- Bigtime is Officially turning 1 year old today! To celebrate we go over some of the lessons we've learned after being on our own for a year. And along the way we go over every car we worked on last year...... except the jeep.

Thank you guys so much for all the love and support you've shown us over the last year. This channel wouldn't be a thing if it weren't for all of your support. We love you ❤
Nonono, WE love YOU.
you should buy my CTSV for your next project video 👀
I live in North Canton Jobe. As you know, Ohio has its pros (there really never any extreme weather) but it definitely has its cons. And probably more of them lol.
Come back to Ohio and let me work for you guys lol. Theres a few shops for sale around the area you used to live in actually.
I probably wouldn’t wanna come back here in all honesty though. Its not BAD. its just not great. Its a meh state.
Glad you guys are doing well. Keep it up.
We need more than 500. Seriously

MotoGP doc was one of the best things any of the auto channels has done. The level of effort and access was amazing
what are your favorite auto channels? trying to branch out with some stuff other than cleetus and 1320
Really. MotoGP should be promoting it on their channels.
@@stevestewart-pw7vb
tom’s refurb and Matt Spears are 2 of my favorite channels rn where they actually show the build processs
for real, I wasn't a fan before and have been following since watching this doc
@@NerdblurbSteve It got 2.1 mil views. Seems to be doing fine on its own.
I love that Big Time incorporates motorcycles and trucks into the content, rather than just cars.
It's one of my favorite parts tbh. I love almost all things automotive, and I can find a little bit of everything here.
The MotoGP episode was the best video in the channel, in my opinion
@@Jjjmmyyagreed. I never liked MotoGP, but find myself thinking about their journey now
@@Jjjmmyy BY far!

The thing car youtuber's get wrong about their audience is that they only want to watch car content, or just bikes, etc. But in reality, most of us just enjoy watching someone modify or fix anything with an engine. Happy 1st Bday! Keep it up!
So true. When we getting some boat content?
Honestly I love the mechanical side but I've lately been so engrossed during welding segments on my favourite channels
True I think Donut started understanding that with the go cart build which was super fun to watch
Oh totally!! my next one on the feed might be a guitar repair by Twoodfrd or Not a luthier, maybe some cycling content from Klein Concepts or even some cooking content!! That's the beauty of the platform, back in the day I had to go to our little town library to find not so many books about what actually interested me and be sad all the time. Now we have the luxury to watch all of that stuff basically for free!!
Go Big Time guys! You're crushing it!!
Pimped out zero turn lawnmower, Hayabusa swapped Vespa...
Working out of a home garage is an iconic set piece. It really keeps the content grounded and attainable. A shop space would be amazing, but you gotta keep that place cluttered and lived in.
I stopped watching TJ hunt because of that. It just gets to be like “yeah let me mod my car with my entire auto garage and paid staff instead of on the floor of a garage like a normal person”
Totally agree. It feels totally relatable. The channels with the whole ‘garage full of cars’ setup is starting to feel played out and less impressive.
@@berengerchristy6256 tj hunt??? lmao......
havent even peeped his channel is 10 years, dudes a nobody, as u said, just pays people to work on his cars. its cringe
+1 stopped watching LZ/TJ etc for this reason
yeah i get ur point, but really, what are car guys meant to do when they own 10 plus cars all needing a bit of love? You almost have to own or share some sort of workshop. Otherwise you would have to keep selling all your finished or unfinished projects whenever you need something new for the channel.
24:13 the stress is rarely talked about, and it’s a different kind of stress, far more than one would normally face at a normal job. Thanks for doing this guys, and keep on keeping on!
yea, cause at normal jobs giant billion dollar companies give you anything you want for selling out to them too! so stress poor youtubers if only we could do something for them out here in the MF TRENCHES just for us wow so commendable.
the fact the 5.0 broke down while filming this is exactly why your channel is one of the best. you guys just take everything in stride and make the best of it. your audience learns, laughs and just feels like we are part of the friend group while watching your videos. keep it up!
Okay, but can we just give a moment for the editor, the rotoscoping, the 3D text tracking, no bouncing, solid masking and positioning. That intro transition! I see you editor! I see you!
Yeah that intro was spoiicy
👏👏
White text on white background!😱
You boys have done so much in just a year. Proud of ya! ❤️
RE stress and vertigo: I dealt with exactly this due to stress. It took me forever to realize that and in fact, it wasn't until I figured out how to put my personal health ahead of what I thought I needed to be for others that it turned around. I suffered for a couple years with Vertigo, Nausea, stomach issues, etc seemingly all out of nowhere and hitting hard in the span of a couple years. I was already going to talk therapy to help cope with my struggling marriage, and then the pandemic hit. It was the kick in the ass I needed to flip my perspective a little. It also gave me down time I needed to investigate and plan. I started getting my career back on track and anyone (even my wife) who got in the way actively, I realized I had to move away from. I got divorced, got a job in my old field of study, started climbing out of the rut. I'm now happier than literally ever before, no vertigo, no stomach issues, generally good health. STRESS KILLS. I'm so glad you were able to find some repreave from the stress. I'll always be supportive of humans trying to get out the rat race, even if its just mentally. Love your work you guys. Keep it up!
22:57 “Jack of all trades, master of none…” “Often better than a master of one.” That last part gets lost a lot but your multifaceted skill set is worth its weight in gold. Keep learning, keep growing, keep living.
Thank you for spreading this! Not many people know it
Millwrights in a nutshell. It’ll get built, it’ll work.
This was a role at one of the companies i worked for. It was an interesting job
16:08 "Don't Sell Out Like a Biatch"(like Donut Media) is slightly better advice. Your quote is great advice too.
16:08 "Don't sell out like a B$&@h"(Donut Media) is the best advice and quote from the video but yours was good too.
Well, 5 hours after the video dropped, and the wrenches are sold out, so here's some for the tip jar. Thank you for taking risks, and thank you and your whole team for sharing your adventure with us!
If your looking to rent a space I'd recommend renting out some space at DDE ,since they have too much space and nothing to do with it . They also have the bun yard and it would be an awesome combination of creators helping each other out

I’m really glad you guys are friends with Marty and Moog. Not that it matters at all, but it’s cool to know that the guys that helped get me so interested in cars are the ones that mentored you through this process. Legends
Diverse mechanical subjects is what keeps me interested. Exactly what you are doing. Trucks, cars, bikes, misc things
It’s already been a year… happy birthday BigTime!
Not technically the first vid dropped less than a year ago
This level of honesty, integrity and transparency is insane for an automotive youtube channel, especially one at this level of subscribers. Great work Zach and Jobe, ya'll are some good ones.
I think is Zack Jobe and Jeremiah broski.
@@robleavold84 nah dude it's Jeremiah and Burton
@@JayPkneeI thought it was Jeremiah Springfield and Zack Ariah.
The home stuff is tight and not alotta space but alot of us dont have it. I love seeing yall get it done the exact same way we do. Just floor jacks and dirty backs
I work in film production, so it hits close to home when you talk about the business side of a creative project. As I imagine is what happened to Donut, it is a constant struggle to make new breakthrough content while also remaining profitable. 95% of the projects I work in are on a very tight budget and reusing as many resources and processes as possible, only change is the content’s topic. They rely heavily on the script and acting to get any sort of relevance, otherwise they are just fillers to make sure the company keeps profiting from ad sales, sponsorships, it’s rare that a movie pays itself just with ticket sales. (It’s a non US market).
It’s not bad content if it has the purpose to keep you afloat, find a model you can mass produce with minimal budget while still keeping an acceptable level of audience engagement, then once in a while fund a crazy project that you know is gonna be expensive, but also show the people (and sponsors) what you’re capable of!
The last point you made! Stress. Guys I have been a truck driver over 15 years. Last year after seeing you move out from donuts shadow and , somewhat, protection. I bought a semi and started out leasing on and when I say stress. I never knew it could make you wanna throw up and poop and be tired but unable to sleep. It looks good on paper but in the conversion rate to life lived I sometimes wonder if it’s worth it. You guys driving forward gives me the drive to keep going. Thank you for this truthful insight.
You got it bro! Your loving alot of people's dreams... Everything isn't supposed to be easy and come to you fast an be super successful right out the gate! Dont forget baby steps an be grateful of the little things that often get over looked... It might be hard but you got this bro! You done the hard part already!!
As a long time MCM viewer, it was no surprise that when you appeared on their channel that it would have you guys question your place on RUclips and what they do compared to your spots at Donut.
The reason Marty and Moog keep us car peeps with them is because they stay on board with their own individuality and work on projects that they're passionate about, and this video shows you guys are doing the same. Don't lose track of that!
I've learned 75% or more of my confidence to work on cars by watching MCM, not because I work on the sane cars, but because I watch them regularly and then as I go dig into my cars there's residual knowledge because they explain things well and sometimes they film their 'disrespected nose' (unedited) videos and show us all of the nitty gritty.
Keep it real boys. We'll keep watching
As far as mentors go, can't think of any better!
Right on, well said.
If I were to donate one of the 84-89 Toyota vans in the video at 10:49 you can see 1 in the background would you guys do a build series on one? I own 6 of them and I’m not sure if I’ll ever be able to afford to build one like I want to due to time, money, and parts scarcity. I would love to see one built however and if it is possible would donate one for the cause.
Those old school Toyota vans are AWESOME!!
THIS WOULD BE SICK
This!
Hope they read this
Why would you buy 6 if you cant afford to finish one? Legit question, just trying to understand
I just finished my miata kart this year, you two were start of the inspiration for me to do it. Thanks and keep shifting gears!
big ups keep it goin boys
BigTimeBud is one of my favorite car builds I've ever watched on RUclips. It's so unique and just dope in general. The BigTime Livery and being along for the learning process was so cool to watch. Cheers to 1 year yall and to many years to come.
You should also check out Deboss Garage, he does lots of cool heavy machinery. He built his own kenworth. And now he is making compound turbo Fargo, with some really cool tech in old truck!
That sounds dope ill have to check him out. Gearheads really are spoiled for choice on RUclips lol I love it @@ifgezroxy

i feel like it was just last month i seen the first video explaining how you guys were leaving donut and what not. Glad to see that you're thriving and getting to just succeed. Even though I don't get a chance to see your videos often from my own life events. I'm glad to see how far you've gotten and glad to see it's all coming together. Wish you many more years of success
Bigtime is so amazing. Seeing how Private Equity Firms buying these channels, you can clearly see how different from a channel that is full of energy and creativity to a souless channel with hosts you dont even know and a channel that just dumps repetitive content.
Keep up the good work, may success guide you guys forward!
The group of hospitals that I go to just got bought by private equity. Looking to go new group.
In all honesty, there are up sides to Recurrent Ventures buying Donut.
For one, they’re proving car RUclips channels are profitable - something that has failed over and over and over with Television channels. This is awesome because it leads to more gear head channels, both corporate funded and small business loan supported.
Second; we are getting way more content. Yea, a lot of it sucks, but that’s because they can afford to make mistakes.
Am I glad Donut was bought out and entered an age of creative bankruptcy? No. But I do think they’re starting to turn it around and figure it out - and if/when the creative directors ideas also align with what’s profitable, we win.
Just take a look at the film industry; it works the same way. Some of the best films are indie productions. Most indie productions suck, and no one ever sees them. Studio funding can help transcend writers and directors visions to the next level, to weekend blockbusters. But it can also be a disgusting abomination of a money making machine, like Marvel. There is a balance between profit and creativity, and those are usually your favorite movies.
Donut was bought by a media company, not an equity firm.
@@joealex65 potato, potAto still. They sucked the life out of donut and had them making listing videos
Get with John and fix that mini truck!
Love you guys! The two favorite hosts from donut grouping together. 10/10
The quality of the videos and the editing has honestly been my personal favorite. From the quality of video and audio to animations and music selection, this channel has been absolutely crushing it. Cheers to the first of many years of BigTime!
I will say, this past year of Big Time has been such a breath of fresh air in automotive RUclips for me. I know nothing about cars, but i do know the feeling of working on projects with your best friends and watching Jer and Jobe give me so much serotonin and a much better understanding of how to do almost anything on a car. Keep it up, keep doing everything you're doing because it's working, and cheers to more years of Big Time! Also that wrench, pretty nice 👌🏼
Dang the wrench sold out too fast for me to snag one lol.
On the one hand, that’s a big bummer.
On the other, I’m super happy for them that they have so much more support than they dared to hope for.
I saw the video came out today and thought I had a chance :(
Man I feel ya. Didn't see this till after work today.

@@Robsimm Same here. I clicked on the video 5 minutes after I got home from work and they were sold out.
10:00 now THIS is what NFTs was supposed to be.
Yeah we dont need youtubers getting money for an NFT app and making a crap energy drink instead
This was so humble, real, and enlightening. You guys are awesome!
I love turning your channel on while i wrench in my own car. Your personality is what has kept me around. I dont give a shit about motorcycles but the way those videos have gone i couldnt turn them off. Keep grinding and doing what the team does because the community is jere for you and we support you!
I'm a fan since day one of Big Time and I gotta say, when you say 'places we have no buisness to be', I can't fully agree with that, your motorcycle stuff is insanely interesting, your big truck was also a perfect addition, I see you more as a chill spot to talk about whatever topic you throw at us than a 'car channel' which imo is a much better place. as long as you have fun, we have fun! happy birthday BigTime!
As a MotoGP fan I loved your video about it and trying to get into it as an American.
It’s something I would love to see get bigger out here, so it’s awesome seeing anything talk about it.
17:36 shifter guts? I hardly know her!
Your fucking hilarious 🤣🤣🤣
Noooooo I was just about to comment this lmao
with a name like Joshua, u aint shifting any guts lmao prob get urs shifted by ur man
Gah, beat me to it! 😂
You are one of the reasons i started this channel, no skills at all but getting better with each video, love your content.
I truly appreciated the time and dedication y'all put into the MotoGP video. As a new "old" guy, I knew I never had what it took to be in MotoGp. My brain just can't process the speeds and the reflexes required. To see all the EXTRA stuff that would have been required.. Forget about it!
What I have learned watching RUclips over the years is when making videos we the viewers can tell if you are truly passionate about a project and that is all we are here for. You guys are funny when you don’t realize and informative while you do it. Keep finding things you like and tell us about it.
You guys starting Big Time was a BIG TIME motivator for me to start my own automotive channel. Seeing this today reminds me that my own one year is coming up and I can't believe how the time has flown. What an experience it's been. Really appreciate you putting this together for all the lil time YTers out there. Appreciate you always keeping it real, thanks guys.
16:10 We will all remember that
Simply my favorite channel on RUclips. Even the vlog style videos. If you guys are down to move next door to AZ I know a decent sized house with a 3100sqft shop with a single 9k 2 post lift, and the perfect space for all the bike. Shop has 3 swamp coolers too. Not too bad to work out of even in summer here
The most sincere closing I could picture in this journey!!! AMAZING CHANNEL AND CONTINUE GROUNDED!!!!!
Happy Birthday to the channel and wishes to many more years of following your passions!
8:23 waaatttttt. I really liked those vlogs ahahhahaha
Agreed, they were pretty good. I think it was the algorithm more than anything.
lmao same, guess the RUclips gods didn’t push it as hard as the other videos

@@brycebeckett6654I just got done doing the math too, insane amount

When I was in the Army I would sign hundreds of documents at a time, a real paper pushing warrior. If I made that kind of money based on signatures I'd be good to go!
@@brycebeckett6654 that's making a big assumption that there was actually profit margin to be had in these. Generally with a low run like that, it's bound to be skinny margins
happy birthday to the channel! my buddy just recently showed me you guys' channel and I'm already loving the content! used to watch donut all the time, it's cool that you guys are doing this. keep it up lov ya!
Thanks for this. Especially the analytics and sponsorship section. I’m rolling with a CPM around $25 (from Ohio) and have searched and searched for some means of understanding how we compare in the automotive arena. We’re not doing 1million views, but we are working with some great companies. I’d love to see you (tactfully) explain your branded content/sponsorships. Thanks.
13:14 MAN! I'm jus LOVINGGGGGG these shots so so much. Want a video of just the cars driving with this camera and angle.
The US version of Mighty Car Mods! Car enthusiasts like to see things getting pulled apart & built. And you guys are doing a bang up job of that ! 🎉 happy birthday 🥳 BigTime
20:06 all of the things that are upsides for being based out of LA are the same if you were based out of Las Vegas. Love the channel but 30% state tax is crazy
Not that it’s much better but 13.3% for any income over $1 million, not 30%
Minus the car culture and the better weather?
Hell nah dude Vegas sucks ass. I’ve lived here about 15 years. I would move to CA in a blink if I had the resources. It’s hot as balls here pretty much all year round except for maybe 2 measly months in the winter, and in the summer it gets up to 115-120 degrees; and you better have an industrial A/C in your garage if you want to work on cars otherwise you’ll have sweat dripping in places you never knew could sweat.
The car community here is microscopic and good luck finding honest, trustworthy, knowledgeable, and reliable guys to help you with your car in this city. Those kinds of guys are rare out here. I’ve met tons of lying, dirty scumbags out here who have tried to swindle me, and one guy completely mauled my car and had the audacity to demand $1500 for body work that he butchered (he’s out of business now). But I’ve met tons of great car guys in SoCal and NorCal.
The only good thing Vegas has is good food. Can’t even say prices are much better these days, everything keeps going up. That would be fine if Vegas had a nice community, but Vegas is notoriously community-agnostic and anti-local.
Job opportunities are garbage out here. For the average person, you’ll either be working at a casino, a cafe/restaurant, or at the Amazon fulfillment center. I’ve worked remote the past 6 years but the few on-site jobs I had in Vegas were the worst in my life. Awful managers, awful customers, awful wages.
Vegas is also not a fit place for families. There’s very few family activities in this city and we have one of the lowest education ranks in the country. The schools here are genuinely horrendous so you’ll really be setting your kid up for failure by sending them to a Clark County public school. Sure you can send them to a private school but then you’ll be paying tuition fees. It defeats the purpose of not paying state taxes - you’re just paying in other ways.
Nothing to do out here unless you genuinely enjoy drinking and gambling, the communities here are tiny, you risk dying to heat stroke, it’s harder to make friends because Vegas is a commuter city and everyone is very focused on themselves… It’s just not worth it. Sure you save a few Gs on state tax, but you lose SO MUCH in return.
Sure I didn’t pay state taxes but I was still broke. I still lived in a crappy apartment in the ghetto and got my car stolen. I still struggled to get groceries and gas. When my car had problems and I had to take the bus, it took an hour to go 5 miles. I was no better off by not paying state taxes.
@@jungeezy crazy how different our experiences and perspectives are. Been in Vegas 25 years. Lived in California for a few years. I’d never go back.
@@itschefff I don’t judge anyone who likes Vegas but it is 100% not for me… I’m glad you found your home bro. I’m still looking for mine
Thanks!

0:03 great match cut transition. Bravo 👏
I’m just glad you guys throw a bunch out there. Donut was becoming list/price/easy content and I barely saw actual projects anymore
The reason we all here instead of donut is because you guys taught and teach us new things. The current donut content is a bunch of less skilled dudes with a high budget for content. They sound like they figuring out the installation as the video goes along

@12:10 Rod bearings being replaced every 60k miles would be a recall from any other carmaker. It's absolutely unacceptable.
You can thank the EU for banning lead in bearings.
It happened right around the time of development and release of this engine
I’ve gone through Top Gear, Roadkill, The Grand Tour, Donut Media, and now I’m on Big Time. I wish you y’all the most success possible to continue your journey. Been a fan of you both since the beginning.
Congratulations fellas! Sending that out to everyone in front of, and behind the cameras. We can definitely see all the hard work and love you guys put into the videos and we appreciate it. Happy Birthday!! With you till the end of the line 👊😎
Late to the party, found Donut through Austin Evans as I'm a tattoo artist and IT guy, haha. Really liked you two in particular of the crew at Donut, and now you suddenly show up on my feed for your 1 Year as Big Time. Stoked to say the least. New to the scene at 43, never got to do this stuff as a young parent at 18, now having some fun with my old 2004 Corolla and you have been an inspiration and fantastic resource in the last little bit. I'm happy to support and excited to see where you go with your adventures and learning! Rock on, fellas.🤘

What you mean a year has passed !!!, i feel like you left Donut about 2-3 months ago lol.
Right !!!
it's been... a full year already? time flies
I subbed straight after watching the first ep you guys uploaded, the contents been great. The dynamic you guys share is on the same level as Marty and moog in my opinion, it’s some thing that isnt created over night. Can’t wait to see what you guys produce in the next year..
You guys were part of the inspiration that led me to leaving my full time in pursuit of the same exact goals. So far our small team is very happy that I made that decision. Keep up the great work!

@@eTiMaGo yeah, and iirc it's about 3x more than the ad revenue they would have gotten.
14:56 dear editor... I don't know if this is done ironically or not but can we not put white caption/words on the white cloudy sky... 3 times now you can only read half of it.
I got into this whole youtube car scene by watching you build a miata and I learned enough where I now with zero mechanical experience, is hunting down some old American Iron as a project. I would love to watch a 15-20 min video of you guys teach me stuff - simple stuff, even. Keep up the good word
Loved everything about this video - the content, the editing, the production, the background music - everything was *chef's kiss*.
Please keep being original, genuine and goofy and never change. We need good car/bike content that shows all sides of owning and working on them.
@19:40 DO NOT move to Ohio. Part of the reason Ohio is dying is the property tax and income tax. You'll spend more in taxes on a property than the mortgage. Ohio lost most of its manufacturing businesses that used to pay the taxes and to compensate they raised regular people's taxes and it's just driving people out of the state.
14:10 RUclips doesnt really like it when you show actual dollar amounts, i guess you could say keeping it in is another risk 😏
ALWAYS TALK ABOUT YOUR PAYCHECK, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE BOSS DOESNT WANT YOU TO
Having worked in RUclips behind the scenes, this is probably one of the most educational videos out there. Congrats on so much success!!
I am sure that I speak for many of your viewers when I say the hard work is greatly appreciated. I have really enjoyed everything yall have done. Keep it up! Yall are killin it!
Mental health is always important. Some guys don’t like to talk about it cause of pride but you guys talked about it in this episode. Great video and very down to earth and transparent! Also, crazy people hated the vlog style videos. I enjoyed them. Maybe not as your main focus but a great addition imo!
I’ve been a follower since day 1 and of both of you guys when y’all joined Donut. You guys make such fun content and make cars a bit more accessible for people who want to learn more. Can’t wait for the future of BigTime!

Love that we get variety, i got into bikes over the last 2 years, got mine within the last year now as of next month. Its so great to have more content from my favorite creators that gets into those interests too, gives me confidence, makes me motivated.
You lads were my favourite part of donut, glad to be watching you here for a year,

That MotoGP documentary was AWESOME! I hope y'all do more along those lines.
Congratulations on your first year! I'm looking forward to seeing more. 😀
