    This has always been my favorite Elder Scrolls game due to size alone. Having an entire continent of interesting landmarks and weird quests to do ate up so many years of my life. :P

      tsartomato Minecraft is smaller than Morrowind when you look at how much stuff you can do. morrowind has way more quests, items, freedom, and stuff to explore, whereas Minecraft has a boring combat system, around 5ish weapons, 8 different types of enemies, and ugly terrain. I would recommend morrowind any day compared to the game only defended by fanboys.

    Still the best Elder Scrolls game, and one of the greatest RPGs ever made. This is Bethesda in their prime. After this, they focused on appealing to a broader audience and started simplifying their games.

    it's so weird but Morrowwind had my favorite mechanic in all the ElderScrolls it's so subtle but I used to love it that is I sold a shopkeeper some gear better than what he was wearing he would should to equip it rather than sell it. I have no idea why I find it so enjoyable

    Pretty new to your channel (referred here by a few other channels I enjoy) and I have to say I really love your theme song! Morrowind is one of my favorite video games and I still go back and play it from time to time on PC, though I did originally play the xbox version. One of the best examples of a tried and true formula (classical fantasy rpg) being taken and put in a wonderfully alien setting. Walking through towering mushroom forests, being awed by seeing Vivec City for the first time before inevitably getting lost inside it, and braving the Mars-like hellscape of the red mountain all remain visceral memories, and that doesn't even touch on all the awesome random memories I have of doing stupid or hilarious things myself while playing the game. Cliff Racers can all go die in a fire though.

    Great review to a classic.
    I remember I played this when it first came out in 2002. I was absolutely enchanted by the world Bethesda had created. I grew up on Nintendo a little bit of Sony, so when my cousin introduced me to this, it was nothing short of amazing.
    It was so intimidating, yet so immersive and intriguing. I've never been able to capture that feeling with a game again, since.

    Morrowind is extremely rough around the edges but it was the first game I ever played that blew my mind. I remember as a 13 year old, dragging my TV and my Xbox down to my step-brother's room so we could both play beside one another. We'd play for hours, exploring different parts of the map and sharing information on where to find pieces of daedric armour, etc. The last time I had an experience like that with an RPG was Fallout 3... Sadly, I think RPGs have lost their sense of awe and mystery with me.
    Anyway, sweet review dude! Brings back a lot of positive memories for me, haha.

    • @TheRamblingRamReviews
      @TheRamblingRamReviews 8 лет назад

      +Rosa Rodriguez I've played all of those games beside Dragon Age which just doesn't appeal to me in the slightest. Of course the Souls games are some of my favourite games of all time and I should've mentioned those but they're not as much about exploration and interaction. They impress me in an entirely different way. Understand, back when this game came out, I'd NEVER seen anything like it. Nowadays you can't swing a dead cat without hitting an open world RPG and they're just not as impressive to me anymore. That's not to say they're awful or anything, just not as awesome as they once were. I may make a video on this topic soon because it's interesting but complicated to get into here.

      It's hard to say, they're vastly different games. It probably depends on what you liked about Skyrim. If you liked Skyrim for it's battle and leveling system, and voice-acting, probably not. If you liked the lore, the large open world, and the sense of exploration, you'll probably dig Morrowind. Many people in the Elder Scrolls fandom consider Morrowind the best of the series. :)

      well for starters, any bioware RPG, mainly mass effect and dragon age because those are the ones i played most (i have only played a little bit of star wars: knights of the old republic) for the most part they are good games (except for mass effect 3s ending, EA ruined that) i prefer mass effect but thats just because i prefer science fiction in general. in this revew you said that JRPGs are mostly about groups and western RPGs are more about one person, but for bioware games they focuse a lot on your companions in the games witch is nice because the companions in there games are always so good, you might start out one of there games not likeing one of the companiens but as the game goes on and you learn more about them your opinion of them could change

    What i really wanna know is about the Xbox port in particular. I already know the game is great but the real question for me is: Does the Xbox port provide a worthy version to experience the game for the first time? barring mods, does this port offer a nearly identical or at least "good enough" experience compared to vanilla PC?

    • @SuperDerek
      @SuperDerek  6 лет назад

      I'd say you can easily get a "good enough" experience. Morrowind for Xbox feels about as vanilla as you can get, including the aspect of running the game on hardware of the time, giving you a view of the game as it was originally released, complete with fog to help limit the viewable distance. Some aspects of the UI could have been updated better to suit a console experience, but it was serviceable. I recommend that you play on a very sharp TV using component cables, because details might be hard to discern otherwise.

    most of the more modern releases have simplified so much of the content, and that's not a bad thing but when I first played morrowind I was caught off guard by the amount of skills to chose, and what they all did. But after a few hours I loved it so much more than skyrim.

    I just finished this on series X, incredible! Game has no load times, no delays opening doors or any slow down. Xbox one it also plays really well, original Xbox I didn’t like it. I played a dark elf assassin archer and leveled up my magic like a mad rabbit until I could fly like the wind

    This game is still very good, and the lack of quality of life changes doesnt really bring this one down too much. Still very playable, and it seems to be the only Bethesda story that actually promotes you to slow down and side quest a little bit, instead of rush you on to the next main quest mission. I just played this game for my first time on the Xbox One X whenever it came to backwards compatibility and I already have fond memories with this game

    Wanted to get into this game but my character would just die during combat wit a rat. Oblivion was the where I was able to get into the Elders Scrolls series. Oblivion pretty much fixed everything I hated about the combat in Morrowwind. Then Skyrim took it to the next level. Would love if they would remastered this game.

    best game in the series with it's unique world, not sure how well it'd work on a console though

    • @SuperDerek
      @SuperDerek  8 лет назад +2

      +unassumption the answer to that: Barely. I mean, it worked, but between bugs, load times, and draw distance problems, not even taking into account the poor GUI for a console, the game had a lot of problems that needed fixing. Plus the benefit of mods can't be overstated.

    Is the Xbox version still worth playing? I either pick it up on the Xbox or I skip right to Oblivion

    • @SuperDerek
      @SuperDerek  8 лет назад

      I'd say so, but what you see is what you get. if the visuals in the review are a deal breaker, then probably not. however, I'd say that is still worth experiencing on the Xbox, especially if the pc version is a non starter for you.

    • @nintendokings

    • @SuperDerek
      @SuperDerek  8 лет назад

      +Tom Reimer Luckily I never encountered that problem in my playthrough. However, as you play the game longer, more things do get moved around, and the save file bloats up quite a bit, so load times do increase. I've heard that waiting in one spot for like, a week or two, will cause the issue to resolve itself.

    I've tried playing this game twice, also on Xbox, and I just can't get into it. I tried, but the dice roll combat just kills it for me. I enjoyed Oblivion and Skyrim a lot more. I'm hoping the Skywind mod will be finished soon.

    • @SuperDerek
      @SuperDerek  8 лет назад +1

      +Son of Tiamat For what it's worth, the dice roll combat gets a lot better when you realize your fatigue plays a HUGE role in your hit chances. And so does weapon skill. If you give it another go, I'd recommend choosing a main weapon first, then building a character that has as many points in that stat as you can. Then life will be easier. :)

    • @tsartomato
      @tsartomato 8 лет назад +1

      +Son of Tiamat yeah it's garbage but after couple of hours you overlevel everything so much that dices are always in your favour
