Love the humor and lightheartedness in recent videos! Seems like you guys have fun and are obviously passionate as hell about food.
Lmao at the newspaper adverts under the corndogs 00:51
Chef steps is a quality brand! People who comments negative simply they never try yet. As simple as that.
loving these videos where grant talks to us instead of just taping the food
can you please let Grant know that he looks beautiful in all his videos.
Didnt you write that in the comment section of the last video?
Incidentally yes he does.
Poo brain ill keep writing until they reply to confirm that Grant knows that.
jayy den Don't worry, we tease him about his fervent fans all the time!
gaylord
This is fantastic. Thank you for showing this. we added a homemade spicy ketchup to our menu and no matter how many times I try the recipe my boss gives me, it always comes out as a watery tomato sauce with spice. Its pretty awful and has a ton of ingredients and a long cook time. This should be much simpler and i can season it how i need to easily.
The sound the bottle makes, gets me excited.
The ending had me rolling LMFAO
As far as relaying information, this format of video is good, but I kind of prefer the "show, don't tell" method you guys use in most of your other videos. Thats what I think separates chefsteps from others. Then again, I never actually cook anything but I've always found this channel to be pretty relaxing haha
Safe to assume it'll last in the fridge just as long as store-bought?
Any variation in the spices you can use?
how long does it last
I hope you guys upload videos more often because they're amazing. Thanks for all those tips
The end really brought the video together.
Are the cooking properties of corn syrup and glucose syrup the same? Like can I just use corn syrup?
is there something i can use as an alternative to glucose? can't seem to find it in stores. if its used for texture, could it be replaced by another syrupy sweetener? eg honey/syrup?
Can you put this in a whipping siphon?
Love the ending.
i like it sold up until 1:00.
now i'm totally sold!
Hahaha loved the glucose comment! It isn't poison for sure. You guys are cool, I'll love to visit your kitchen some time in the future.
Great looking homemade ketchup! Yum!
Love chef steps comin to visit ya in the summer
can you please tell grant if he could show how to make the tomato paste he used in the beginning of this video?
Grant.... You're perfection ❤️
i love the dirty back pages from theSTRANGER lol! not gonna lie I've been watching your guys for about three weeks now(st8). my favorite you tube channel! then when i heard in a video you guys were from Seattle, i was over joyed!
I like your style chef
Well done
Could you guys do a video explaining what exactly glucose is?
That's it? I'm so giving it a try!!! Thanks
ChefSteps Again, you peeps produced a great video. This has to be one of the best recipes I've seen for homemade ketchup. Would subbing glucose for agave nectar and the xanthan gum for ground flax or chia seeds be a total waste of time?
*reduced agave nectar
@@Aizuboy Agave is an inverted sugar so it would be much sweeter then the glucose so no. You could use corn syrup tho
ChefSteps corn dogs video incoming?
LOLZ. sous vide corn dogs !!!!!!
why didn't chef steps sous vide the ketchup ? something isn't right here.
That joke is old
Joshua Ambresh
He even used it twice this video..
Jonas Rosenven why don't you go and sous vide yourself.
What was the quantity of ketchup you just made ?
That ending though. 😂👌🏼
In which kind of stores could I find glucose or xantan gum?
Mikkan Dois In almost every baking store, just ask someone working there.
i bought mine on ebay for a few bucks
Can I use honey or syrup instead of glucose?
I actually used honey, it was great and thick as it should be.
simplest video i have ever seen on this channel..could u please be kind enough to tell us how did u make the tomato paste??regular/hybrid tomato??with seeds/seedless??with skin/without skin??first blanched/raw just out of fridge..please i want to try at least 1 recipe from you guys and this could be it..answer please..
sagarika panda www.foodservicedirect.com/productimages/OT342780S.jpg
Tijgerhuis thats very kind of u..i was wondering if i could use fresh tomatoes..
- recipe for Corn Dogs please? (British dude here). Thanks!
Great !!!!
Any "barbeque" receipes?
systemfailure101 This, but with molasses instead of glucose and liquid smoke.
And a little bit of honey! Don't forget the honey.
thanks both of you.
Ketchup? Catsup? Ketchup? Catsup?
hahaha
More videos please!
0.8g of cloves is about how many cloves? I don't have a good scale to measue small amounts like that.
I would say a little bit less than 1g
Charles Hebert your contributions are very helpful. thank you very much...
CoasterNinja I just went to the kitchen and measured it. It is 1/4 tsp.
Izrun Cool. Thanks dude. Looking forward to trying out this recipe.
CoasterNinja I wonder about their recipes and how specific they get:- Did they make this with 0.7g of cloves, taste it and say "That's terrible."
- Then they made it with 0.9g of cloves and said "Ugh! Still not right."
- Then they tried 0.8g and decided "Money! That's it right there."
I just wonder how they get on such a specific number each time. Not 1g. Not 0.5g, but 0.8g.
where are you guys ? we missed you
Can you find glucose in a regular grocery store? If not where would i acquire some at?
Look in the baking aisles of grocery stores. It will be there.
Online?
Amazon!
how long can it last before it spoils?
Tegan Lov vinegar and all the sugar and salt are preservatives. will last a long time, and doesn't need to be chilled, room temperature is fine
So I don't have to put ketchup in the fridge?!
I have been putting ketchup in the fridge for a beary long time!
it isn't necessary for ketchup, it's just habit for most people.
mju34 Tomato juice and tomato paste are preserving agents as well.
Tegan Lov,
tomato paste and tomato puree similar? or totally different? =.=
brianpown Totally different. Tomato pureed is blended caned tomato for making pasta sauce. Tomato paste is concentrated tomato ('_
ok thanks!
I had to favorite the video because of the ending
ChefSteps No controversy intended, but what's the difference between bottled ketchup and homemade ketchup if the ingreidents are basically the same?
The bottle, maybe...
Preservatives
It would be nice if there was a link to odd ingredients
whats the difference between Ketchup and tomato sauce?
Tomato sauce is basically pureed tomatoes. The tomato paste is concentrated sauce, which is why he adds some water to thin it out. He then adds the glucose for body/texture/some sweetness.
Ketchup is the sauce that's created by adding all the ingredients and spices.
Ketchup IS a tomato sauce. So is marinara. There are many tomato sauces; what differentiates them is what goes into them, how they are prepared (cooked or not, etc.), and what the intended use is. The French sauce tomat, one of the five mother sauces, is a cooked tomato sauce; here's one version: culinaryarts.about.com/od/sauces/r/classictomato.htm
I live by the ketchup. I die by the ketchup.
Isn't glucose sugar?
mrtodd3620 basically
Yes, it's one of the sugars; you can tell by the -ose ending. Table sugar is sucrose, fruit sugar is fructose, malt sugar is maltose, etc. Glucose is also known as grape sugar (and, medically, as blood sugar), and in the USA it is most-commonly made from corn starch. It's about 75% as sweet as table sugar.
Crush on Grant.
Grant 😍❤️
The end was really funny!!!! Fart fart fart
I dislike the ketchup farts. Go Grant!
The end... Haha
Woo!
Very easy, no need for me to go to the store.
hahahaha "no glucose isn't poison"
My recipe is awesome. But I will take a dozen corn dogs, please.
Who do these guys cook for? They can't use all that kitchen just for RUclips videos. Someone, enlighten me please
ma x Visit our site here: www.chefsteps.com/
I'm pretty sure they do tastings and showcase techniques for a price at their location.
Thanks, guy. Huge fan
I've heard it's all natural ingredients
It's raw
and i dont like you pouring ketchup on newspaper where the cmyk color on the surface of the paper also gets in to ketchup
giridhar bairy Yes, but it's pictures of gay hot guys so it must be fabulous :P.
1:04
wrong you forgot to cook it 10 mins
And never serve it anywhere near news paper the slightest exposure ruins the entire experience.
of course, what was I thinking. I thought this was going to be a "from scratch" ketchup video. *sigh* why am i even subscribed, this is more like "lazy home cook, untrained, steps"
shakaama And how would you define making it 'from scratch'? Was it because they used pre-made tomato paste? or were you looking how to distill vinegar?
Always you guys complaining it's not 'from scratch' or 'natural' enough. jeez.
shakaama you can search youtube how to make your own tomato paste and distill your own vinegar if you want it more "from scratch"
А жрать с газеты, - это для хипсторов?
Super hot chef. Woof.
Ah, common, this is the lazy version. Show us how to make it from fresh tomatoes.
Glucose? You mean High Fructose Corn Syrup?
There's trolls under this bridge!
ChefSteps what's the name of the guy of the video? Does he has Instagram? He is SOOOO pretty
Lucas Machado That's Grant Crilly. He's co-founder of ChefSteps. He shows up a lot on our Instagram: instagram.com/chefsteps/
Maybe stick to cooking and leave out the opinion of the toxicity of sugar.
Why do hipsters always overcomplicate things? Does he expect us to keep xanthan gum, glucose, and MSG readily available in our pantries?
