  • Today we are bringing back the wedding guest fashion edition special! This was one of the most beautiful events of our lifetime, and while the bride's gown certainly will never fade out of fashion, I cannot say the same about most of the wedding guests!!
    Looking back we have SO MUCH SILVER I don't know why we tried to make metallic fabrics a thing.... it was a mistake! We have awful silver dresses, everywhere. Someone got caught in a fishnet, and, the York girls had the most sensational fascinators!
    Happy Friday! I've got a fun Fashion Edition for you today, we are taking a look back at the wedding guests from Prince William & (then) Kate/Catherine Middleton now the Prince & Princess of Wales. This beloved couple had the most beautiful royal wedding to date, and if you missed the wedding gown special fashion edition, you can watch it here: • MEGHAN'S VEIL BELONGED... because we cover many of the royal ladies' gowns including Catherine's most beautiful wedding gown. Hands down I haven't seen a gown as beautiful as that, ever.

    Beatrice took all the mockery in her stride and sold the hat on EBay for over £80000 with the proceeds going to UNICEF. She has had a lot of criticism over the years for her fashion choices but I think she has improved a lot recently.

    (Long comment! 🙃) My favourite outfit of the ones you covered is Princess (now Queen) Maxima’s. Fun fact: the diamond stars pinned to her hat were worn on her own wedding day as her tiara toppers. Sweet, huh?
    Bea’s hat was cray-cray and her heavy eye makeup didn’t help either. I agree that her coat was lovely but the button placket at the bustline gaped open - something that should never happen with couture clothing. Zara’s hat was fierce! SamCam’s big controversy was that she didn’t wear a hat at all. All ladies wear hats when attending a daytime royal wedding in the Church of England.
    I’ve always loved Sophie’s ensemble from that day. Sad trivia: she was in a serious riding accident just a few days before this wedding. She had broken a rib and had bruised a few more! Ribs are left to heal on their own so she just had painkillers to help her cope. She was such a trouper, attending all of the wedding events. If you watch video of the wedding, you can see her husband glancing at her and it seems he was watching to see how she was coping. I can only guess that he had staff standing by who could have assisted her if her pain level became unbearable.

    • @heatherjones6647
      @heatherjones6647 9 месяцев назад +3

      When my mother broke her ribs, she still had to go to work teaching. The nurse wrapped her up in a long tensor bandage and she didn't even need painkillers after the second day. She would have a bath and then get wrapped again; she healed very well thanks to everything being held in place. Maybe Sophie was wrapped, too; I can't see her getting through it all without it.

      I think both Beatrice and Eugenie were equal opportunity fashion-dabblers. They liked everything and they tried so many styles which, come to think of it, is pretty common for young women of their ages (in 2011). Princess Beatrice's fascinator was too jaw-dropping for the occasion. It can only be received as gimmicky and that's so out of place at a wedding unless all are invited to appproach as though it's Brazilian Carnevale. I also didn't care for the "raccoon eyes" makeup. Princess Eugenie's hemline looked like an error and caused double-takes for that reason and a WEDDING is not the occasion for making a fashion statement.

I rather appreciate those amongst us who are a little clumsy and not quite chic but are sweet, genuine and eager to please, as well as natural and without guile. A lot of the “ shiny” fabrics were in fact raw silk, silk and the stiffer ones were taffeta. Very very on trend at the time and entirely suited to formal wedding wear. However, the silks do not photograph very well, and taffeta is so stiff, perfect for ball gowns with voluminous skirts but clearly tricky in coats and coat dresses.

    Wow...I remember the York sisters like it was yesterday. It was sort of a public debut for them as adults and everyone had such high hopes....then...POW! Their ensembles just hit you in the face! As sisters; they clashed horribly. I noticed that nude color in several people, and I have never liked it, in or out! It just does nothing for anyone's complexion. And Eugenie's dress...I wanted to like it so much, but it was like hanging a shirt on a round coat hanger! Eugenie's fascinator was another punch with that dark plum color..almost a dying red rose...ugh. And her skirt...was it riding up under the top layer? I wanted to yank it down and unfold it. And of course, Beatrice's fascinator was just odd gawful! Someone said if it were black it would be a tarantula! EEK! The worst comment I remember about the two were likened to "tweedle dee and tweedle dum"...which was a horrible thing to say, but at that time, they were not known very well to the public other than the offspring of their scandalous mother... and that was LONG before their dad made his lecherous debut!

Watch the full attention she gives the Reverend's eulogy to Prince Philip (Thanksgiving Service at Westminster Abbey). She is highly educated, and came out and said "it isn't difficult to be an actor in the Royal Family", when Meghan Markle dumped all over them from a great height. .

    Beatrice and Eugenie have grown up with little fashion guidance. No one can accuse their mother of being a smart fashion icon. I doubt they have full time staff to advise them about dressing to their station. They are just in that awkward situation of having high rank, but not high enough rank to warrant the advice they really needed at that time. Regarding peep-toe shoes, Princess Margaret wore them all the time. Her spouse, Earl Snowden, used to tease her about her fashion choices and said she looked like a Jewish manicurist.🤣
