A little suggestion: To avoid the modal changing to insert mode from edit mode because of the postdata() function, you can hide the modal after clicking the 'edit' button. I made this script - $('#action').click(function () { if ($('#action').val() == "Edit"){ $('#studentmodal').modal('hide'); } });
this is a very good tutorial ever i have seen. to much clarity i found here. but when i go to fetch data in modal then it will not return any response. in fact modal not gonna open. i checked developer mode in network tab response. it shows "this request has no response data available". why this message shows? hoping for your reply. thank you.

do you really need to use modal or can you make edit go to other page then edit from there?
