FILM DESCRIPTION:
A lonely middle-aged woman befriends some teenagers and decides to let them party in the basement of her home. But there are some house rules: One of the kids has to stay sober, don't curse, and never go upstairs. They must also refer to her as Ma. But as Ma's hospitality starts to curdle into obsession, what began as a teenage dream turns into a terrorizing nightmare, and Ma's place goes from the best place in town to the worst place on Earth.

A Critic said that Darnell got the least punishment because he was the only one who was actually always nice to Ma at all times and even gave her her nickname. ☺️
I love how she just caused the two other kids so much pain and yet she only painted the black kid’s face white. Wow. (This is a good movie tho!)
I mean in most situations it's the other way around. Black person gets incredible pain or just straight up dead, while white person ends up untouched, or mild or medium rated injured
I think it's just dumb because in torture movies (like saw) everyone dies horribly, like their connections have nothing to do with how they die.
But in this movie a girl is forced to watch as Ma sews a girl's lips shut (which if you have access to scissors you could remove) one got the back of their head caved in from getting hit by an iron, and the guy gets his face painted white....

I mean I wasn't really expecting anything to happen to the black kid. There weren't any black kids in the flashbacks that could've been part of the prank, plus he was nice to Ma the entire movie. She most likely did that because she was the only black person in her school, hence she said, "there can only be one of us."

Basically these teens get a woman to buy them alcohol and she ends up letting them drink at her house. Turns out she has a dark past involving the kids’ parents. I won’t spoil anything else, please watch the film its so good!

Idk why, but I feel like the part where she paints the black dude is kind of powerful. In almost every movie/show, there’s only one black friend and since Ma wants to be part of the group (and she’s black) “there’s only room for one of us” and she paints him white. I dunno, kind of powerful
