This song makes me imagine two characters who had to let go of their love for each other when they realized that they're enemies in a middle of a lethal war. One has to let go of a promise to aim for justice and one already succumbed to the darkness. In the end, both of them attacked each other and died together. But before their death, they reached for each other's hand as they longed for a future that they'll never have.
