Don’t interrupt Lisa. She is too important to the Shapeoko community. Wait to film when she is finished. Thanks again Lisa, I received my Bitrunner last week!
I can’t wait for this to be back in stock… I keep having problems, with tool changes. I forget to turn it off when it does the bit setter calibration, and then I forget to turn it back on when that’s done. This will be a HUGE help. This will pay for itself quickly (less broken bits).
Just got the standard version the other day and it works perfectly! I've got the router & a shop vac plugged in with no issues. It's really cool that they turn on automatically when it's time to cut. I use the vacuum shutting off as a cue to go back into the garage for a tool change. lol. Some minor feedback: It would be nice if the grounding cable was a few feet longer as it determined where I had to mount the bitrunner after running the cable through the cable tracks. It would also be nice for the spindle speed to pop up in Carbide Motion at some point. I used the ole tape and super glue trick to mount the bitrunner and control pendant to the side of my workbench, screw holes would have been cool too, but I guess not everyone would use them. That's it! Happy to get this final upgrade for my Shapeoko Pro! Along with the bitzero and bitsetter, I think I've maxed this puppy out! :p
I second that request for a longer grounding cable. I have a XXL and the cable length is just to the end of the drag chains, so I had to extend it. Not a big deal, but extending the grounding cable +1m would be super helpful.
Hi Jeff. It’s no different than on any one of our machines. You can set it manually or use our BitZero if you choose to incorporate that to your workflow. My.Carbide3D.Com has 5+ hours of video training covering all manner of topics. Units, broken down into lectures, are there for you to watch whether you own a machine or not.
ok just got mine, so power on and it's software controlled and power off no power to spindle . some way to deactivate the bitrunner would be nice so I don't have to unplug my vacuum when I do some cleaning up
The led colors on this look so confusing. On is yellow? This should be an industrial twist estop, or at least have more intuitive colors, or even an oled display that says the spindle is on or off. Also...imo the hardware just looks cheap. Pro version needs a tool changer too!
The 'on' color is actually red (just received the one I ordered). Not sure if it is a pre-production version in the video or just a matter of the video recording.
Yes, as long as you have the latest v2.4 board. If you have Shapeoko 3 with a V2.3 board and below (Shapeoko 3 machines purchased before Black Friday 2019), you will need to add the Carbide Motion PCB with an enclosure, which includes a new circuit board with the BitRunner connector installed.
@@WinstonMakes Correct me if I'm wrong. With the BitRunner original, C3D was providing the missing connector for the 2.4d PCB as a DIY. With the V2 no connector. I have to get the new PCB with the connector on it. I did order and received the new PCB 2.4f w/o enclosure and replace my old PCB with the new one. I have the PCB in a bigger enclosure hence why I do not want the one that include the enclosure. Great job C3D
Hate to put a downer on this but doesn't a socket, close by, with a switch do the same thing? I'm in the UK, shipping and import tax makes these add-ons fairly expensive here. I'm struggling to see real benefit for cost as you always press the button and disconnect the router manually anyway, if you value your fingers! Surely any wise person already has emergency stop button set-up for quick kills. I don't know, maybe I've missed the point?
I find it convenient for running a long job. I can start it, and go work on something else. When the spindle shuts off, I'll know that either it's ready for a tool change, or the job is finished.
It may not be for you. Depending on one’s setup/workflow, it may be a huge time saver. I’ve done +300 piece runs. Having this and the bit setter would have saved a chunk of time.

@chriswick21 what did you use to connect your dust collector/shop vac to the bitrunner? Just an outlet splitter plugged into the female end?
For us outside the US: does it mean to cut off the US plugs and mount our own ones? I don't see that you have an international version available?
If you do happen to have an EMI disconnect does the Router motor still stay powered or does it shut off?
Will carbide make a larger table like the x-carve has done ?
I’m a little lost. I upgraded to the VFD spindle and where you say to plug the bit runner into is where vfd is
@rovd89 you do not use BitRunner with the VFD.
is it possible to use a splitter so I can connect the router and shop vac at the same time?
What is the different between bitrunner v1 and bitrunner v2?
So I do have the shapeoko 3 I assume since the bit zero had a spot to plug and play this would be the same.
Damn. I purchased a BitRunner just before this was announced. I haven’t even unpacked it yet. 😢
Me too!
So... It has the exact same functionality as the original.
Will this work on programs posted from Fusion 360?
What table are you using for the laptop?
I have a question I did not see any place where you set your xyz cna you show how this is done on the 5 4x4 thanks Jeff Peters

when I turn the bitrunner off can I still run the spindle for some manual work? or do I have to unplug and use a regular outlet?

If you go into mdi and type /m3 or /m4 those should be router on and off commands. Mine I can't seem to get to turn on
Should the router be connected to a separate outlet than the controller if you are using the bit runner?
Your router must be plugged into the Bit Runner. The Bitrunner and Shapeoko can be plugged into the same power strip.
My Bit Runner shows up red instead of yellow. Is this indicating a problem?
If your BitRunner is not functioning properly, send a picture to Support@Carbide3D.com

Is it at all compatible with non-carbide CNCs?
No, this plugs into a connector that's specific to the Carbide Motion controller on our machines.
Does this work with a third party router like the Makita?
Yes it does.
Is it compatible with Shapeoko 3 XXL?

Isnt pressing the pendant button basically the same as flipping the switch on the router to turn the spindle off? if I don't see the need

@@smcgeorge007 I see, I suppose it does shave off some time. Thanks for the reply.
Does that work with 220V?
Yes it does Benoit.
But am I going to remember it is even there?
No.........no you are not.
