📢 E23 Has Fledged/Fludged!! - SWFL Nest M15, F23 & E23 (3/16)

- Watch from multiple angles as E23 takes his/her first flight!
This would technically be considered a "fludge" as it was an accidental fledge, but our mighty eaglet recovered like a pro, finding a tree to perch on nearby before returning to the nest tree.
I have to say - when we get to this stage, I really find myself so disappointed in the lack of ability for real-time info from the SWFL camp. Much like the other day when E23 disappeared from cam for some time, and viewers were rather nervous about where the eaglet ended up. It took at least 20-30 minutes for the cam crew to update the website as to E23's location, which could not be seen on cam. Then today, there was already a mild panic brewing as people scrambled to get updates once again. It is very challenging to get rapid updates from this nest. I continue to openly voice the fact that cams with chats (even if overwhelming) are the easiest to follow.
Another little pet peeve to express.... It has always bothered me that the papparazzi "live" here at the nest location. I understand it's on a main drag in a well-developed area, but the advertisement of their location so broadly just goes against most eagle-lovers basic tenets, and this is why. I also understand, as a wildlife photographer, that this is a super easy opportunity for remarkable photos and that pays the bills for some of these photogs. It's like "shooting fish in a barrel" - great pics, little effort. But I personally don't respect it.
Either way - peeves aside.... CONGRATULATIONS E23!!!!!!!!!

A lot of Eaglet's , fledge this way ...... I remember E-9 walking down the pasture driveway , like he/she owned the place !! The Parent's will guard and feed anywhere if need be !! 💯 🎉

Yep - "accidental" fledges are not uncommon & usually not a problem. This one went wonderfully, with a pretty quick and easy return to the nest. E23 has got this!

This one is adventurous than E22 but scary because younger they leave in the the chance of survival is slim compared the eaglets learn more first to their parents

Did E23 actually do a full fledge? As he/she was descending from branch to branch, when it got close to the ground you see another bird flying upward on the right.
This was considered an official (albeit accidental) fledge, yes.

Great job! Was very worried about so many people and traffic close. Was so thankful when he was back in the nest. 🙏. Had a fish and now needs a nap! 😴 ❤
When I got the notification of E23’s accidental fledge, I absolutely panicked cause I was concerned about her ability to fly high enough to get across and that the traffic has been horrific when it comes to the SWFL Eagles going across and almost hits from the traffic. I’m definitely relieved too that she made it back to the nest and I’m definite that the parent who was at the nest still after E23 flew away and was surly keeping an eye on her too. Still, it’s very scary and worrisome wondering if the Ewglets like E23 who is starting on everything earlier then most of the Eaglets from this nest in past years. I just hope she doesn’t fly to another area again until she is definitely sure and more confident then now to take another flight. Also. I also know what you’re saying about the day when no one could see E23 at the nest or anywhere and even I was panicking too and we do need better and if possible quicker info as to her whereabouts.
