G-Dragon is King 👑
All k-pop lovers knew it
G-Dragon is my first K-pop bias, and I was lucky enough to experience his music as he release them. G-Dragon's lyrical theme always go back to fame, emptiness and loneliness. Big Bang is also known for popularizing this style of upbeat music paired with sad lyrics, mostly from G-Dragon's direction. I interpret it as the beat being a facade, and what the public takes on face-value. In this song he talks about how he looks crude and tough, but inside he is just scared that he is alone, and no one would really understand him. This is one of my favourite G-Dragon song. My favourite line in this song, which is oddly not in the translation is "I will spit on the sky, and in the end, that spit lands in my eye" (which talks about his self-destructive behaviour).
G-Dragon, if you knew, was a child prodigy and has been in the music industry since he was six years old. I think this fact adds to the understanding of his music and his relationship with his fame. Another song of his that I love is "A Boy", which was in his first solo album, and it is a song reminding him why he is still doing this, being famous makes him feel isolated, and he reminds himself of that boy who dreamed of this, who believed in this music. It ends with a repetitive "Come back to me now" coaxing his dream to come back to him, and I just love this song. Check it out if you can. It's not the best looking MV, but the soul of that song is ageless.
On the other spectrum, in his most recent solo album, "Divina Comedia" is possibly the strongest thematically. It does not have an MV, but if you can find it, definitely listen to it. This song talks about his cynicism towards success and fame. He used the line "if I don't see you, good afternoon, good evening and good night" and referred to the Truman Show because that's how he feel his life is--observed and watched by the public and sometimes controlled. He once dated a Japanese model, and his fans attacked her online, and one of them broke into his private IG account and publicized a private video that he dedicated to her. He also has stalkers who break into his house, his garage and who stalks his family.
Sorry for this wall of text. I just appreciate you looking into him. I hope you get a chance to look into more G-Dragon, like the fans earlier to me said, you can't go wrong with G-Dragon. Even his collaborations are pretty good. I think with GD though, limiting yourself to available MV's is very... limiting. lol
WHY THEY'RE CALLED KINGS 1. They're still running in the KPOP industry for 14 years and now. So many scandals yet they're still standing on the stage. Performing. Hitting #1s on korean music streams without promotion or music videos published. 2. They're one of the KPOP groups who go international first. They spread the Hallyu wave all over the world. It's even impressive because internet is not really popular before, but that didn't stop them for being a star. Times, Grammy's, KCA, MTV, Billboards, etc. 3. BIGBANG helped introduce EDM (Electronic Dance Music) and Rap. Before, it was mainly R&B, Ballad, and Pop. 4. They broke the stereotypes. Before BIGBANG, every idols in a boy group were seen as robotic, flower/ boy style and with synchronized dancing and singing. 5. Idols were never considered as artists before with lyricism and production. They even influenced kpop artists of today to compose their own. 6. They're the celebrity of celebrities. Most people adore and are a fan of them. KPOP groups, actors, politicians etc. Mostly from KPOP industry. They're inspired and influenced by them. 7. The SONGS. BIGBANG doesn't create just create catchy songs, Some songs, the lyricism is so magnificent. They're meaningful and filled with emotions you want to feel. 8. Their stage presence. No one can beat their stage presence. The stage is powerful once they're performing. Every performance are eye catching. No lipsync reguired. All songs live.
9. BIGBANG saved YG Entertainment. YG Entertainment before BIGBANG is just a small company. But BIGBANG were struggling for food to eat because they don't have enough money and GDragon composes a song every night. But all the hardships are worth it. 10. Most fans don't idolized them because of looks, just pure talent. They were even called the "ugliest KPOP boy group" back in the days they were debuted. But people don't care for it, because the talent wins. 11. They're the first to use lightstick. Well before it was called "glowstick". Before it was just balloons and color to identify kpop groups. 12. They popularized EPs or Mini Albums. It started when they drop their album "Always" and with the hit song "Lies". That's why they're unbeatable. We can say, they're so many KPOP groups who are popular these days, but BIGBANG are untouchable. No one can imitate or copy beside themselves. Truly the legends of KPOP. They really deserved it.p

TOP was chubby, Dae was called ugly village boy for his dark skin and untouched by surgeon small eyes .. like he was so countrified .. in america they call that type hillbilly or red necks ..
But, only Dae has sold molds of his nose and lips in Japan(to make ice cubes, jelly, kimbab things shaped to his nose or lips .. slap back to people called him ugly, eh?)
With workouts and maturing, they look more handsome tho I think GD had V jawline made ... but originlly he's still cute, handsone and savagely beautiful..
One of my all time favorite songs is his song SUPERSTAR which discusses a lot of those same themes. Having the world and still feeling completely alone in it.

G-dragon practically has a different style for every comeback tho. He's always trying new things. Even his "One of a Kind" album is very different from his "Coup D'etat" album, even though he released them barely a year apart from each other.
Most of his songs were written with a catchy party melody but if you dig in ang understand it's lyrics it mirrored everyone's experience, losses, despair sadness in life. It's meaningful lyrics was the reason why I personally love BIGBANG so much for almost a decade now (also 2ne1 and some YG artists. ).

As far as make-up...all celebrities wear makeup; Kpop or Western artists. And there are trends as with everything so at the time, heavy eyeliner was popular. Kpop is probably more open about the fact that they do makeup but really it's just part of the fashion.
