  • Cinematic Platformers, a sub-genre of 2D Platformers, have always fascinated me with their attention to detail and realistic movements and physics. “Flashback”, designed and directed by Paul Cuisset, was remastered by him for its 25th Anniversary on August 21st, 2013. In a nutshell, the remaster is wonderful!

your title confused the shit out of me because I was just like "it's not Flashback's 25th anniversary, it's over 30 years old", and I didn't realize there was a 25th anniversary edition at all. But now I need to know what's up, so it got me watching!

You know it's really funny, I've been super aware of Delphine's other cinematic platformer, Another World/Out of This World, for a really long time but I have never really given much thought to Flashback. I've seen it around, but it never really stick out that much to me. It's especially weird considering it was a triumph for 16-bit computers and I absolutely adore those machines.

As I settle into my seat, anticipation crackling in the air, I can't help but feel a surge of excitement coursing through me. The theater darkens, and with a hush falling over the audience, the screen flickers to life, unveiling the cinematic marvel that is the latest creation from Guptill89. From the very first frame, it's evident that we're in for an unforgettable journey-a journey that will sweep us off our feet and into a world of boundless imagination.
What strikes me immediately is the meticulous attention to detail evident in every aspect of the film. From the intricately designed sets to the stunning cinematography, each element has been carefully crafted to perfection. It's as though Guptill89 has painted a canvas with light and sound, weaving a tapestry of sights and sounds that envelops us in its embrace.
But it's not just the technical brilliance that sets this film apart; it's the storytelling that truly captivates. The narrative unfolds with a grace and elegance that is both mesmerizing and deeply affecting. We're introduced to a cast of characters so richly drawn and compelling that they feel like old friends, their struggles and triumphs resonating with us on a visceral level.
And then there are the visuals-oh, the visuals! Each frame is a work of art unto itself, a symphony of color and movement that transports us to worlds beyond our wildest imagination. Whether it's the sweeping vistas of distant galaxies or the intimate moments shared between lovers, every scene is imbued with a sense of wonder and awe that leaves us breathless.
But perhaps what is most remarkable about this film is its ability to transcend the boundaries of genre and convention. It defies categorization, blending elements of science fiction, drama, and romance into a seamless whole that feels utterly unique and original. In Guptill89's hands, the familiar becomes unfamiliar, the mundane becomes magical, and the impossible becomes possible.
As the credits roll and the lights come up, I find myself reluctant to leave this cinematic world that Guptill89 has so brilliantly brought to life. It's a world filled with wonder and possibility, where anything is possible and the only limit is the bounds of our own imagination. And though the film may have ended, its impact lingers on, reminding us of the power of storytelling to inspire, to uplift, and to transform.
In conclusion, the latest offering from Guptill89 is nothing short of a cinematic masterpiece-a tour de force that reaffirms his status as one of the greatest filmmakers of our time. It's a film that demands to be seen, to be experienced, and above all, to be celebrated. So do yourself a favor and don't miss out on this extraordinary cinematic journey. You won't regret it.
