I had just turned 3 years old on December 20th, 1999. I wish my brain had fully developed enough to watch this monumental moment. I think the year 2000 was when I started remembering my surroundings
I remember being a child watching Speakers Corner that year and people were talking about the world potentially ending. I went to sleep early because I was too scared the world would explode at right at midnight 😂😂
I remember how everyone was worried the world would fall apart because of concerns over computer systems not being able to recognize the "20" instead of the "19" in the date. People were worried their bank accounts would be wiped out and withdrew their savings, and I recall my mother in law insisting that, although she knew she was being silly, we fill the bathtub with water in case something happened to the fresh running water from the taps.
I watched Toronto as it counted down to Bryan Adams playing Summer of '69. Parliament Hill toned it down to a dude climbing Central Block (artistry) and then fireworks.
Remember how going into the new Millennium there was a sense of big change and optimism? It's been 20 years and I'm still waiting for it
Yeah that's true isn't it? But then 9/11 happened....................
its here now
There's been a lot of big changes. I dont know about the optimism though
Broke my leg in January 2000
The sound of the crowd screaming their hearts out as they countdown from ten, then the booming cheer once it becomes 2000... a beautiful moment.
What an electrifying moment that was!

I still remember the crowd was electric ringing in the new year screaming the countdown as the ball went to the 10 second zone

But it didn’t

Happy new century!!
It's been 20 years already! Wow
I was only 6 months old during the millennium celebration.
PBS didn't even know whether Parliament Hill was Toronto or Montreal, even though it's in Ottawa...
I watched Toronto as it counted down to Bryan Adams playing Summer of '69. Parliament Hill toned it down to a dude climbing Central Block (artistry) and then fireworks.

Booby Hill come back to the 6ix bobby
In hindsight it would have been a great prank to kill the power in Time Square just as the clock hit midnight. Really fucked with the people.
Rude
Seems like just yesterday......
Y2K.
Well forget about Y2K! The real crisis is this horrible camera quality! I'm glad I didn't grow up in the 90s
