can't help it. And because I offer a solution I'm the one that's gaslighting. Okay, thanks for watching anyway. Good luck.
As far as I have understood, when it comes down to using female/woman or male/man, you use woman/man when you speak of specific person, and female/male in abstract terms, like "female/male dating stragedy" or "female/male anatomy". Also it is worth to point out that woman means "adult human female" so you could use "female" to describe females of all ages, not just adults, same goes for man and male too. For example saying "they are turning women/men into Custodes" is technically wrong, since they are made from infants.
The issue is with the lore specifically having to do with the custodians is not a lot of people know their lore. because they aren't created like spaceman people have assumed that leaves the door open for female custodians even though ever since their first appearance all the way back in second edition, we have been told time and time again that they are males. The Horus Heresy Vol. I: Visions of War page 143: "These men are my bodyguards, their lives forfeit to the guarantee of my physical unity. Of their loyalty to me there shall be no question nor doubt. I, and I alone, shall have the authority to stand in judgement over them. No other commander shall they have in battle nor in service. None shall bar them from me and none shall hamper or stall their mission. So it is decreed." 8E Codex page 14: "they are chosen from sons of noble houses and the process of their recruitment and creation is not known to anybody outside those creating them.... ....they are to the emperor the space marines are to their genefather " 9E Codex page 8: "Members of their own families would not recognize them, should they be alive to see what has happened to their son, nephew or cousin" everyone can say the recon mean Lord doesn't matter, but the bolter has always worked like the Bolter has the space means have always worked like the space have there are certain fundamental parts of the canon, such as the emperor being stuck on the golden Throne no matter how much you reckon it has to stay the same for the universe to function. See also repeated references to a 'Brotherhood of Demigods', all known Custodes having masculine names and appearances, etc etc. The only way you can claim it's more accurate is to say the Lord doesn't matter therefore, everything can change. But if you want to go with that argument, you have to understand that means nothing in Kanan matters means the emperor and the golden throne doesn't matter means space means don't matter this whole universe doesn't matter because everything is fiction. If anybody wants those pictures, but literally on page 6 of this Kodex, where they revealed, it says the brotherhood of Demi gods and keeps referring onto them like that throughout the whole book
If you are not upset that custodes exists, that primarchs are demi gods, and that the Emperor is ANYTHING except a normally every day tyrant who wanted to enslave humanity.... If you're not upset about that lore ....then you don't actually have a complaint about lore changes. Cause that was a MUCH larger (and nonsensical) lore change than allowing women to be custodes (and yes eventually primaris marines)
I think GW made this change and announced it in an antagonistic way to use the inevitable controversy as cheap marketing: when you look at the lack of accompanying art or anything else besides a few lines in the new codex and that tweet it seems clear to me that they're instigating. I personally don't care for the lore change but I also don't appreciate the intrustion of contemporary political or culture war issues into the hobby, in fact part of my enjoyment of it comes from the escape from that BS that it provides. Ultimately I do agree with you that GW can do what they want with their lore, and we can do what we want with our own version of it, but I am disappointed that they're going out of their way to sow discord between fellow enthusiasts and also that so many have eagerly taken the bait.
An assassin taking part in the blood games makes a lot of sense. Too bad GW are not bright enough to use elements of their own lore to spice the lore up because they flat out said there have always been female custodes : / . The imperium can only manage to make a single custodes every year without big E using noble sons, they don't have the resources to play emperor of mankind.
So long as it isn't 50/50 men to women in the custodes I don't care. I think its fine, I'm just more worried about the Custodes being WORTHLESS on the tabletop.
As someone outside of the Warhammer fandom, I find this whole situation bizarre. Especially the "fan" reaction. It makes me even less interested in engaging with this specific part of miniature-related hobby.
Of course, you would like them to pander to you and only you, right? Because what you want is the only thing that matters. Because how you want the lore to be is the only thing that they should follow.
Your vid I feel like has been the best take on this topic because literally everyone else is talking about how they're happy 'golden muscle mommies' are a thing or about the 'wokehammer won...".I feel this short story was written in this specific way to cause controversy and piss off a certain group of people by basically 'trolling' them for not looking into it further and taking at surface value. It also is definitely worded vaguely enough to confuse people into thinking they're actual female custodes and buying custodes because of the mere potential misread suggestion. It allows G.W to profit without actually having to confirm or deny it It's a little funny but part of me is concerned. Stuff like this reminds me of how modern spiderman is written with marvel where they know what a bunch of the pain points the fans have and will use them just so they can get pissed off get further engagement. Instead of still reading the books out of frustration and bitter hope though, it's guys who generate free advertising in a sense. Perhaps this is the very future of how collective setting creators and fans interact with eachother under capitalism....
Right? There's no way they write this without thinking about the impact it would have on people. The more controversy, the more attention. Unfortunately, this video is confirmation of that. I spend weeks making lore deep dive videos only for them to get a couple of hundred views tops. But I make a video talking about this and it's gets hundreds of views an hour. Drama sells and it's kinda depressing. That being said, I apologize for the Click- bait thumbnail image. But I appreciate you watching and commenting.
@@inquisitorvuln keep working on those deep dives man, your lamenters one was actually super eye-opening and added so much to a chapter I already loved.
Was waiting to see what Inquisitor Vuln's take would be :) Level-headed, I like it. For my two cents, (and possibly unpopular take): I actually think female custodes can make sense. I think about it like this: The Emperor is a one-of-a-kind psyker immortal that has dedicated his entire existence to saving the human race. Doesn't it make sense that as part of his hand-crafted immortal companions and advisors that he would include all aspects of the species that he has dedicated his entire existence to saving? If they are just men, he is automatically excluding half the species from having his ear. Also, if they really are making female custodes, I would personally prefer that they retcon and make so there have always been female custodes. I'm a big fan of clever retcons, instead of moving the story forward approach. It's why the primaris don't work for me and I think they should've been retconned instead of suddenly appearing in 40K and breaking the whole "there is no progress" theme so completely. But that's just my take, I can understand that a lot of people would not agree and I fully understand the other view as well.
Thank you for watching and commenting. My idea for the second Primarch, Adiphron, was that his geneseed quirk was that it enabled both men and women to become Astartes and that the only reason it's not possible now is because his geneseed has been discontinued. So, I'm personally not against the idea of women Custodes or space marines. While I won't change how I build my miniatures , I'm more concerned about GW gaslighting and lying to the community and saying this has always been a thing in the lore. If it's a new thing, I can deal with that.
I kinda feel like women becoming Custodes is a softer blow than women becoming space marines. There’s been concrete rules in-setting stating that all Astartes are men… but it’s just been conversations about Custodes being all men, never that it can only be me. Either way, I collect Death Guard and a homebrew Primaris - unless this is the start of the dreaded slippery slope argument, this doesn’t really affect me.
You get it. True for me as well, I play my homebrew chapter, Inquisition and Necrons. Doesn't really affect me either. But it does seem like a softer blow. They might do the same to Astartes but we will cross that bridge when we get there.
@@inquisitorvuln Im interested in how they’d try to push the female minis for Custodes/Astartes - would they make heroes thatre retconned back into the start of the timeline, so they were always there and always badass? Or will they insert them fresh in the 41st millennium and then have them earn their way to glory. And how would GW push the female minis? Considering how many people would refuse to buy them, would they make them effectively “must includes” in army lists to promote purchases and inclusion? In a weird way it’s harder for the fiction, because there’s just not that weight of real world decades of stories behind any of these potentially new female characters.
tbh i am all an in for 10 ft tall amazoness women in my setting. jokes aside I agree with your point, tho if GW says that custodes can be women now, why haven't we seen any before? that's my only issue, but aside from that i'm fine with it
Games Workshop CAVED to the feminist lobby. Haven’t they seen what “Sweet Baby” did to the “Suicide Squad Kills the Justice League”? Female Custodes is heresy
anyone actually interested in learning why all these old beloved franchises (WH40k, Star Wars, Star trek, Marvel, comic books etc.) are retconning and changing to cater to modern politics I strongly urge you to research companies such as BlackRock, Vanguard and others. Scummiest part is they're using people retirement funds for these investments pushing DEI and ESG policies. Larry Fink the CEO of BlackRock has stated their mission is to force politics in entertainment to further social engineer the populace.
Ive been a player since early second edition. I have old school rogue trader minis in my collection. There have been lore changes and retcons since the change from Rogue Trader to 2nd and all the time since. Its a fact of the hobby. There are plenty of good reasons for not wanting to support GW anymore, like rapidly escalating prices (a starter box rule books, two sides of minis and scenery used to cost £40), the stores no longer being places to share the hobby (no more veterans nights), but just shove expensive army boxes on new players and the speed at which new minis will be semi-invalidated. "Women in muh Custodes / Marines etc?!" Is the dumbest reason.
it's a lazy crowbar-ing in of the awful woke crap infecting most of the western entertainment companies and you know it. if they actually cared about both female characters and the lore, they'd be giving sisters of battle more novels, or books about female Guardsmen or inquisitors. let's at least be honest about this shit
Based on what I have seen, there was never any lore which said that female Custodes were impossible, so I am not too angry about the change. I just hope we don't get a massive range revival, where all the bodies and models get changed out; kinda like Stormcast and why I can't reliably use them for my own kitbashes anymore regarding my Space Marines.
@@inquisitorvuln Absolutely, I am simply voicing my own potential issues. I am far less concerned with a lore change, than I am a product refresh being done. Where has previously been stated that the Custodes are exclusively men? I can't recall ever reading about that before, also never got that specified in any lore video's I've watched or any wiki's I've read through, I don't think GW lied but let me know. Furthermore your theory doesn't seem more than "name is similar to me", the perspective we get is partly from her inner monologue, which talks about "gene-crafted", the captain of the ship refers to her as "my lady" but also "sir", which in this case could be a courtesy within the military ranking as that is sometimes also used to refer to a female commander in some cases but this shows that the captain knows the Custodian on his ship is a woman and other than being scared as shit for what he is doing, he doesn't seem surprised that a Custodian can be a woman. Personally I think it's a bit silly to get mad over this, it shouldn't matter, you can make your models however you want. I do think your take on it is true and I agree, but lying I'm not sure about.
There isn't an in your face, "no girls allowed" statement, but the Custodes have always and only ever been referred to as men. There are multiple quotes from previous codices and other sources where given the opportunity, male terminology is always used - i.e. men, sons, brothers, brotherhood etc. That's pretty explicit. There are other videos on YT where you can find these quotes displayed. So as you can see from the pinned comment, when GW states that "there have always been female Custodians, since the first of the Ten Thousand were created", regardless of anyones feelings on the matter, they are blatantly lying. If there have always been female custodes, why has there been not a solitary mention of them thus far? However you look at it, gaslighting (overused, but this does in fact fall within the actual definition of it) the fanbase is wrong.
Yeah that's one thing I'm not going to entertain. Custodes have always been men. ADB wrote about how he wasn't allowed to write Women Custodes because of GW's old management and that's proof enough that they never were because they were never allowed to be. GW is gaslighting us because they control the lore. It's that simple. My problem is they could have said " this is a possibility now where it wasn't before" but instead they are attempting to rewrite history as if we don't have codex's to prove it.
well female Custodes getting schlonged by the Big E can be canon. i dislike the lore changes but as long as they make the female Custodes as super rare and are pretty much unicorns among the ranks. but im sure authors like Mike Brookes are gonna make this lore change more divided among the fans
I think people need to grow the hell up and stop being so threatened about change. Female custodes is a great thing and I hope some awesome sleeker custodian armour plate is born from this
My two cents here, I for one would think the Emperors own genemancy is greater than petty limittions of gender. Meaning that women custodes don't break the lore
I hear you. Technically they break the lore as it was. But if Cawl can create Primaris, he could probably figure out a way to make women Custodes. The future of 40k may look very different.

Well, only about a year ago I had the thought that, while female Astartes would be silly, there really isn't any reason not to have female Custodes, from a lore perspective. These guys have to be hand-crafted by the Emperor's gene-science personally, so his personal limits exceeding whatever problems the mass-production of Astartes recalcitrance to women would be seems likely, and the spirit of a monastic warrior society isn't necessarily what Custodes are either. Perhaps the writers could have gone with how the techno-barbarian cultures ended up being more misogynistic overall, and that Big E was just working within his means to account for the lack of initial female Custodes, but then as the generations past, he could inculcate more women in down the track, but I guess they chose not to...

And Slave to Darkness. There are female Chaos Warriors in the current kit. It's a good thing. It's interesting to me how it's only in the 40k side of the hobby there is so much diaper-filling over women. But of course, misogynists gonna misogynist
Difference is Age of Sigmar is a new setting with no established lore. The Stormcast is recruited from great champions and heroes among the mortals, all of which is gender neutral. So they can make female Stormcast and chaos warriors. However 40k has an established lore one of them is that the Custodes are taken from the sons of the nobility. Also there ARE a female army within the custodes rank that fans actually have been wanting to see expanded. The Sisters of Silence.
@@nurglerider781 Ah yes, everyone is a misogynist. Why does the Imperium care about gender politics? Females born to serve the emperor can already do so via the Sisters of battle/silence and the Guard.
@nurglerider781 if there's so much "Diaper-filling" about women in 40k as you so eloquently put it, why is it that sisters of battle or sisters of silence seemingly are fine? I'd think if it was misogyny as you claim those two factions that are ONLY women would get all of that hate?
I honestly don’t understand why this upsets so many people. GW puts out contradictory lore and updates stuff all the time. I find it so weird how upset some of you are
A lot of them are secretly misogynists. Some of them just don't like change. A few of them are genuinely distraught about how different the setting is becoming from how they understood the setting to be previously. I have sympathy for the latter group most of all. I felt the same way when Primaris came about. But now I don't care anymore, I use what I want, collect what I want and play what I want. More people should have this approach instead of waiting for GW to gratify them. Also, to be fair, this is a pretty big retcon. Especially when they are now telling us that there have always been women Custodes when that just isn't true.
@@inquisitorvulnagree with 99% of what you said friend! I think I disagree on the size of the retcon though.

So I won't.
People keep saying that as if space marines and Custodes are equal
Marines have geneseed and black carapace, Custodes do not.

Awesome, love it! that custodes kill team calls once again...

Okay, thanks for watching anyway. Good luck.
Thank you for being honest, you are a true inquisitor. Consistent in anything must be upheld at anytime.
I: Visions of War page 143:
"These men are my bodyguards, their lives forfeit to the guarantee of my physical unity. Of their loyalty to me there shall be no question nor doubt. I, and I alone, shall have the authority to stand in judgement over them. No other commander shall they have in battle nor in service. None shall bar them from me and none shall hamper or stall their mission. So it is decreed."
8E Codex page 14: "they are chosen from sons of noble houses and the process of their recruitment and creation is not known to anybody outside those creating them.... ....they are to the emperor the space marines are to their genefather "
9E Codex page 8: "Members of their own families would not recognize them, should they be alive to see what has happened to their son, nephew or cousin" everyone can say the recon mean Lord doesn't matter, but the bolter has always worked like the Bolter has the space means have always worked like the space have there are certain fundamental parts of the canon, such as the emperor being stuck on the golden Throne no matter how much you reckon it has to stay the same for the universe to function.
Whats wrong with women custodes or space marines? As long as it ties into the lore well im all for it.
Kesh Spitelore, likely exists to prove why the Emperor never made female space marines. Likely also the reason the 2nd and 11th were killed off.
They have been sneaking it in for the past decade.
So long as it isn't 50/50 men to women in the custodes I don't care. I think its fine, I'm just more worried about the Custodes being WORTHLESS on the tabletop.
As someone outside of the Warhammer fandom, I find this whole situation bizarre.

It makes me even less interested in engaging with this specific part of miniature-related hobby.

It also is definitely worded vaguely enough to confuse people into thinking they're actual female custodes and buying custodes because of the mere potential misread suggestion. It allows G.W to profit without actually having to confirm or deny it

I think about it like this:
The Emperor is a one-of-a-kind psyker immortal that has dedicated his entire existence to saving the human race.
Emperor blessed you vuln . With this theorys you just can make this lore worke without becoming a pile of bulshit
I personally don't care, and I like the concept of hot babes in power armour.
Oh please let female space marines happen. I can't stand space marines and this would destroy not only the faction but GW with it.
is this your fist retcon?
because GW does this all the time whenever they add new units and armies

Yesterday was a funny time on twitter
There goes yet another of my hobbies. I'm running out of shit that isn't infected by modern politics.
Apparently, 'lore changes' is when nothing in the lore contradicts it.
Stay mad.
Gooners are gonna goon.
Definitely not whats happening
I'd take down this video if I were u. It's an embarrassment riddled with ignorance and an NPC mindset...
anyone actually interested in learning why all these old beloved franchises (WH40k, Star Wars, Star trek, Marvel, comic books etc.) are retconning and changing to cater to modern politics I strongly urge you to research companies such as BlackRock, Vanguard and others.
Facts. Let's talk about the real problems.
it's a lazy crowbar-ing in of the awful woke crap infecting most of the western entertainment companies and you know it. if they actually cared about both female characters and the lore, they'd be giving sisters of battle more novels, or books about female Guardsmen or inquisitors. let's at least be honest about this shit
What change? GW hasn't actually confirmed that there will be. We should wait and see before jumping to conclusions.
@@inquisitorvuln Absolutely, I am simply voicing my own potential issues. I am far less concerned with a lore change, than I am a product refresh being done. But, overall with the added context of how the story was actually told, it seems less that there are Female Custodes and more that a leak was taken out of context for rage bait.
@@inquisitorvuln actually their official Twitter/X has responded and I quote "there have always been female Custodians since the first Ten Thousand were made".

However that isn´t what it says it says Sons so, that´s pretty definitive.
Well, what a way to kill off a franchise. This continous push for woke ideological pandering is going to burn 40k. Anyone that doesnt think so, just look at Marvel and Star wars, literal God tier IPs compared to 40k, and theyre absolutely floundering.
This has to be one if not the most lazy move by GW
I can’t tell if you’re a Nurglite vector or a Tzeentch loremaster 😂, “There is nothing you can do it about it. Sit in that sense of powerlessness and realize if you are even remotely upset by that change it comes from two things, that sense of powerlessness in the face of change and the holding on to previous lore.” Both despair and change were brought up in this statement and I thought about sharing that cool connection. All in all, I believe you are right

Because there are women in the Custodes? What's wrong with you, are you a misogynist or something?
@@inquisitorvuln Why can't we have fat drukari? Why can't tyranids choose to be vegetarian? Why should everyone fight instead of being at peace? Why won't necrons learn to share? Why won't the chaos gods like each other?
Should we also change this part of the lore too?
Also, why not male sisters of battle (The cooler version of female space marines)? Male sisters of silence? Why won't warhammer be a romcom musical?
Afteral, it's missogenistic against people who like romcoms? Are you a biggot against golden bananna boys?
What about a coconut race? It's racist agianst people who like coconuts?
The anwser is that if YOU interpret the lore differently eg purple ultramarines than it's find if YOU will PAINT yours differently. *You don't have to force everyone to like the same thing as you do*. If you like them different then go right ahead, I won't prevent you to have fun converting.
Yeah its so weird like people are saying 'super powers are one thing but super powers on women?? Are you nuts???'
Female custodes is a great thing and I hope some awesome sleeker custodian armour plate is born from this
I subbed off this video
My two cents here, I for one would think the Emperors own genemancy is greater than petty limittions of gender. Meaning that women custodes don't break the lore
I hear you. Technically they break the lore as it was. But if Cawl can create Primaris, he could probably figure out a way to make women Custodes. The future of 40k may look very different.

Female Custodes models would be pretty cool.
God no...
Warhammer fans when not every single shred of precious lore gets perfectly preserved

Just give Warhammer 40,000 the Age of Sigmar treatment.
There are female Stormcast Eternals after all.
And Slave to Darkness. There are female Chaos Warriors in the current kit. It's a good thing. It's interesting to me how it's only in the 40k side of the hobby there is so much diaper-filling over women. But of course, misogynists gonna misogynist
It seems they might be going in that direction if this is actually a change they will make. For now we don't really know for sure.
Trans fetishism and it’s consequences.
I get what you mean. But I think it just has more to do with capitalism than anything else.
