The way I see it people do applaud the DEVS when a game does a comeback after fixing glitches and adding missing content. The thing is, it's always the leadership that decides release dates, not the devs, so people do understand that devs are not at fault here most of the times, specially when the game clearly shows signs that devs care even if it's unfinished. People do give props to devs, not to the company itself
Then why threaten devs instead of the higher-ups?
@@pingpong5877Because they are the public faces, people never complain to investors
@@pingpong5877 because some people can also be short sighted for these things

Early access is not always bad, just recenty, dave the diver and balders gate 3 came out to fantastic reviews, both being in early access for ages. Balder gate 3 was in early access for 3 years. Often it can cause issues, but sometimes its necessary to help build bigger games that cant be done in one go without some feedback and cashflow.
I love creating fictional worlds so. I HATE when companies like Blizzard make original concepts, then care for making money over expanding the world
i keep wondering maybe its not just the game developers higher-ups fault
but the players who keep throwing money at it is the part pf the problem
I always find it amusing when people say, "is the gaming industry in trouble?" or that some notable comapines (EA, Acti-Blizzard), or a couple of bad releasees (or more recent bad PC releases) has people say, "Tripple A games are a joke." "The game indsutry is a joke."
Meanwhile I've been enjoying Tears of the Kingdom, I loved Elden Ring and every Souls game, my favorite game of recent memory is Ghost of Tsushima, and I am extremely excited for Spiderman 2, Alan Wake 2, and especially Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Maybe I just have a good eye to not be burned by titles like others have. I certainly don't like multiplayer FPS games for a reason.
Garnt is part of the problem. 😔

What "part of the problem"? He literally said he played the game a year later (7:00) when the patches had rolled out and he had a great overall experience. The problem is consumers pre-ordering and hyping the game up as if it was the second coming of christ enabling this greedy executives to release unfinished games. I ain't even gonna mention some doofuses going to twitter and harassing devs when the games are delayed/doesn't have release dates(God of War dev got harassed due to delay announcement.)
I'm the mindset of "patient gaming" where I play the games a year or so later, where the bugs are fixed, it's on a discount, and the hype of the game has disappeared so I can form my own opinion of the game. There's no "problem", only idiots who spend their money without being diligent consumers. Watch game reviews ffs.

Hmm! Virulent capitalism really do be compromising the outcome quality of commercial art and entertainment media.
1:56 A Jet Set Radio anime with OST by Hideki Naganuma would be dope.
There should be a minimum standard of release. Regardless if they fix it. People can wait as long if it’s good.
I think most people are happy to wait for a proper finished release, I would've happily waited 2-3 more years for CP2077, people are waiting for hollow knight silksong rn, even though some prefer to hear about a release I'd rather just have games get announced, shadow drop released when finished and then enjoyed
Fromsoft has made an entire game Armored Core 6 n-between releasing the Elden ring DLC and the OG game, all Fromsoft DLC for their games so far have been well worth it in my opinion, none have felt like cheap cash grabs, I think that matters a lot to consumers mindsets
So many companies like game freak leave their games unfinished for years. Scarlet and violet will never be fixed
Games had such a large boost during covid and lockdowns that even a profitable game right now will show in the red compared to 2-3 years ago.
They just forgot about Baldurs gate 3
recorded before BG3 wasn't it?
why older games is still hold up because it's a finished and completed games so we don't have to wait a year to play the games beside the prices coming down the only thing that hold us to play a game its the price. I hate it that now it becomes a standard and the norm to release unfinished game then update it a month later in this case is dying light 2 and cyberpunk which is a good decision on the business point of view but its a bad thing on the customer side cause it is basically a bad product that the company gives to their customers
I agree that companies shouldn't release DLC. I respect the Trails series because each entry is complete, even if the story isn't complete, and each gives incentive to replay it by making the best weapons/armor partially or completely unavailable on a first run through alone. It's a better structure than making a game that doesn't give incentive to replay and then tacts on an interesting but irrelevant (to me the consumer) expansion a year or more later.
Best DLC : The old hunters (Bloodborne)
If you are buying a new car and have six company options to pick from and know all will come with major problems but if your lucky you will pick the one company that ends up fixing their car you just have to pick the right one because the rest are lost causes, would that be a comfortable situation to be in ? or would it be better that 5 of the six cars will run and the one that doesn't will get recalled and you'll get your money back so you can chose another
Haven't watched the episode yet but since Sojourn is in the thumbnail, F for Overwatch 2(Highest Negatively rated game on steam rn) and FU for Blizzard Activision
Heres a good way of putting it.
Due to it being such a new mainstream media industry, it doesn't seem to be figured out yet, plus with higher ups in multi-billion dollar corporations who are all like 60 and never played a game in their lives, it'll change with the next generation, us.
A film is each set scene and shows the audience only what they want to be seen for 2 hours, games have 50+ hours most the time with every possible angle needing to be made in a unique way, and these higher ups want that done in 2-3 years, when the average should be 8-10. Games are like Marvel movies, pumped out too quickly by greedy businessmen, it will change though.
One counter to DLCs: proper expansion packs, like with both Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine of Witcher 3. Both were a whole game worth of content, while working well for Witcher, especially as original novels had both the saga and short stories compilations
Agree 100% with Conner regarding the DLC. BotW, Pokemon, ACNH, etc. all have DLC but I will never play it because I don't play those games anymore.
The dlc take about Elden ring they literally did go and make another game being armoured core 6 and more just a from software and thing is the dlc is definitely more for hardcore fans who want more lore and explanations to the many open ended things we are left with typically at the end of a from software game and 99% of the time the DLC are very well done and worth playing IF you're a fan of the games
Cyberpunk gets a free pass in this argument for me because the devs didn't want to release it in it's "launch state" but were contractually obligated to, they then spent basically an entire extra year working on it to make it as good as they wanted it to be.
The problem arises when companies see this as an opportunity to effectively release the game twice, once at launch when they drop the half functioning incomplete mess, and again a year or two later when it's done.
Early access kinda helps because at least it's telling you "the game isn't done yet, but you can still buy it and even help us play test the parts that are ready-ish"
Why is a game in the thumbnail that isn’t even mentioned in the video?
RDC has a great video that summarizes up how I feel about DLC. “No people don’t want to pay $60 for a full game. They want to pay $60 for half the game and then pay another $60 for the other half.”
SK's birthrate is really something else. Many developed nations are panicking as well, but when they see SK's birthrate is below 1.0, even they get flabbergasted.
I want Bloodborne on PC
Connor didn’t give a shit take at all. He’s right. We shouldn’t be paying 20-30+ dollars when we already overpaid for the game lol. Games should ALL cost as much as the upcoming AC mirage, not over 100 dollars like it is in Canada and most other places in the world. Then they expect more on top of that. If you’re going to make me pay 99 bucks with even more in tax on top, I should be getting a COMPLETE product.
That depends on the DLC, if it just a measly lame cosmetic or one short campaign, then it's not worth it. However if it is the opposite then it's worth it.
The thing is that most DLC is of the cheap additions kind. So in general, unless you tack on another game or intricate story, it either should be free or in the base game to begin with.
9:27 I have a different take on DLC. I would rather buy a proper DLC, with a new story characters etc. then buying a numbered sequel that felt like an asset flip of the previous game with a different storyline.
A great example of this is borderlands 2 and the worse example of this is Overwatch 2.
Garnt saying he loves Cybeprunk 2077. Once again proving that he has the best taste among the three.
😂
i played immortal phoenix rising recently because zelda TOTK released and i don't have switch, I actually really enjoyed it. Only to find out earlier this month that Ubisoft cancelled the second project and choosing to make 6 games of assassins intead, the game that i never played after unity which i got for free from steam event. It's soo stupid!
about the unfinished product thing i swear its also the consumers fault. Dont yall remember when halo infinite was gonna come out but instead they said they need more time and we said yes take ur time make it good then ppl basically started rioting on forums that it was taking to long
the problem isn't that the developers came back to fix the game, its the countless studios that don't, if the standard is developers can release broken unfinished games witch their is a 70 to 90 % chance it wont ever get completed so you wasted your money but don't worry because you might of got the game that will be fix, that is a absolutely terrible base line to be at for consumer's
Naaahh......i dont know if its dead but all i play are jrpg or japan oriented style game and all of them are fine
Just because they solved some bugs and changed minor things, doesn't make CP2077 a good game, the game as RPG is really bad, no content, no real interactivity/elections(even tho they said there would be before the release). The world is empty, nothing really to do, no customization. And when they release a little bit of content, a DLC, they charge 30 bucks for it. CP2077 still needs a lot of work, but they are moving to other projects
It's a process issue. Studios need to adjust their dev cycles to account for the added scope of their projects... adding people doesn't always mean a linear decrease in time needed to finish a project.
So like, I don't think people should give Devs a pass for releasing unfinished games and then fixing them after release... and people should absolutely get on them for it... but the solution for developers and publishers is just to take whatever the industry standard time for their game to bake and add 1-2 years to that for future releases. If they take more time to build it, so that the finished product at least feels good to play and is complete, then people will forgive the extra time needed for development (especially because game's are announced well into their development process) and even will forgive buggy games, provided the bugs don't get in the way of the complete experience.
Baldur's Gate 3 act 3 is buggy as fuck! But Act 1 and 2 are smooth and you can complete the game without significant issues (even with the act 3 bugs)... The game is a GOTY contender as a result. That's because BG3 feels like a complete video game... most AAA titles do not.
Obviously shitty predatory microtransaction economies ALSO lead to people being pissed, but that's a whole different can of worms xD.
At this point high ranks on dev studios are pretty much mr krabs
Honestley nerd culture in general seems to be in shambles
nah just blizzard
LoL Philippines is fine by the way! 😂
One opinion I'd like to share about DLCs: I am perfectly ok with extra content being added to a base game, but for f*cks sake don't charge people extra money for that bullcrap.
My favorite game of all time added a DLC to the game with some incredible content that was greatly desired by the players & really made the game so much better. The DLC was released 1 year & 7 months after the base game's initial release, HOWEVER what the developers did properly was they had the DLC content added to the base game FOR FREE & anyone who purchased the game after the DLC's release would get the entire package as one complete, fulfilling game experience. While I did not pay the full retail price of $60 USD for it, I do believe that the game is EASILY worth that value.
It shouldn’t be celebrated when a dev fixes their game. In fact games that release in unplayable states should outright be boycotted and never allowed to succeed. Otherwise it’s just going to keep happening
They don’t talk about overwatch yet they use the title
Because Overwatch sums up the current AAA as a whole.
Relax, gaming is not on the decline.

The biggest problem with gaming right now in my opinion is that major video game companies only care about profits and the bottom line, even if it's to the determent of the games they release and their reputation. That's why games like Elden Ring and Tears of the Kingdom were such a big deal because it showed people that there are still AAA video game companies out there that give a shit.

I agree with Connon. I hate DLC system that company's and people adopted. Make a game 100% from the factory. Whatever future plans are, whatever future DLCs are add them to the game at release and just charge $60 and call it a day. I miss the 90's-2010's where games were 100% complete on release. the xenoblade 2 and 3 dlcs were well worth the money torna and future connected were amazing
but how could you say that while BaldursGate is a success?
Xenoblade does dlc better than anything else, half the price of the base games to get new game modes and bonuses along with full separate game prequel stories that would normally go for the cost of a new full game from most developers
This is why i love xenoblade games.
Each DLC is basically its own game with its own mechanics so youre essentially getting a new title.
FR. Monolith Soft went above and beyond with Xenoblade Chronicles. Those Expansion Pass DLCs like Torna and Future Redeemed made my standards with DLCs so high.
All that, plus Monolith having limited crunch issues as of me writing this, allegedly.
Xenoblade 3 dlc was insane
Quite the clickbaity title, i’d say this year is the best gaming has been in the last half a decade with how many good games are coming out. Just off the top of my head: RE4r, DSr, BBr, SF6, HFR, R2, P4, BG3, Totk, FF16.

We're at 8 Billion people. If anything, we need to decline the birth rate in larger countries
The problem is executives who forces devs to release stuff way too early.
For me the "release when is ready" made so much sense for Cyberpunk, but software development is hard, management try to set deadlines that can't be meet.
They haven't be debugging a program for 2 weeks and feel hopeless.
Games should be released in a playable state. If it's not ready don't release it
As someone who extensively played cyberpunk at launch it really wasn’t that bad. There were issues sure but I put hundreds of hours in while it was still “broken”.
It was broken to be clear, but there actual was a narrative of it being way worse than it was.
Hard truth is that as someone who played through the whole game early is that the game has barely changed. People say it’s been “fixed” but for me the experience is near identical. Except for the one k-hop tech/glitch they removed loved that so much.

The real problem Connor has with games that he has yet to realise is skipping cutscenes and not understanding the story does not equal bad game, you’re impatient.
He... Never calls them bad, he says he doesnt enjoy them, but he (iirc) never outright calls them bad games, best he just takes a jab at how much time they force people to read between gameplay loops
1. He doesn't call games with story bad he just prefers games to be games not a full on book/TV series.
2. He's very open minded, he's been playing games like Final Fantasy and reading dialogue and when he does skip it's fair enough cuz' some of the dialogue drags, plus he states that he's looking forward to playing another.
Making up shit is not an argument
That's because cutscenes are boring most of the time

Aren’t sequels to any game technically DLC?
If we look at Zelda tears of the kingdom, it’s literally the same world with added content. Similarly, Monster Hunter World had a legit DLC called Iceborne that pretty much does the same thing Tears of the kingdom did with breath of the wild. They added more content in an already established world.

I played Cyberpunk at release and I didmt experienced any bugs and only had 1 crash. Rendering performance was sometimes an issue but nothing too bad. The cracks just showed up for me when i started modding the game.
I have the complete opposite take regarding Pokemon Sword/Shield DLCs and Persona 5 Royal. I really liked the characters and story of Sword/Shield and felt my $60 was well spent. My experience with base Persona 5 was fine. I liked and hated characters equally. Now you're telling I could've waited a year to play Persona 5 but better? Nah.
