Years ago, I had a coworker who was picked on a lot. He was a nice kid who worked hard. Now and then I'd invite him to have a drink with me after work, and even came up with a handshake for us that we used during shifts. One day he came up to me and thanked me for being so nice to him. He then said "If I decide to shoot this place up, I'll make sure it's a day that you're off." I never saw him again. Thankfully he didn't do anything violent.

@@truegirl2anna There was also a guy a jock/football player whom they "interrogated". This guy said something to the effect of "I don't want any trouble" and apparently Dylan replied "trouble? you don't know what trouble is..." and after that Dylan said to Eric " I'm gonna let this fat fuck live, you can have him if you want" to which Eric replied, "Let's go to the commons". This was just after Eric shot Cassie Bernall in the head, which caused his shotgun to recoil back and slam into his face breaking his nose. So after this incident, he seemed to be a bit dizzy and uninterested in killing at that particular moment.
They were bullied at school, but they were not exclusively bulled all the time. What they were pissed off at was that they were excluded and not invited or ignored to where all the "cool" kids were involved in. You know rich, good looking, popular etc... having cool parties, having hot girlfriends etc... they were not invited nor welcomed to such "elite" happenings. They were pissed off at the schools elitist attitude towards rich and popular/sports students that were given all sorts of benefits and could get away with behaving like typical spoiled rich kids. They could abuse other students and school would not punish them at all. They were seen as untouchable and Eric and Dylan were disguisted by this. However this does not condone what they have done.

I really think Dave Cullen is wrong here. They were outcasts, definitely. And even if they had their own friends, they weren't the friends that 'counted'. This is what they interpreted in their own lives, which is what is important. They were alienated from the vast majority of the school and the community, whether by their own actions or attitudes or not.

Look at the source Dave Cullen attributes in his book. Namely, the principal of the school.
I would instead trust the information given by his classmates. There are numerous interviews and quotes to be found in various sources, ranging from Dylan and Eric's closest circle to some of the jocks to some peripheral friends.

    UNPOPULAR OPINION!!
It's interesting to note that when one of the students say that the shooters were laughing while killing their classmates, they are represented as monsters and rightly so. But how is a similar situation like this treated when there are no fatalities? Let's say a bully shoves and pushes on another classmate, dropping their books, outcasting them while laughing in their face...a bully. Schools dont pay much mind. Detention? A strong talk by a teacher? Brushed off as just student to student things. Of course bullies are monsters too. But when you see a bully laughing, people's comments towards them are different. Some may even join in on the public humiliation. Humiliation that might just push one or two kids over the edge and cause a school shooting. And nobody points to a bully when a school shooting happens. In my eyes if a school shooting occurs as the result of deliberate humiliation, those people should be held accountable just as much as a shooter. For as they are the ones who pulled a trigger on a student who may just be going through too much.

I think John said in one of the interview's that he knew Eric or Dylan from one of his classes. He mentioned that he was friendly towards them in class they had together and that they had no reason to hate him or dislike him at all. So when he saw Dylan with a gun he asked Dylan "what he was doing" and Dylan replied "Oh nothin' much, just killing people". At which John asked him " are you going to kill me?" and then Dylan said "nah man get outta here".

    • @kellypierce374

Not all killers show lack of emotion. In fact everyone has emotion. Whether we fail to notice is our own downfall. Those kids were bullied and I believe the planning of the shooting started as a game as therapy for their experience of bullying. Unfortunately it became a fantasy and they were able to carry it through. This is very sad for all the victims including the shooters. If u fix bullying then u will fix the violence. .if anything u will take away the motive.

Dylan was suicidal due to his lack of romantic relationships - which is partially why after they did the killing, they killed themselves (everyone gets a win win) or because Hitler also shot himself, and they were known for shouting: "HEIL HITLER" shit
