you guys were kinda under rocks, but not really lol. xg (7 member girl group) are coming up on their 1 year anniversary in march, these 4 are just the rap line. theyre all japanese, however they aim to be a global group and promote all over the world, so their music is completely in english. they have 2 singles so far (tippy toes & mascara) and another coming on the 25th of this month. all of the members are rapping in english, korean, and japanese, which all 7 members speak. jurin is the leader of the group, and maya (17) and cocona (17) are the youngest, being only 16 (cocona) and 17 when this was released. all girls in the group range from 2002-2005
I think you guys caught the most lines out of all the reactors that I've watched, so kudos for that!! Jurin was my favorite, but all the girls killed it. I am always amazed how everyone seems surprised that Japanese artists got bars, for real. Rap has been huge in Japan since the early 80's, yea they have been 'bout that style of music for almost as long as it has existed. It's a fun rabbit hole to jump into. Rap in Japan... It's a shame that people are so ignorant that whenever they see Asian people doing pop or rap they assume Korea long before there was a thing called K-Pop there was J-Pop, J-Rap, J-Metal, J-Rock as well as an EDM scene second to none! These young ladies are aged from 17 to 22 I believe, watch out K-Pop these ladies are putting the world on notice J-Pop is coming for you. Don't call it a comeback, they been here for years! (Japan's rap and pop scene, not XG, they are almost a year old as a group.)
Some older OGs in Korea Rap: CL and Hyuna (2NE1) and G Dragon, T.O.P. (Big Bang) and Jay Park had a good RnB vibe. I lived there for two years and these were some of the local favorites for classics still. Also the Korean music industry is actually known for “making” artists. Literally put them through boot camps to become great at their craft and the look that is desired for the intent of their brand. It’s actually kind of sad but extremely interesting and you can honestly only respect the artists for all their hard work because it really is a lot of work they put in. I reccommend looking into it.
