I would really appreciate a Flip through of the teacher's guide and some of the books like the Kingdom Tales one. Really considering this curriculum. Thanks so much.
Love your picks for next year! Looking forward to seeing how your year goes! For typing we've tried almost everything, and have had the most success with Typing 1, 2, and 3 from The Good & The Beautiful. We also LOVE their language arts program....also advanced in content. Your upcoming year looks great! :)
I'm doing this same cycle with my 3rd, 5th, 8th this coming fall! I'm also doing their Language they recommended, but bought the Abeka grammar, spelling, and cursive writing for each just because that's the curriculum we've always used, and i don't want them to forget things. Then we're going to try Master Books math. I'm excited! We've only used Abeka DVD's for school, and I'm looking forward to shorter days and more time together. 😍
I have used spelling power for several years. It is a very good program. At the beginning, you give your children a placement test and that tells you where to start them in the book. The Same Book can be used for every child since it is completely non-consumable. This past year, instead of using the pages that are provided by spelling power my son just wrote out his tests and study sheets in a composition book that we got during the back to school sales. That worked for us probably because he is so used to the program after all this time. A couple of problems that I have found after several years are #1 my son often does not like doing the daily test. The idea of the program is that you test the student first and then they only study the words that they have missed . This works quite well because there is regular review so every word gets tested four or five times to make sure they really do know it. But my child really hates it when he misses a word. He would almost rather have a program that gives him a list to study first before being tested on the words. However, I know other children really appreciate only needing to study the words that they don't know. #2 the program has worked so extremely well for him that now he is getting into some very difficult words that he hasn't necessarily seen before in his reading. Spelling power of course just gives a list and doesn't use the words in context. Personally, I will be switching to a more copywork based approach to spelling for this coming year. However I plan to keep spelling power on my shelf because I have seen that it works very well and we met at some point come back to it.
Thank you, this is really helpful. It sounds like it might be a better fit than what we're currently using for my kids. They are already proficient at spelling, so this might really appeal to them!
Thank you for sharing this. I have heard so many wonderful things about my father's world I will be checking into that for my son this year.. I look forward to watching more of your videos and thank you so much for the great information and have an amazing day and please stop by my channel and say Hi blessings!! Mama's Little lambs
Teaching Textbooks is my fave. I will never NOT use them. I haven't tried typing.com, I'm going to look there for sure! We used Typer Island last year, and my youngest LOVED that program.
Thank you for sharing. I have a 1st grader next year. I was looking at Brave writer for LA and Abeka do you think thats to much? Have you ever used Brave Writer? I just dont want to overwhelm him. We did Abeka for everything this year and did some MB at the end and that was way to easy compared to Abeka for him.
Hi Stephanie! I probably wouldn't do Abeka AND Bravewriter together. Abeka has everything for Language Arts, spelling, grammar, writing, reading, etc. I'm not sure what all BW has with it, we've never used it, but I'm assuming it's reading and writing. You may need to add in spelling and grammar to make it complete.
@@mandy-maltz Thank you so much the beginning of teaching is hard to find the right things to make sure they are learning everything they need for their grade.
@@mandy-maltz have you tried Spelling You See? If so, what are your thoughts? I am thinking of adding this while trying out Common Sense Press. I love MB but, he needs more basic instruction.
So happy to see you back, Mandy! Curriculum videos are my FAV!!!!😃
Aw thank you! They are my favorite, too! I could talk curriculum for hours LOL

Anyone do Charlotte Mason?

Just curious, how long does your homeschool work take you to complete each day?

I’m definitely looking into my father’s world for my son for second grade.
MFW is so fun in the younger grades. We loved Kinder! I haven't found a grade I didn't like with MFW.
Hi. I have a question. What was that bundle of books about missionaries?

I would love to see an in-depth Abeka review! 😇😍❤️

We use Teachikg Textbooks as well! 😃
We are adding typing this year as well! I am deciding between typing.com (free) vs. TG&TB?!!!

We use teaching textbooks too and love it!
Loving MFW! Planning RTR next.

Can I use this curriculum of my fathers world for my 3 and 4 grade?
I mean at the same time?
Can you link to all the materials you mention to make it easy for a novice like myself :)?
How many hours is your homeschool day? I am going to co sider MFW for 2021/22 school year. I just got most of my curriculum already for next year.
We haven't started MFW for this school year, we have a few weeks left before we begin. Traditionally, our school day is about 5 hours on average.
@@mandy-maltz have you tried Spelling You See? If so, what are your thoughts? I am thinking of adding this while trying out Common Sense Press. I love MB but, he needs more basic instruction.
No more Master Books?
This year we don't have any Masterbooks curriculum, although I do enjoy them.
I love Apologia!
Same here! We've done both their math and science and they are second to none. My boys love their science programs.
