"And then the piano, beer, and songs; '2080's lyrics written quickly and messily on a sheet of paper; Lyn relaxing on her hammock; hands, glasses, and bottles clinking on the floor as if in response to the neighbors reprimands. A joyful hippie communion..."

"I'm so blessed to have spent that time with my family and the friends that I love.
In my short life, I have met so many people I deeply care for."
Amazing and deeply moving.
I don't think yeasayer realizes that these two takeaway videos are some of the best music videos ever made.
these people make amazing content with almost every band/musician they take on. they reveal the essence of each artist and lay it bare for us to view and listen in a completely open and naked setting. so vulnerable but still strong and powerful.
15 years later and I'm back here to say this is still the case.
12 years later and this remains one of my most beloved clips on the internet. Campaign to bring Yeasayer back.
I come back to this a few times each year just to remind myself I gotta live a little. This and their other video.
100% agreed
these guys are the meaning of cool.
that is just cool in every sense of the word.
biggest regret of my life, i wish i was there.
this is music at its most natural rawness. amazing video
I have a comment on here from 4 years ago...and I still come back to watch this sometimes. It always leaves me with a great feeling.
I'm quite certain that this is my favorite Takeaway show so far. The spontaneity & sheer fun the band is having just makes the video shine. :) Love it.
well if there's a little bit of heaven on youtube it was definitely this. i heart Yeasayer
I am so blessed to have found this video, watch intensely, and like it, playing on repeat I have been, so many artists I appreciate this for!
Same here, man. I'm kinda freaking out. Those harmonies in 'Red Cave' are just wrecking me.
man this is one of the greatest things i have ever seen! haha!
that was pretty awesome ; )
Thank you big brother for telling me about La Blagotheque and A Take Away Show 8 years ago.
That line put me to tears really...
they look like theyre having so much fun! i wish i was on that train!
Yeh, "LaBlogotheque" organize these take-away-shows only in Paris. im french, and th next time i'll come to paris, i'll seriously thinking about take th subway at night, thats for sure!
@cordell2311 agree. All Hours Cymbals was so awesome.
Looks so much fun!
farking yell.. that's something else.. phenomenal.. not sure why it has all of a sudden vanished from the blogotheque website though?? i have evil thought regards this.. wish i didn't.. this is something from another world..
hehe you pretty much nailed it
and also, a take-away-show is where bands like YEASAYER, Seasick Steve, etc. go out and play live on the streets
i can send you the link :)
Oh yeah thats realy fantastic go on guys :-))
Awesome! *-*
It really is talent when all you need is a spoon, a railing and your voices to sound good.
Genial, genial, genial!!!
best. ever.
hahah that would have been so cool to happen to be on that subway car when they got on
blackened skies I beg you weeEHEHEHEHEHEp.
@comeontigerlily it is we can drink were we like in my country you can even drink in hospital during your own operation
To me this sounds like...very talented young musicians, sick and bored and therefore making fun of the "the all-set post-modern society"
...are in search of the utter simplicity in music.
Very funny! Very to the point.
lablogotheque.(com?) or he has a dailymotion account too. He posts different videos everywhere on each site exclusively too sometimes
I agree, I would do it for free if I had a couple really really good shotgun mics and a nagra! :) These guys are awesome.
those people in the next car over look so jealous.
When I think of it that the main verse is the real name of a Velse village
Yeah I heard the song before I knew the meaning of the village name in english so when i learnt it I realised and it was like worlds colliding
never!
What's that lady in the back doing with headphones on?
I think it was less not wanting to do it, more being confused and questioning. I think you're construing it as worse than it actually was. Not to mention, Vincent himself obviously wasn't a big fan of the band before filming, so the whole atmosphere was probably less than perfect for convincing them to take the subway in a foreign city to a person's house they don't know while someone they've never met films them. You might be a little "pretentious" as well.
sooo drunk
This thing make me so joyful every time.. I hope they’ll never delete it and that I’ll be able to watch it again in 10 years, 20 years, 30 years...
6 years later and I still return to watch this all.the.time. Simply brilliant.
10 years later and I do too
@@silviarutland7624 Memories
Same. Still one of the best performances.
it's amazing.
12 years later and here I am still, pure magic
[Intro x2]
I went out, past the willow and the well
Caught my breath upon the hill
At the edge of the domain
And I went down, and fell down
And when I got up
I’m at the red cave
And without sound as if I had been put under a spell
She led me to her whirlpool
Warm despite a winter’s day
[Hook x8]
Mary’s house in the hollow of the white hazel
Rapid whirlpool
And the church of the red cave
[Outro x5]
I’m so blessed to have spent the time
With my family
And the friends I love
In my short life
I have met
So many people I deeply care for
Just found this 12 years later..
Better late than never, am I right? Guys you're amazing
Here we are, nearly 2022 and these gentlemen are still in my favorite acts - cheers from Belgium / Vermont USA
Breaks my heart that these guys called it quits. Amazing work
they are soooo incredibly inspiring.
man im not even gonna try to express how awesome that was
This video is an absolute treasure
take away show means that the artists don't just play at club or a concert hall but they take the shows with them. so they play in the subway or in a flat of a friend or something like this as you can see in the video. they also often use unusually things to perform their music which makes it even greater.
This is more metal than any other thing I’ve ever seen. Miss these talented guys terribly.
"i'm so blessed to have spent this time with my family and the friends i love,
in my short life i have met so many people i deeply care for"
this is so uplifting.
cant believe this videos as old as me that is crazy!! i’m so blessed to spent time with my family and the friends i love in my short life i have met so many people i deeply care for 😁
Who would thumbs down this video? How can you not smile
The world seemed simpler 15 years ago
I did. I dont know but I hope you're well friend
lead singer looks like Robb Stark
Who's still here in 2020?
Absolutely fantastic
I'm completely stunned.
This brings up the best of life!
This smile will last for another few hours i think :)
i love in my short life i have met so many people i deeply care for.
Loved it! See, seeing performances like these: pure, raw, and genuine, they're the best. I just love how they had a good time with it and how everyone was happy. Hell, made me smile. :) Thank you LaBlogotheque for EXISTING.
These guys are as cool as they are talented. And I don't think they even know how amazing they are.
When that guy slides down the stairway and the singer cracks up laughing ;D Love that ^^
What I would have done to be on that metro!
Awesome band.
the best la blogotheque video ever i think so
this is just beautiful!!
Hey Yeasayer fans! Check out this podcast interview the guys did at the Sasquatch music festival with host John Norris!
www.sasquatchpodcast.com/yeasayer-interview-at-the-pepsi-kola-house-at-sasquatch/
We're having fun in the metroooooooooo!
Fucken MAGICAL. Imagine being caught up in that.
Trapped in a carriage.. how intense would that be 😳🥴
@windowzombie no, i'm not saying that, of course a good voice is talent, i just mean being able to perform in such a situation isn't something anyone can do, regardless of their singing abilities, this is just ALL THE MORE proof of their talent and abilities as performers
if you got told at last minute that you had to call off every thing you were doing to do some stupid internet show you never heard of i think you would be pissed off, and the music belongs to them, they wrote it. when i wirte a song it's mine, my hard work and effort, my emotions and feeling.
okay this may sound really...ignorant, but I don't know what a take-away show is and what is a blagotheque? I take french, but I don't recognize the word. Like a library - bibliotheque? I don't live in a big city, but this makes me want to
man soo awesome now im not gonna hate on AC here but i have to say live yeasayer destroys animal collective and both yeasayer lablog vids were 10x better than AC but both bands are sick so who cares
Oh, so there still are bands that REALLY can sing a capella without causing any harm to the listeners. What a relief! But why are they so Jesus-like?
why don't the 'replies' get attached to the message you intended? fairly new to this whole youtube posting shyte but confused with that..
i love ira wolf tuton. i wish he'd reply to my valentine. and why be upset during the second blog ? eh ?
@raulesgrande other people were too....i guess it's allowable in france(probably most of europe in fact)
i HONESTLY love this video more than a lot of my favorite movies... seriously, it's pure magic
it"s surprising that thay apparently sing clearer than fleet foxes in their take away show...
I'd say the bassist. I didn't even know you could play like he does on a fretless.
so dope!!
this is so great ! yeasayer turned folk drinking on the subway, so much love
if this happened in phoenix someone wouldve ruined the video. i hate it here.
@divinati0n So being able to sing well doesn't equal talent? Since when?
I hope one day when im riding the subway, yeasayer will appear and sing red cave
Robb Stark is Alive!!
this makes the rest of what I've heard today sound like bullshit.
I cannot believe this was 15yrs ago
Next Yeasayer album should be all acoustic. Screw Odd Blood.
@divinati0n Whoops, I totally misread your comment, sorry!!
ahaha those people on the train love the shit out of them.
barrylmills, i don't think you realize how true that is...
very impressive concert attendance. all in Portland?
dont worry it wont
its infinite
Love this video
cctc11891 : Blog + bibliothèque = Blogothèque ...
I believe that more people need to watch this.
there's been a few in america i think..
a word for this band would be ¨fun¨
Ptain encore un super trip!!
Merci
i know! absolutely beautiful...
@stickydog480 Very well put.
dude!! its like a festival!!!
lucky people in that train!
Scrumdidlybloodyumptious!!!
