So I followed the tutorial step by step. I sliced my website text, filled in my URl, created a PDF Presentation (saving as a PDF Presentation and then as a Multi-Page Document); but neither seemed to work. So tried Preserve Photoshop Capabilities, then tried Optimize For Fast Web Preview, the even tried with each of the resolutions from Highest to Lowest. Still hyperlinks do not convert over to PDF viewers, only retain information if opening the PDF in Photoshop. So this tutorial doesn't seem to work - I might have to invest in a PDF Editing Software :(
Thank you... but it didn´t work for me. I also have CC2020 and I followed carefully your steps but when I open the document I do not get the link or the small hand to click on, I cannot figure out what is happening. I gave up...
It's beacuse you have to write in your document the exact link you want hiperlink, same in the box and in the text in your document. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work to say for example "click here" and then hyperlink. You have to actually type the URL "" etc.
For all those for whom it didn't work, try this. She forgot to mention one step. Once you have everything ready, before you use the slice tool, MAKE SURE TO MERGE ALL VISIBLE LAYERS (cmd+control+shift+E). Keep only the merged visible layer visible, and do the slicing and renaming on the merged visible layer. After that, you can follow whatever she's saying in the video. I did that and it worked for me. Hope this helps 👍🏻
I struggled all the day on this problem. I did my CV on photoshop and wanted to add a link to my portfolio on it as a PDF that we can open in a navigator (firefox, chrome, edge...). It never worked. My guess is the link work from acrobat but not through a navigator. My advice : if it don't work, like for me, give up adding the link with Photoshop. 1) In Photoshop, save your document as pdf extra quality jpeg compression maximum, it's really important, not jpeg. 2) Then open Indesign, create a document with the wanted size, then put your pdf in it. 3) Use the hyperlink option, it's really simple with Indesign. 4) Export. 5) Open your pdf in a navigator, the quality should be PDF like, that's why i told you not save in photoshop as jpeg. 6) Give Photoshop some middle fingers cause it might took you hours like me to finally understand HE CAN'T DO THIS SIMPLE THING !
What do I do when this doesn't work? I opened it in Preview and there's no link. It looks correct in Photoshop, exactly as you have it here, but when I open the PDF it's not there.
Hi! I see that some people are having trouble making this work and unfortunately so do I. I followed your steps, I copied a link to a google drive folder, it is clickable if I save the file as an HTML file but when I export it as a pdf presentation the link is no longer clickable. I use Ps 2020. Would really appreciate some help here! :)
Hi Peter. Really hard to say since I don't know how it looks where you have it setup. The biggest thing I've noticed is that people don't type out the actual URL in the PDF presentation. So If you are listing your website, unfortunate you can't type WEBSITE and then hyperlink. You have to actually type out the URL in the text and hyperlink that text. Is that what you have been doing?
*[2022] SIMPLE SOLUTION FOR THOSE THAT COULDN'T MAKE THIS WORK (me included)* *_its not 100% cause it only works for -10MB pdfs and also you cant make the link open in a new tab, but if these are not problems for you, this will work perfectly_* so after I've finished my work: > I clicked to save my file > then I selected the format "photoshop pdf" on the list and clicked to save it > after that a dialog opened and I unchecked the first box that said "Preserve Photoshop Editing Capabilities" and clicked to save again > then I went to this website tool called "PDF Escape" and registered to it > clicked on the "Free online" button > uploaded my pdf > added the hyperlinks and then saved it again then I got my hyperlinks working just fine :) hope this works for you guys.
Thought I found what I needed, but sadly does not work. :-( Adobe Photoshop CC 2019, even when I go to automate PDF Presentation, the link does not end up in the file.
So you have to have the URL in the text spelled out. For example, you can't type WEBSITE and hyperlink it. You have to actually put the website in the text as www.website.com and then hyperlink that text. Otherwise it won't work.
Thanks for the tutorial! And for anyone having issues with the links only working with the full URL, something that you could do is make the parts of the URL that you don't want to show be tiny (1pt, less than that didn't work) and same color as the background. That way you sort of hide it. Worked for me at least
Hi thanks a lot for this video.. one problem i am facing is i am not able to create hyperlink for 2nd text on same page.. doing same steps as shown.. but its not happening....... can u pls suggest something..... will be a help
UPDATE: It seems with the newer version of PS this is no longer a correct way to do it. Unfortunately the updates seems to have removed the ability to use the slice tool to create a hyperlink in PS. This still works for older versions.
Juste a quick head's up about this tutorial : it doesn't work. What happens is that the pdf reader used is detecting automatically the written email and website, and adding on the fly hyperlink to it. That's why for this method to "work" you have to write exactly the email and the website inside the text layer. Of course depending on the pdf reader used, the automatical detection will occur or not. For example it does work when using Adob Acrobat Reader DC, but won't work when reading the pdf using Chrome.
This may be specific but any help is appreciated. I save the file (in this case it is a flyer with a link to a zoom call on it) to my desktop. When I open it from my desktop everything works fine, but when I try to put it into my google drive it opens up as code. It’s due tomorrow plz help haha
Yeah, for those of you who are having issues with the website, for some reason, the last version of Photoshop requires you to type the exact URL in the text you are trying to hyperlink.
IF ITS NOT WORKING: Try with text instead of Logos etc. With logo it did not work to me but with text it did. Does someone has a solution for icons/images?
Thank you sooo much! Your video literally saved me! I couldn't figure out how to do it and I watched other videos, but yours was the one that actually made it work!
this is very helpful thank you .. it worked with the mail but didn't work with the links ! i tried saving the same file as HTML to see if the links are working and they were !!?
So the trick is with the link you have to have the actual URL in the text. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work to say for example Website and then hyperlink. You have to actually type the URL out.
it works with the link but I want to make an image in my pdf clickable. I have a download button image that I want to insert the actual DL link but it won't work. How do I do that or can I?
It didn't work for me, I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'm trying to link a dropbox link to "Click here" on the PDF. Update: On Photoshop 2022 I have to save it under "Save for web legacy" or it doesn't work.
works for me the big struggle is that I dont know how to export it properly and it to my email signature - either its all messed up cause of the slices and i can t fix it or it shows up but without the pictures and only the links
the problem is that works just for opening in Adobe, with WhatsApp, for exemple, the url is coming with just one W, instead of WWW. So it returns an error.
Your information was super except there were a couple of things I couldn't see or understand because it was very small and a bit blurry. Like the target, is that important and what was it?
DOESN'T WORK!! Even if the url is in a text box on the document the hyperlink gets rid of double letters (eg turns gallery to galery) meaning your link won't work! Avoid trying this and wasting your time.
Thanks. It works only if you type in your document the exact URL you want hiperlink, same in the box and in the text in your document. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work to say for example "click here" and then hyperlink. You have to actually type the URL "" in your document.
This is super helpful! But how do you create the separate pages for the PDF? From this tutorial, it looks like it's one page - the contact page. So how does the whole document come together? Appreciate you sharing this, thanks!!!
Hi Uma. So I create all the separate pages in Photoshop in different documents. Then you need to save them individually. I would number them in the order you want them. Then you go to File > Automate > PDF Presentation and add all the open pages. If you've numbered them you can easily make sure they're in the correct order and then save it as your PDF with your preferred export settings. This will create the entire PDF Magazine for you.
Thanks!! It worked for me after some tries. The issue for me is I have to retype tt in 'https'. I found the issue when I copied the links and saw the tt are weired symbols.

Yep I cannot get it working either.
same, i wonder if anyone figured it out?
For me it does not work either (I viewed it in adobe acrobat, edge browser, google chrome)
me too, the best option is to download the pdf and use a pdf editor online to add the links
Same here. This is a Good-Intentions-video, but..... I just got lost in the folder's sections.

Same, I am on Photoshop CC 2021
Same goes for me too.
It's beacuse you have to write in your document the exact link you want hiperlink, same in the box and in the text in your document. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work to say for example "click here" and then hyperlink. You have to actually type the URL "" etc.

Hi, What version of Photoshop when you made this video?
Correct I should read it before I sliced all my document
It doesn't work through photoshop , so i re did it on canva and it was super easy to add the links and export. It works perfectly now
Very helpful thanks Freyja

Is there a way to batch process unique PDFs files the have variable data numbers with a hyperlink (the hyperlink is the same for all unique PDFs)?

If i want to move from one artboard to another by clicking the icon or link how could I do that?
Yeah, for those of you who are having issues with the website, for some reason, the last version of Photoshop requires you to type the exact URL in the text you are trying to hyperlink.
so you can't copy and paste?
