I got to use linux cuz I have a crappy PC, then I found this channel... so useful... this makes me use linux for my entire life!! Thanks guys keep up the good work love it❤
This is very cool. I found that on some older machines, they don't draw user background on the login page, but on my new Asus, it works perfectly. I love this theme!
Linux would go further if it put its best foot forward with looks/feels like this working out of the box. A lot of end users don't want to put in the time/effort to customize things, they just want it to work.
But Mint Developers want stability, not fancy UI. I think the community can make "theme pack" with shell script. If end users is too lazy to tweak DE themself, they can find a theme pack looks great and install them with one click.
i use gnome on fedora and have installed this theme(i am the one of those people where looks matters), it could be done by default but why..cause taste in look and feel vary from user to user..so more practical way is to leave users to choose what they want..man it is about 2 minutes of work on GNOME 44, and you are done..but stock ones looks decent enough, and for most people it is enough..in all linux distro you must spend some time configuring your system..not only looks. But if you want there are distros that come with preinstalled themes, like elementary os,deepin etc..but they have other issues..best way is to choose between debian based or fedora..when you are building OS how you gonna know what people will like in terms of UI, even if you do your best to some people that wont be enough..so that said better leave option to customize it yourself
Very beautiful theme! Thanks for the detailed video. The only theme I could not find is to change theme like you did in th login window. The Login Window Preferences have only the mint - y themes and there was not the choice of orchis theme. In the 'final result' part of the video you show a different login screen but you don't show how to make it like this later on the video. Could you please explain?
Step by step Terminal: sudo apt install git *ORCHIS THEME*: cd Downloads/ git clone github.com/vinceliuice/Orchis-theme.git cd Orchis-theme/ ls ./install.sh -t all close and open terminal *TELA CIRCLE ICON THEME*: cd Downloads/ git clone github.com/vinceliuice/Tela-circle-icon-theme.git ls cd Tela-circle-icon-theme/ ls ./install.sh -a close and open terminal *VIMIX CURSORS*: cd Downloads git clone github.com/vinceliuice/Vimix-cursors.git ls ./install.sh
Looks really nice, but why do almost all themes have those horrible dotted lines in the scroll areas? They serve no purpose whatsoever. You can remove them, but only if your filemanager supports the theme and sadly they do not. One exception is the Arc theme.
Thanks for the great tutorial! I just have one issue - my panel doesn't get grey color when in apps, instead it shows my wallpaper and I followed your tutorial completely. I tried playing with Transparent extension and panel settings but it doesn't help.
Nice work, I ended up adapting the conky from this video with the work you posted in a previous video about Gnome. But my conky is with a black background and not transparent, I haven't identified why yet. I did everything in Pop_OS Cosmic
Thank you for this! one question: when i switch to dark mode the system will revert to the old theme (mint-y). what would i need to do to setup the dark theme also?
Hi! Can you make a video about customizing the folder icons only? There are a lot of beautiful icons to choose from but most of it has ugly folder icons including the one you use here.
There's something I don't get, do you have to use the light or dark theme? Is there a possibility to turn to dark or light theme according to the time of the day?
Will this work with gnome pop os? I tried the orchis theme there, and i got a weird dashed line in the file manager when it was full of stuff, (like things extending beyond the window), and the line extended beyond the rounded corner, which made it really distracting. :( Otherwise liked the theme.
I just do all this with Linux mint cinnamon 21.1 "Vera", everything work more than fine, some configuration are not available but still working fine :D, except the Network, in wich part should I put my wi-fi name? because this is made for a ethernet connection. what wlan change on corky configuration?

@@michaelbmw1931 No, the tutorial is perfectly fine, Ricardo doesn't know what he's doing so he's blaming everything but himself. His response is typical of guys who think they know everything but in reality they don't.

Looks like I'll be spinning up Cinnamon again. Great video as always...thanks!
Truely elegant
Came here from that unixporn post. Great looking setup. Impressed!
I loved this customization, the tutorial was easy to follow 💖
Glad you liked it!!
You should increase the font size of the terminal for these tutorials, I can't see really (HD screen)
Very nice. Some of it looks forked from ZorinOS. Could be coincidence.

Where did you get cinnamon orchis fonts?
hey can u give kde a fresh and elegant look without latte dock ? or any softwares
wait where did you get cinnamon orchis fonts at 9:57 ? there is no link in description for that. only orchis theme is there.
I have the same question, do you get a solution?
Great job! Know what I'm doing tomorrow!!
Orchidea theme is already in the Cinnamon Spices selection without having to run in install script found on the internet.
It's not Orchidea. It's Orchis theme. It looks different.
You're right, I've tried before but it looks better with orchis theme
Like most themes in Cinnamon Spices, Orchidea is incomplete. It doesn't include a Controls theme.
Nice looks absolutely great.

Guess who installed cinnamon endeavour yesterday
Until now it looks great :D
Please do the same with budgie. So, window shuffler will enable tiling on mouse clicks too.
It’s great! Tried Ubuntu 18, 20, and even 21 but kept on facing package issues and installation faults.
Mint has been purring straight out of the box!

You convinced me to replace Zorin with Mint.

Yeah, I NEVER get to config conky to be as beautiful as the videos, screenshots etc, mine is always ugly as hell
I followed the video for plasma kde and had to modify conky too. I can only get the transparency to work if my background is black of very dark

Linux is still far from being a friendly os.. installing a theme should be a completely automatic job..
You can do this in KDE :)
Many themes can be installed super easy through the themes settings. It's not usually this complex
So, installing themes is what makes user friendly OS?
I don't see windows and Mac support theming yet people find it user friendly.
Great job man ty for share! +1 xD

How did you get your windows to have rounded bottom corners?! I want that, but Cinnamon isn't supposed to be capable of doing that
a bit late
he switch the filemanager from nemo (cinnamon default) to nautilus ans that one can handle the round button corners
you could create a distro
