If any of you want even more mods, check out the other videos on my channel. Tons of mods got covered there and most of them will be in the Workshop as well by now! :D Here's a video of 15 Overhaul/Remaster Mods for Half-Life 2 for the Workshop ruclips.net/video/Im_z0Li9qyQ/видео.html
There's also a map that I want to mention, that mod is A Shadow over Ravenholm. It is a short 15 - 20 minute horror map that captures that eerie feeling that Ravenholm has. I would definitely recommend it!
If Anything, the re2 source mod does a good job maintaining the original Re2 vibe of where am i supposed to go and what puzzle i need to solve to able to solve another puzzle which is also needed for another puzzle to be solved then the remake (well tbh the source mod came out before the Re2 remake if i remembered well). Overall Kool mod, me like. (the manhack crows did actually jumpscared me).
@BuryTheLight-tds its only follows Leon's A Scenario, so basically Police station, sewers, Labs then straight to the train. So kinda completed in a sense and yeah sadly no mr X, although theres a boss fight at end but considering hl2 mods its just the usual Antlion Guard.
It's pretty much a faithful remake of Resident Evil 2 PS1 in the Source Engine. I was surprised to see the author include all the maps, music and even some setpieces like the Giant Alligator. It was cute. Now I'm waiting for someone to take the mod, add RE2 enemy types and even have a proper zapping system.
The Half life 2 workshop got me so in the mood for modding that I LEARNED HOW TO USE BLENDER. I still suffered though obviously but I at least was able to replace the gnome with a dumb image of my friend’s rabbit that I turned into a model.
Cool, I'll be sure to check some of these out. Also, some of these mods WERE reuploaded to the Steam workshop by the original developers where as most of the other mods you mentioned were not.
Mission Improbable is so good that you could convince someone that it was an oficcial dlc for hl2. I fell in love the first time i played it by looks alone, but for some reason i wasn't able to install it again, good to know is easily accesible in the workshop now. Btw: Lucia ¿Have you played the mod "southernmost combine"? It's on moddb, and takes place on the southern part of Argentina during the 1970's, it has voice acting and all! I'd love to see you review it.
Thanks for recommendations, downloaded them all and will soon play through them all. I'm so glad workshop was brought to Half-Life 2, this will give even more replayability to it.
Don't wanna be the "uhm actually" guy but... in Minerva, you actually play as a renegade combine soldier. He doesn't really have a name but he's known as Perseus by the few people that care (me. sorry!!!). Great video nevertheless!
Played a couple of them but Minerva is the best mod i've played ever. I agree that anyone who enjoyed a Half-Life story and gameplay must play this mod. The fact that creator got a job in Valve thanks to this mod speaks for it's quality.
I started playing through HL2 again with mods this time, and I am having a huge blast. I am mostly using meme mods that are for shits and giggles to be fair, but I'm having a good time. 😅 Tolles Video Lucia! 😁
You should've included Continuum Shift in the list! It's a very well made mod that makes Gordon a time bending wizard and has some nice little puzzles that aren't too hard to solve, I highly recommend it!
The Resident Evil 2 map hinges on you being familiar with the original ps1 game as puzzles and item locations tend to be the same from the original 1998 game
I really like how those maps / campaigns look and feel, the workshop was a good idea, ignoring all of the unauthorized uploads, unauthorized asset ports, terms and service violations,... 🗿
If the puzzle element of Whoopservatory shocked you then you gotta play Thinking With Time Machine, a fan made Portal game that revolves around this very mechanic. You have your normal portal gun but also a time machine that you hit record on and it records your movements. Then when you hit play an avatar of your past self appears and repeats the actions you recorded. You combine this feature with the portal gun to solve puzzles and although it has mixed reviews I actually thought the concept was just as interesting if not MORE interesting than Portal Reloaded! In fact Portal Reloaded just pissed me off at some points, I even solved a puzzle not even knowing HOW I did lol but Thinking With Time Machine was fun the whole time and if anything I was sad when it was over. It's too short!
This to discover from this video: 1. Video is amazing 2. Great maps to play+Guns reanimation mod in the desc. as a bonus (Lucia, bravo👏) (Upd. from my experience Rush Hour is amazing, although its very open and lacks cover, which on higher waves becomes a problem) 3. Discover that hl2 mapping competitions is the best thing that happened in the history of humanity😆
Surprised you didn't mention Dangerous World, its worth to check out. Also it would be cool to see your opinion on some of the skins and gameplay mods in the workshop
I'd like to shout out Local Motive, Uncertainty Principle, Deep Down/Deeper Down, Raining Down Hell, Desert Siege. and Continuum Shift as ones I've played recently and rather enjoyed
By "Best Workshop campaign mods" I thought you'd show best mods that enhance the vanilla campaign experience. Not disappointed with what this video is about but that would be an awesome video idea too! I think?
As a massive Resident Evil fan, I absolutely enjoied the RE2 mod. Really good and surprisingly faithfull to the original, replayed it like 5 times already. Sadly/thankfully it doesn't feature Mr. X.
its not a separate story, but you should check out life-half 2. which is just hl2 but edited so its possible to play in reverse, and there's a lot of funny moments, like Breen being confused how you got in there from the beginning of the mod instead of in the teleporter sequence. did crash 2 or3 times but it wasn't a big pain.
i wish you covered Cosmonaut, its a story about a cosmonaut who has crashed into earth and finding a rocket to leave. This mod has custom HEV suit color and music. Hope you find this comment and played the mod.
the resident evil 2 mod have custom weapons skins if you disable all the custom weapons skin you installed also really love your videos and sorry for my bad english
the creator of the SMOD mods should upload their work to the workshop. tho they'll have to update everything in the mod to be compatible with today's source engine version of Half Life 2
Agreed. I don’t believe it’s as super bad though as they usually give credit and don’t really gain anything from it(aside steam points maybe) Hope to see them uploaded by the original creators some time soon though.
@@1lucia An extra grievance I have is that among those unauthorized reuploads in the list, Mission Improbable, Whoopservatory, and Research & Development have been reuploaded by a troll who's spending their time posting long rants about the game in the discussions, probably AI generated like their PP and all the "art" they post on their profile. And they also have a vac ban, so a cheater as well.😑
Not to discredit these mods or anything, but I wish we had more Half Life 2 mods with new or cut content. One of the reasons why Entropy Zero 2 was amazing to me was weapons and enemies featured in which haven't appeared in other mods.
Just played Minerva: Metastasis, and for me water was broken (I saw wireframe instead of water, and kinda wonder if it's because I use Linux, or if everyone got it too). Apart from that it was a fun map... Is what I would say if I only played first half, but the second one felt a bit overwhelming - chased by an endless swarm of zombies, solving puzzles, and reading half the screen walls of text felt too much.
You really need to rename this video. I came in with the impression that you were going to showcase mods that change the base HL2 experience as oppose to fan made campaign style levels.
I‘ll consider it. I think most people associate the term „mod“ in Half-Life with campaign style mods still. That might change though with the workshop now existing though
If any of you want even more mods, check out the other videos on my channel. Tons of mods got covered there and most of them will be in the Workshop as well by now! :D

Ok
I’m so glad the algorithm recommended me to your channel again bc I forgot

"And now works at Ubisoft!"
God have mercy on his soul.
Oh wow, you included 3 of my maps??! Thank you! They are really old now but im glad it seems they still hold up alright, thanks again for featuring!
you part of valve yet?
No, thank YOU for creating them! :D
HOLY CRAP, ITS THE GUY FROM THE VIDEO!
20 years of modding being revealed to a new audience is a true test of your craftsmenship, they hold up now still. good stuff.
@TopHatDealer lol
Me and Ethosaur are tight, he makes some great maps!
Ethosaur is one of the greats for sure

Was it ever completed? I was kinda sad when I didn't encounter an enemy that acted similar to Mr X. I didn't continue on from the sewer level.

Honorific mod mention:
Garry's Mod citizens for Half Life 2

Great list, Lucia! I would also put the Citizen and the Citizen Returns. Both imo are both really great mods.

This is like, the first video of HL2's workshop that isnt "it's a mistake bro" soo, congrats!!
Nice video btw.
I love that I can actually respect the video going for 8 minutes because the content is so good
Mission Improbable is so good that you could convince someone that it was an oficcial dlc for hl2.

pretty cool mods, i def need to give some of them a try! especially those story ones

epic video, i will be playing these at some point
just watched your entropy vid and now uploaded wohooo im eating good today. immer geil was von dir zu sehen

Tolles Video Lucia! 😁
Surprised you didnt cover Deep Down or Deeper Down, fun campaigns to zip through :D
I have have played precisely zero Half-Life mods. Thanks to your video I will change that. Thank you.
still glad the game gotten a big Update and workshop. hope TF2 gets more love sometime
So many mods I can't choose but I love your content :D
>2:03 "by someone speaking at way too low volume"
holy shit bruh you unlocked a memory I forgot about, THAT WAS ME LMAO
Lmao :D
You did good, but it was very quiet lmao
I also recommend: The Citizen, The Citizen Returns, Riot Act, Dangerous World, Rock 24, Ravenholm, Eye of the Storm, Silent Escape, and DayHard!
The workshop for Half Life 2 will be great for bringing overlooked single levels to light

I'd like to bring up the Necrophobia trilogy as well. Some really good atmosphere, genuinely kinda unsettling and even jumpscared me a couple times!
Stract was an exemplary Portal 2 mapper back in the day.
The furbine replacement mod is really good too, highly recommended

@@1lucia gonna let you cook 👨🍳
did you find a way to get mmod working? at 2:35 ish i saw a sprint anim from mmod. or is it just some old footage you have from pre-20 anniversary?
A lot of this video is either pre-anniversary or uses the EZ2 animation mod (also linked in description)
