I thought perhaps it was a plane taking off and punching through the clouds away from the observer plane. It looks as though it is tilting due to the relative speed of the two planes. the subject plane's com trail is clearly evident later. I was clearly wrong, defiantly a cloud whale - made me cry.

Thank you, that helps a million. I was thinking that this was a huge spear like object coming from the sea or that it was a creature, that big, rising up from the sea. After careful analysis, we have observed an object that is projecting black smoke or exhaust of some kind. This could be chemicals or simply jet trailing. However, there is not a close enough look to define the object/craft. The object is traveling at a high rate of speed, however , it also seems to be keeping up with the airplane. Therefore, we have decided that it could be another plane since there are at least two airports on that sea, between the travel path. Also, we cannot take away from the fact that the "Jet trail" moves with the tip of the traveling object. I am open to more suggestions.

And as well as it turning, the aircraft that the video is being taken from could also be adjusting its heading as it reaches waypoints. Atmospheric conditions can make jet exhaust do unusual things and look strange. And atmospheric conditions and changing perspectives can also help create illusion effects. I travel in the world ultra-long haul flights between North America and Asia and have seen this kind of sight many times. Nothing unusual to people who are frequent fliers. It's just the vertical fin at the end of the wingtip. They reduce spillover or "induced drag". Note they are sitting directly over the wing. 😌 (There are UFOs, but hoaxers are de-legitimizing genuine phenomenon).

Since they were over the Aegean... my assumption is it's probably a Greek Air Force F-4 Phantom II (they still fly them) that has just passed below and slightly in front of the airliner, crossing from left to right , as it gains altitude above the cloud deck. When the Phantom's notoriously smoky contrail looks like a vertical "half disc," @00:18 our POV is looking at the F-4's 6 o'clock, slightly above. As he continues filming, the Phantom turns left and levels out to a similar cruise altitude and heading, a few miles off their starboard wing. Maybe the pilot was practicing an intercept. This is much more obvious in the unedited video online where his wife keeps going "Kerry, what is it? Kerry? Kerry what is that?" and the contrail is in focus for longer, as well showing the shots of the trail dissipating in the distance. Or, y'know, it's aliens.

It's an airplane and its contrails (exhaust). The plane is flying away, to their right, and slightly below them. At the end it also appears as if the other plane is changing direction and taking on a parallel path.

I actually do believe in UFO sightings, in general. This isn't a legit one though. The dark trail aft of the object perfectly conforms to the physics of a vapor trail behind a rocket in thin air. The apparent strange change in angle is simple parallax. As a pilot, I have seen such parallax countless times. This is an ordinary craft - either a rocket, or perhaps a military jet utilizing an afterburner.
Pilots around the world (either civilian, commercial, or military) have reported many unusual sightings beyond common parallax in the book by Leslie Kean, titled UFO, documents many testimonies and official reports from governments of Belgium (Wave), Chile, UK, Peru, Italy, France, ect... yet, USG less transparent after project Blue Book.

Looked too solid to be vapor. It's contours don't disperse at all like what you expect with vapor. Also in order to get parallax you need multiple cameras to get a supposed change in position. This film is from the same singular camera.

As to your point, I would only say that a camera moving very fast at a high angle (probably close to 90 degrees in this case) produces the same effect as many cameras spread over an equal distance, per unit of time. If you've ever see a plane flying toward or away from your plane some distance away, this effect becomes dizzying. Another plane will appear to have far more lateral motion than forward motion, and the different altitudes of separation from the ground make the ground appear to be passing underneath the plane slower than it should be, adding to a confusing visual effect.
Glad someone else sees it correctly. It is a contrail/exhaust trail of another aircraft or missile going away from our POV, and it appears to be moving due to our POV going perpendicular (left) to the trail. Fairly easy to view once you recognize what's happening.

You do realize that the "sudden change in direction" you are talking about is actually the camera is moving over the other plane and which makes it seem like the other plane is doing impossible moves. Children have that issue to when looking at a plane in a moving car on the interstate. They can't grasp the concept at the young age that both objects are moving which makes the plane they are watching appear to be moving sideways, more slowly or quicker than normal.
Adam S I hope you also realize that planes make turns in flight. It would definitely be more convincing if the video showed anything other than the object travelling in straight lines. Erratic movements would also be reflected with the contrail, which is also straight the whole time.
It never stands up, the viewing point from the camera changes.The first section of video is of it after they pass over it and the second is before they pass over it. It doesn't take a smart person to figure this out, just someone with logical thinking.

In Missouri I saw this in1981 in the ozarks on a dark night. It was very close and looked like a large air plane with no wings. It was very slow then shot off out of sight. It still haunts me

Thank you, that helps a million. I was thinking that this was a huge spear like object coming from the sea or that it was a creature, that big, rising up from the sea. After careful analysis, we have observed an object that is projecting black smoke or exhaust of some kind. This could be chemicals or simply jet trailing. However, there is not a close enough look to define the object/craft. The object is traveling at a high rate of speed, however , it also seems to be keeping up with the airplane. Therefore, we have decided that it could be another plane since there are at least two airports on that sea, between the travel path. Also, we cannot take away from the fact that the "Jet trail" moves with the tip of the traveling object. I am open to more suggestions.

And as well as it turning, the aircraft that the video is being taken from could also be adjusting its heading as it reaches waypoints. Atmospheric conditions can make jet exhaust do unusual things and look strange. And atmospheric conditions and changing perspectives can also help create illusion effects.
I travel in the world ultra-long haul flights between North America and Asia and have seen this kind of sight many times. Nothing unusual to people who are frequent fliers.

That's the contrail from another jet from behind as they pass it. The lighting is just right so that it appears dark. You can see it more clearly when it's really long.

Since they were over the Aegean... my assumption is it's probably a Greek Air Force F-4 Phantom II (they still fly them) that has just passed below and slightly in front of the airliner, crossing from left to right , as it gains altitude above the cloud deck. When the Phantom's notoriously smoky contrail looks like a vertical "half disc," @00:18 our POV is looking at the F-4's 6 o'clock, slightly above. As he continues filming, the Phantom turns left and levels out to a similar cruise altitude and heading, a few miles off their starboard wing. Maybe the pilot was practicing an intercept. This is much more obvious in the unedited video online where his wife keeps going "Kerry, what is it? Kerry? Kerry what is that?" and the contrail is in focus for longer, as well showing the shots of the trail dissipating in the distance.

I actually do believe in UFO sightings, in general. This isn't a legit one though. The dark trail aft of the object perfectly conforms to the physics of a vapor trail behind a rocket in thin air. The apparent strange change in angle is simple parallax. As a pilot, I have seen such parallax countless times. This is an ordinary craft - either a rocket, or perhaps a military jet utilizing an afterburner.
Pilots around the world (either civilian, commercial, or military) have reported many unusual sightings beyond common parallax in the book by Leslie Kean, titled UFO, documents many testimonies and official reports from governments of Belgium (Wave), Chile, UK, Peru, Italy, France, ect... yet, USG less transparent after project Blue Book.
I don’t know enough to comment but I do have questions for you please. The object appears to be moving so slowly, how would a rocket do that? What I could see of what appears to be a ship was not shaped like a rocket. Thanks.
Looked too solid to be vapor. It's contours don't disperse at all like what you expect with vapor. Also in order to get parallax you need multiple cameras to get a supposed change in position. This film is from the same singular camera.

As to your point, I would only say that a camera moving very fast at a high angle (probably close to 90 degrees in this case) produces the same effect as many cameras spread over an equal distance, per unit of time. If you've ever see a plane flying toward or away from your plane some distance away, this effect becomes dizzying. Another plane will appear to have far more lateral motion than forward motion, and the different altitudes of separation from the ground make the ground appear to be passing underneath the plane slower than it should be, adding to a confusing visual effect.
Glad someone else sees it correctly. It is a contrail/exhaust trail of another aircraft or missile going away from our POV, and it appears to be moving due to our POV going perpendicular (left) to the trail. Fairly easy to view once you recognize what's happening.

You do realize that the "sudden change in direction" you are talking about is actually the camera is moving over the other plane and which makes it seem like the other plane is doing impossible moves. Children have that issue to when looking at a plane in a moving car on the interstate. They can't grasp the concept at the young age that both objects are moving which makes the plane they are watching appear to be moving sideways, more slowly or quicker than normal.
Adam S I hope you also realize that planes make turns in flight. It would definitely be more convincing if the video showed anything other than the object travelling in straight lines. Erratic movements would also be reflected with the contrail, which is also straight the whole time.
It never stands up, the viewing point from the camera changes.The first section of video is of it after they pass over it and the second is before they pass over it. It doesn't take a smart person to figure this out, just someone with logical thinking.
