I think I have discovered that I like listening to beauty-related content more than watching old-school content like hauls and PR unboxings. I'm much more of a conscious consumer now, and watching overconsumption feels icky in this economy.😊
❤ 15:09 omg I love 2016 makeup and still do , I started doing colorful makeup because I started watching you in 2019 and realized I don’t have to do just neutral makeup like I did for years and now I just have fun with it❤️
Love this community so much as a whole. So many of us have a similar story i think and it's nice to know we are in a space where we can share cur creativity without fear of judgement. I am 40 this year and I love my colorful makeup. I will wear it as long as I want to ! Idc what year it is ! ❤
I agree with you. I enjoy a lot of longform content when I’m getting ready for work in the morning. I have RUclips up and I like to watch and hang out with people and they keep me company while I’m getting ready. I also I’m tired of all the sales on TikTok shop it’s like the entertainment is gone and all it is is sell sell sell. It drives me bonkers because I did enjoy it before it became what it is now there’s still some things I enjoy but not all of it and that’s why I mix things up on my channel because not everybody wants to watch make up videos so I try to do other things on my channel For everybody to enjoy so there’s room for everybody there you know what I mean so I completely understand where you’re coming from
I appreciate long form content. I don't subscribe to ANY streaming services : YT and books are my primarily form of entertainment. 1. I was on an insane buy streak in 2022 and 2023 but went on an extremely low buy in 2024 and was decluttering a lot in 2024. What I've noticed about myself - I like to watch reviews and decide later down the road if I want to pick that product up. Nomad's Fuji and NZ is still on my wishlist and maybe something from Lethal. 2. Yes to you sharing books with us. For the gaming part, if you are not too comfortable sharing that with us, that's ok. 3. Yes to underconsumption, being more sustainable and being mindful with what we buy with our heart earned money.
Love Robert (and James) Welsh so much I think it's cuz youtube really got cracked down on re: ad disclosure but people are still getting away with not doing disclosing on tiktok despite it being illegal. A couple of certain mega huge influencers are so bad about it and are constantly getting called out for it by it people, but it just never stops or gets better which is why lots of people really dislike them even if they are amazing at doing makeup My favourite gamer youtubers are LucklessLovelocks and ChristopherOdd (both nice Canadian variety streamers). I just watch the games I'm interested in I think the reason people have separate channels for things is cuz the algorithm kills them when they put other stuff on their main channel. Like I'm personally all for a variety of stuff, but I've heard youtubers say countless times that when they do that, none of their stuff gets pushed at all
I'm sure thats the case and the reason for it is that most people are here for beauty so if they don't see that-the algorithm sees that people don't want to watch it so it doesn't get pushed. I could do it on another channel but idk...I'm torn
I’m 68 don’t do TikTok. I watch influencers that do drugstore and high end.I have combo skin I’m so sick of dewy matchup and glow drops. If I can’t see it in store I don’t buy it Enjoy your video
Be you sweetie! I love you as you are. You care more about your audience than many do. Your channel, your content, your opinion, your right to be you. Who cares about haters. 😊❤
I completely agree about loving long form content. I work from home and have for 8 years now. Working from home is pretty lonely, so I like throwing on long form RUclips videos to listen to while I am working, it makes me feel a little less alone. 💜
Not a fan of tiktok (Or really social media in general. The only things I use are this and goodreads, both of which barely qualify), so I'm fine if it gets banned. And I love the long form content! I put it on while I'm doing work around the house or to relax after I put my kids to bed. I'm also trying not to buy so much in 2025. My plans are to only buy cosmetics (makeup/nail polish/etc) when it's on sale, unless it's something that I actually run out of and need more of (ex, mascara, foundation). Also, I need to revamp my wardrobe and I'm going to try and stick to secondhand shopping as much as possible. I'm actually curious as to how the new Lunar Beauty collection (day and night) sold because not only did it launch first on tiktok, but Manny also failed to do a youtube video about it. I feel that those videos were always a big part of what sold the collections because you got to see his excitement over it (which in turn makes you as a consumer excited), as well as in depth swatches of everything (which would have been super helpful with this collection since lots of the colors looked the same in the pan but different once you swatched them).
You post what u want on your channel. Makeup is cool but for me I like organizing cleaning different lifestyle I even watched some play a game I want to see if I would like.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 be yourself and post as you like!!!! You’re showing yourself & if they don’t like it…they don’t have to watch. People are just so negative anymore!!! That’s what I’d like to see removed in 2025 is negativity!!! You make me smile being your authentic self & I appreciate you!!!!
I would so be interested in watching you play video games, I remember when you streamed yourself playing Detroit becomes human and the sims which was so much fun!!!
Thank you for doing this topic. Brands aren’t our friends (ooh, possible video idea for you if you like). They are there to make money. They don’t care about us as people, so they will do what “is best” for their survival. I’ve been on a variation of a no-buy or a low-buy since 2015, and it’s been very helpful for my budget, clutter levels and mental health.
I really think hard about my purchases as I know I don’t need any more makeup I am going to be on a no buy that said I may pick up something but it will be very small purchases. I am to the point that I have too much and get anxious when I walk in my makeup room I want to enjoy it again and the mature me knows I don’t need everything that comes out. ❤❤❤
I would love to watch your long form while working. I watch your Sunday video first thing Monday morning when I log in and always wish it was longer. I have no idea what the almighty algorithm would do if you strayed from make up, but I'd watch. I don't have TikTok, but the internet just feels like one big commercial now a days. I try to watch things that have some sort of sustenance. To keep my brain from truly rotting I enrolled in a certificate program for work (they pay for) & I started riding my dirt bike again. I totally understand being more than just make up.
Hey Allie,Happy New Year to you,Corey, and the fur-babies! You know that I have been following you for quite a long time, and I say post what makes YOU happy. Jessica Braun is a great example. She started out doing just makeup content, but as she has gotten older and her life has changed, her content has evolved as well. I think that is natural. It reflects the creator's own growth and journey. In the end, your content has to be personally fulfilling before anything else. Otherwise it isn't worth it. Much love to you!
Alloe I agree so much about long form content ! I watch TikTok when I have a few minutes to waste. I watch or listen to you tube doing everything else... lol love RUclips!
I understand the overconsumption, but as a new ytbr I have to buy mystery boxes with subpar items and pick new releases. I was so excited about hitting pan and I don't want to be in a crazy place but comfortable would be great!
I have been watching your videos since the very beginning of your channel. I love watching your makeup style blossom and your growth in the whole make up world. I am not buying or really following makeup content anymore. Actually you might be one of the only makeup channels i still will watch. I have way too much or i have try them all know what i like so i dont want to try anything new. I still watch because of you! I would love to see other stuff on your channel like books and even disney adventures.i actually have read some of the books u mentioned on your channel.
I’ve been really cutting back on makeup and that’s why I love watching you because you are very honest with us and I appreciate that so much ❤ happy new year by the way hoping 2025 is better ❤
I’m so down to like not watch big beauty gurus in 2025 - it feels like when someone gets large, they become like a brand instead of a real person giving real reviews or the quirky comes off as more of a gimmick instead of authentic. I adore your channel because you’re so not scripted & throwing in shit/fucks while talking ❤ I’m also a big fan of silly big beat makeup looks & horror movies so lean in girl 😂
I think the reason brands launch on Tik Tok and then launch on their sites later is a matter of inventory. They don’t know how much they are going to sell on Tik Tok because it’s the Wild West. From a business perspective (especially for smaller brands), it makes sense to fulfill the orders from Tik Tok first. Then the rest go to the website. I work for a large apparel manufacturer and inventory management is tough with all of the post-Covid supply chain/shipping challenges - even when you are a big brand.
Yes i am with everyone in saying that I am not shopping nearly as much in 2025, and hopefully for a few years! I need to start saving money because I don't have a 401k or retirement.
I totally agree with these points. I love long form content, it’s irreplaceable. Diversifying your content sounds good to me! I love gaming and books!!
As a small content creator, thank you for your honesty and letting me know all of important information 🥰💛 you are definitely worth waaay more than $75 dollars. Wow some brads try it 🤦🏻♂️ I agree with you so much! I love authentic content long form!!
To adopt a more mindful approach to consumption, we should avoid buying on impulse due to hype or fear of missing out. Instead, we need to recognize that makeup expires and focus on using our existing supplies. Given our already extensive collections of palettes and lip products, further purchases are unjustified. The constant cycle of decluttering and replacing items can result in unnecessary waste.
I'm trying to not buy as much and use what I have. I created 11 fun categories and input my entire palette collection. Then I used a random number generator to choose some categories and palettes I'll use for the month. It's reinvigorated my love for my collection and sparked my creativity. Would be happy to share.
In 2025 I would like to see the indie brands slow down on so many dang palettes! I can’t keep up! Also I actually hope to slow down my buying in general.
I ❤ your channel and long form content... agreed I used to Adore RBK and Tati but those ships have sailed- eek... I hope "2016" makeup is back- I'm 42 and have never stopped wearing my daily full beat 😂
TikTok wants their constitutional right but when to create a speaks out and tells the truth, they ban them and they’re not giving them their constitutional right so I think TikTok should go I liked it when they did it RUclips and Instagram. I can’t keep up with both all three. Plus TikTok doesn’t follow their followers to find out if he getting scammed or not. I got scammed with the dose of colors bought it and still haven’t gotten my money back. I like RUclips better on TikTok. TikTok is giving you good deals, but a lot of them are scams.
Plus on TikTok it’s a good way people make money, but they need to weed out the people that are putting disgusting stuff up there and watch people are scamming. This is the last scammers up there.
They’re supposed to go out to the beehive which brings over their flowers and everything, but I don’t know anything he’s doing it. I think they’re all putting eggs in basket and praying that Trump saves TikTok.
I think Etsy is going out of business because they’re taking away all their creator and friends program right now until March. They’re giving away the box of charm and that’s it.
I hate the fact that Shannon and Temu are paying all these people to be giving them free stuff. I don’t buy from them at all and then when I went on TikTok shop, I bought stuff and found out it was from Temu. I don’t want stuff from Temu.
❤ I’m ok if TikTok goes away. I love long form content on RUclips ❤ I can’t stand the short term content, I feel a lot of peoples attention spans aren’t what they used to be because of TikTok ❤ but you look beautiful as always and wishing you the best 2025 ever ❤
Hi I have a question for you. I bought a few loose powders eyeshadow powders kind of thing from the brand that was closing sorry it’s late at night I can’t remember loose pigments that’s what it is mine glue the glue really didn’t work what do you use to work with these loose pigments?
Undisclosed ads are actually illegal, it’s disgusting when they do that. If you want to add more topics to your channel, it will slow the views and such down but then you’ll find your adjusted audience then it’ll go back to normal. I would maybe suggested a more consistent schedule involving new topics. Like gaming on Tuesday, books Thursday, makeup Friday and Saturday or something like that
I agree with many of your points. Im a full coverage, full face girlie for life so I will almost always watch makeup tutorials and long form content. I will say that I do not want to know too much about people's personal life. These parasocial relationships is part of the problem with social media and it's not healthy. I also like subjects being kept to separate channels but I think I might be in the minority. I do not watch lifestyle content so when beauty channels veer too far into that direction, I will stop watching and eventually unsubscribe. I low key hope TikTok gets banned. It took the hyperconsumerism and PR wastefulness and put it on steroids and I am completely over it. I really want brands to go back to 4 releases a year. Let us have some anticipation and excitement and create lots of looks. When Melt and Urban Decay would drop, everyone paid attention and it would have a buzz for weeks if not months. A release every six weeks is too much especially when they're repetitive. At this point it feels like everyone is duping everyone and it makes me not want to buy most things that come out. And I'm definitely in the minority but I do not want to see any collabs with creators for 2025, or at least slow them way down. They show bias because brown and black creators rarely get picked, they are often repetitive with the creators selected and the color stories used, and most of the time they're just not that great but everyone seems to be compelled to say good things about it because the beauty community is so small. IMO, Robert Welsh was the only collab from 2024 that everything in the collection was really good. Im indifferent about IP collabs but I think it's because they've been around for so long and done so often that I tune them out lol. I would also like for the beauty community to stop giving negative attention to brands when they mess up. Give it a brief mention and then move on. Making videos, shorts, commentary, and long strings of comments about poor behavior just gives them and the offending product more shine and ultimately money. The fiasco with the lilac/white blush as well as Youthforia didn't deserve the 30 minutes of fame that either of those situations got and I say that as a deep brown skinned woman. And finally, I want all the creators that have pets to show them regularly in their videos so I can ohh and ahh over them lol.
okay noted!! I will show my pets more!! I do share parts of my life because I'm filming and I just like tell my stories but I can see where you are coming from. I promise I will never steer away from makeup but I definitely will throw in random book content here and there and some vlogs to just spice things up for myself but will still be 95% beauty here on my channel
Also I agree-I would absolutely love to see more collabs for POC/Black content creators!! I will say some collabs takes a year to come out so there could still be influencer collabs in 2025 but I'd love to see it diversify heavily!
That’s crazy with the jewelry company! I’ve noticed other RUclipsrs do sponsored content with them. I’ve never bought from them but definitely won’t now!
I am not a short form content type. I love to watch long content like a bushcraft I watch called Lone Wolf. He goes out in the woods doing camping videos, and his content is an hour long or 2 parts. He has a dog Boomer who is a treat to watch doing his zooming chasing birds and squirrels, and he always finds a twig to chew on. 😂 Another I love is Atik Aislesi. I watch stuff outside of the realm makeup. I hate TikTok, never loved Insta Gram or Pinterest. To me, you can't possibly convince me to buy or believe in the short form of content. I am a RUclips gal. Feeling better. More human again. My lips are so dry and cracked it hurts. LOL 😊❤ I have a lip oil next to me and drinking fluids.
@AllieDawson you will love him. He made a video on NYs with his rooftop tent. He has a camper van and often brings his hammock with canopy. Oh in the snow! 😆
I hate tik tok, we have tik tok shop in the uk but it is just so tacky, rather go through normal websites. I literally shudder at the thought of tik tok! You tube is my fave app, wish companies wouldnt put their all into tiktok, its not fair x Im also trying to cut down on make up consumption this year. Use what i got and put my money to important things in my life... wish me luck 😂😂 xx
I think (and hope) to see a resurgence of tutorials with current makeup with good quality instead of the 13year old videos from back in the day that still get views. Shop my stash videos and just videos exploring items further that allow for more creativity and a bit more teaching over the qvc style
PR for creators bigger than you!? What about us "tiny/micro/whatevers" out here that don't take our channels for granted? We purchase every item we show in our channels!? Some of us have more talent as well. Yes, there needs to be more fairness. Because when (not if) I get better and obtain the views and following to become bigger, if I am not good enough now, I won't be then. Save your shipping.❤❤❤❤❤
That’s how I feel and felt for so long. Keep following your dreams and never let a brand take advantage of you because of your following size! You are valuable. Never forget that
I am not a Tick Tock person, more Instagram and RUclips....I don't want to listen to people sell stuff I rather watch people use it and give an honest opinion
I love IG but unless I’m constantly engaging in other peoples posts there is ZERO growth. But if you actually engage with other creators TOO much you get put in interaction jail. It’s ridiculous
Ugh. TikTok. I can’t My attention span is short enough It goes too fast and jumps from one thing to another with no pauses. Practically gives me whiplash. It’s way too much. Hate hate hate Im all for long form content. Im listening whole having my coffee getting ready to head out to work. I like listening to videos while im at work. I play them in the background while im doing paperwork I enjoy listening to you talk about books and other stuff too. Not much of a gamer unless it’s old school like donkey Kong or Mario cart. But I get where you’re coming from and can totally respect it. I feel the same about overconsumption as you. I need to stop.
@ Ana Luisa Luxe program. When one places an order it is a little hidden new thing that one is also subscribing to. An automatic monthly payment to apply to future purchases charged once monthly, 34.99 or 39.99. I am not sure the amount, reoccurring. Happened on my last order for a. Christmas gift and only realized it when I got the welcome email. Really suss. Confirmed my suss when you posted this video.
Words I genuinely want to die in the year 2025: "Overcomsumption". This word is way overused and it makes a lot of people feel bad (whether they admit it or not) Enough of this already. It is OUR money, and we choose to spend it how WE want to. We owe NO ONE an explanation for that. Enough with this word already. Please.
Oh man! That part about being overlooked because you’re a somewhat smaller creator really struck a chord with me. I think I’m going to pay a closer attention on indie brands now and see whom they repost/like…i know Karen Harris has a similar experience as you and i recently started following you both more closely and that treatment you both get from brands -it really saddens and upsets me. So please know at least some of us are here for you all🫶🫶🫶
I think I have discovered that I like listening to beauty-related content more than watching old-school content like hauls and PR unboxings. I'm much more of a conscious consumer now, and watching overconsumption feels icky in this economy.😊
Totally understand!!
One of my makeup goals is to not buy launches right when they launch. I rather wait for reviews. ❤
Thats a good goal!
Same girl!
Don’t have tiktok and don’t care for it. I prefer RUclips. I enjoy watching your videos!
Same!
Awe thank you!
I was so happy that Jen Phelps shared how much she spent this year and how she is making a monthly budget❤
"On the toilet" 😂 soooooo true! Love your realness. And yes to long form! It's a better depth.

TikTok should change their name to The New QVC
It's so funny how when I was younger, we used QVC as an insult, and now it's basically trendy 😂
This generally made me laugh hahaha
Allie I love your sweatshirt it's so cute!
thank you!
I totally agree with you. Thanks for sharing.❤
Awe, thank you! 🥰
I love the colored background!!!!!! 😍
Thank you!!
Absolutely loved your openness and honesty. Thank you Allie. And you are worthy of everything good life has to offer. Stay strong 💕☺️
would love to see some non makeup content from you ❤ loved the video!
Yes, I think Allie has what it takes to do lifestyle content.
Aww I’d love to try it!

I think that would be so fun!
As a small content creator, thank you for your honesty and letting me know all of important information 🥰💛 you are definitely worth waaay more than $75 dollars. Wow some brads try it 🤦🏻♂️ I agree with you so much! I love authentic content long form!!
Make sure you know your value love!
I have never had tick tok, and youtube is my go-to!!
I might have bought a couple of the make up launches last year.
💛 Allie time 💛
I'm trying to not buy as much and use what I have. I created 11 fun categories and input my entire palette collection. Then I used a random number generator to choose some categories and palettes I'll use for the month. It's reinvigorated my love for my collection and sparked my creativity. Would be happy to share.
That sounds fun, I'm all about finding new ways to be creative with my makeup!
Yes, please slow down on the launches! I only got one paycheck and two eyelids 😅
Good idea for a video!
In 2025 I would like to see the indie brands slow down on so many dang palettes! I can’t keep up! Also I actually hope to slow down my buying in general.
I ❤ your channel and long form content... agreed I used to
Adore RBK and Tati but those ships have sailed- eek... I hope "2016" makeup is back- I'm 42 and have never stopped wearing my daily full beat 😂
I would love for 2016 makeup to be back!
Girl said, "While sh!ting on the toilet," had to rewind to make sure I heard correctly, then died laughing. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Sometimes it’s like everything on Tiktok is an AD like what did you buy with your own money.
Hi I have a question for you. I bought a few loose powders eyeshadow powders kind of thing from the brand that was closing sorry it’s late at night I can’t remember loose pigments that’s what it is mine glue the glue really didn’t work what do you use to work with these loose pigments?
19:08 please bring back gaming ❤
I don't have tiktok, I don't know if we have the shop here. I'm on a no-buy this year. Clothes are included.
6-8 hours gaming!!!😮
I wish I could!
Undisclosed ads are actually illegal, it’s disgusting when they do that.
If you want to add more topics to your channel, it will slow the views and such down but then you’ll find your adjusted audience then it’ll go back to normal. I would maybe suggested a more consistent schedule involving new topics. Like gaming on Tuesday, books Thursday, makeup Friday and Saturday or something like that
I have tik tok. But don't really do the do anything with the tik tok shop.
Watching this while waiting for my flight home ❤
Hope you have a great flight!
Funny you say that about QVC, even Ian Somerhalder had a product he was pushing on tiktok. The video and audio was horrible though.
They might get a better deal but I’m not the only one this brand has treated poorly
I'll check that guy out!
You tube is my fave app, wish companies wouldnt put their all into tiktok, its not fair x
Im also trying to cut down on make up consumption this year. Use what i got and put my money to important things in my life... wish me luck 😂😂 xx
I wish you luck!!
I think (and hope) to see a resurgence of tutorials with current makeup with good quality instead of the 13year old videos from back in the day that still get views.
Shop my stash videos and just videos exploring items further that allow for more creativity and a bit more teaching over the qvc style
I do miss my shop my stash!
Never forget that
❤ ❤❤
Love your video's. Can I send you a card? I make cards.
I’d love it!
Really? These algorithms are too much.
@ that has been my experience for the last 6 months or so. The conspiracy theorist in me wonders if it’s because I refuse to pay for verification🤣
@@mymakeupgardenI wouldn’t doubt it!!
I truly didn’t even know that’s kinda how it’s done. That’s too much lol
@@AllieDawson yeah it is 🤣
Ugh. TikTok. I can’t
My attention span is short enough
It goes too fast and jumps from one thing to another with no pauses. Practically gives me whiplash. It’s way too much. Hate hate hate
Im all for long form content. Im listening whole having my coffee getting ready to head out to work. I like listening to videos while im at work. I play them in the background while im doing paperwork
I enjoy listening to you talk about books and other stuff too. Not much of a gamer unless it’s old school like donkey Kong or Mario cart. But I get where you’re coming from and can totally respect it. I feel the same about overconsumption as you. I need to stop.
I don't mind when its like books but makeup...I'm over the overconsumption
Just unsubscribed to AL Luxe program because of this video. Sorry that happened to you. ❤
I’m sorry what is AL Luxe?
