    I’m 57 and got my test booked in two weeks time! Was my career choice at school but life isn’t always mapped out the way you want it to be , and ended up taking a completely different career path. I’m at a stage in life now whereby kids are independent and on successful career paths, don’t have the financial commitments that made change difficult so decided to go for it! Take a lot of inspiration from you guys that share your own experiences and certainly gained huge insight into what to expect!

    Took my class 1 at 55 years old having been in retail most of my working life. Spot on with maturity / experience. Companies want a bit of both . Attitude / reliability / willing to learn higher than driving ability in my experience. When you arrive as an agency driver the client hasn't a clue how well you can drive ( fortunately🤣)

    Not a dig but if you doing multiple pre placed cams, sort the jump cuts to be on point of movement, it’s hard to explain but there’s a delay ruining the effect I guess. Good vid though

    I passed my Class 1 just before my 54th birthday and just shy of 2 years on I've never felt more alive doing this job, it's awesome. I've never felt old so to speak but I find I have more get and go than ever. Agreed that maturity and a good driving record makes you more attractive to employers, I've found most agency clients seem to trust you right away when you can show basic common sense. I would say to anyone age is just a number, it doesn't matter. Just keep yourself fit, you don't need a gym etc, just walk the dog further or do something active, eat healthy, and you're pretty much laughing.

    Hey,
    I discovered your channel a few weeks back as well as some others on RUclips.
    I’ve been an owner of a coffee shop in Norway for the past 16 years & finally come to the conclusion I need a change. I have no idea why HGV driving appeals to me as it does but for me it’s one of the paths I’am seriously considering. I know it’s a long shot but do you know anything/ anyone or have any idea on how being a HGV driver is in Norway 🇳🇴/Oslo might compare to the UK?
    I understand & can speak Norwegian but the big challenge for me would be learning a new set of vocabulary in the trade 😂. That’s something I can overcome with a lot of study so I’ll have to put in some serious hours. This is why I thought I’d ask if you if you had any idea how things were here. My guess is you probably don’t but thought I’d reach out.
    Cheers Gary :-)

    • @truckitprayle
      @truckitprayle  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hey gary, yeah unfortunately i don't have much knowledge of that part of the world, all i do know is it can be a bit more challenging due to the winters you get there.
      As for the language barrier it doesn't stop most foreign drivers theres always google translate 😆

    • @garyanderton8099
      @garyanderton8099 7 месяцев назад +1

      Wow fast reply 🙏🏻.
      Yeah the winters can be brutal for driving. I’ve driven obviously quite a few times in it but a massive truck is another animal. Scary/ challenging but also a little exciting.
      Keep up the great work with your channel. It’s a fascinating listen & good luck with the future.
      Hey perhaps you’ll hear from me in a year or so having passed or failed. 🫣
      Cheers Gary 🇳🇴
