as a worship leader and a drummer, I can really appreciate this beautifully and worshipfully executed artistry on those drums, man. Thanks for your excellence. It's inspiring. I'm gonna use this video for a workshop for our drummers. Grace and peace to you, man! And thanks for smiling and singing along while you play!
The kit is a pearl Masters and the toms are 12" and 14". If you are not already, i suggest following him on twitter "rolfwamfjell". Its definitely worth making a twitter account just to hear some of the things he tweets about, different tips and tricks and practice advice. I've asked him 3-4 questions on twitter and he's always responded, Great drummer and a great guy.
wow! Thank you very much for posting this!! =D It's really helped me... normally I'm pretty good with just listening and picking up the parts, but I couldn't pick up the pre-chorus for my life... this has helped SOOO much!! God Bless! Keep up the amazing work =)
@emericaskater1313 This is Rolf Wam Fjell, one of the many drummers of Hillsong. I believe he's the senior drummer at Hillsong currently and plays in a lot of the LIVE albums. Besides him, there is Brandon Gillies, Simon Kobler, and Gabriel Kelly (all hillsong drummers).
@diegochangos The crash is a Dark K crash 17" I believe. Everything is A custom except the hi hat. I believe those are just old hi zildjian hi hats. The drumset is most likely a DW with remo heads. That's the closest you'll get to getting to know about this setup. Believe me, I've looked around like crazy to find out as well. The drummer did post up his EXACT drum configuration from years ago on his hillsong blog though.
The drum kits hillsong use on their live albums are pearl masters series. This kit right here Rolf (one of the drummers for hillsong) is a pearl master series kit. He is using a K crash and a A custom ride and not sure what kind of hi hats he is using.
@jawex Unless you have already heard of him. Check out Cobus, he is a christian and man can he drum like no other. In all of his video's it says "LAUS DEO SEMPER" which means "Praise always to God"
@NorsemanUK its a pearl masters... I think he said 12" and 14" toms in a tweet.. I asked him and he responded. Most definitely one of the best drummers and he's also a really great guy. If you guys have twitter, follow rolfwamfjell, He always has great tips and tricks.
@MrJohnshee Dont think thats DW, it doesnt have the circular lug attachments on the shell. I know hes been with both DW and Pearl but im guessing thats definitely Pearl,... either Masters or MMX.
try using an aquarian super-kick batter head, then put a pillow or a couple of towels inside if you want that punchy sound. also, make sure you get one of those bass drum slap pad things. remo makes them.
Cool thanks. I'm looking for something that I can both ride and crash on. I tried the A Zildjian Sweet Ride but it's far too washy. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks :)
it's not the bass drum, it's the mic, he does however probably have some sort of pillow inside of it to muffle it, but again it's the mic that makes it sound like that
i think they use a little auto tune. it's very common for profesional productions to use it. when most people hear the word auto tune, they think of the "robot"-like voice that pop music abuses today. however, most people don't realize that auto tune has been around since the 90's. the lead singer for blink 182 used it A LOT; he said so himself. you can kinda hear it when the voices are drawn out and sustained. i don't think its wrong to use auto tune. it's hard to be perfect live every time.

Good job. Is that a 18" bass drum?
What's the name of the snare you r using
Goood.....;D!
what kind of bass drum are youu using? i've wanted mine to sound like that for the longest lol.
Cool thanks. I'm looking for something that I can both ride and crash on. I tried the A Zildjian Sweet Ride but it's far too washy. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks :)
@tbickle86 looks to me like a 20" Zildjian A Custom Ride but i could be wrong
HOW DO I GET MY SNARE TO SOUNDS LIKE THAT???? DO I TIGHT IT MORE OR WHAT
Where do we find the full video? Not just particular angles
ya
@clonejutsu700 hillsong usually uses alot of gretsch and pearl kits but im not sure what kit he uses here XD
@jawex Thats a Beautiful saying.
it's not the bass drum, it's the mic, he does however probably have some sort of pillow inside of it to muffle it, but again it's the mic that makes it sound like that
Can anyone tell me what ride cymbal he is using?
Can anyone tell me Size, Brand, Heads, Cymbals, everything about this drum kit?
Really appreciate it, thanks.
this song is intense and kinda easy to learn and hard to play
@pearldrummerbrx
It's not... I heard him sing many times live already so don't argue with me... =.=
everytime they have a concert they're using a metronome?
@jakelown that's unfortunate D:

He's on my top 2 list of drummers for hillsong united

oh...my dreams are crushed lol jk
So... why are they using auto-tune ??
Lovely rendition of the song! Which album is this track from? I have almost all of their albums and I've never heard this rendition of the song.
You Deserve' from the Hillsong Worship album 'This Is Our God', released in July 2008
Is this a electric drum set?
Johnny Kim I don't think so. Looks like a real one.
A Custom
i should of watched this before putting my cover up....... makes mine look like poop!!!!!!!
but at the same time, the singers are talented enough not to need auto tune ;]
@pearldrummerbrx
its funny how we try to talk about the voice yet this is the drum part lol
my favorite drummers burn churches.......
Whats the BPM for this cover? I have been told anywhere from 150-160 and am not sure what to practice. Thanks!
Como le pesa la mano a este bro
