- Parents Mark and Holly Johnson attempted to give their three kids a surprise of a lifetime, but their children's reaction became the real shock. When they announced their family was going to Disney World for a week their expressions were priceless. Sam, 15, looks skeptical and Ava, 14, asks questions, but, Pete, 8, is seen in the video suddenly bawling into his hands. "It makes me a little sad to be honest. I feel bad for the youngest. He said they were going to their old childhood home. I moved when I was 9 and if someone told me we were going to our old house and neighborhood I would cry and react exactly the same if my parents said "aha nope". Can't help but relate to the kid

When this happened to my brother and I, we started crying because we thought it was a mean joke. I didn't believe it but I kept screaming "SHOW ME THE TICKETS!!!" They showed me the tickets, and I was happy. Ah, the life of an 8-year old
I'd honestly have the same reaction as them. Not that I'm unhappy were going on a trip, but more that the fact that my parents just sprung it on me.
I can't imagine if my parents told me " We're going to visit your cousins in your hometown ", and I would get so hyped up over getting to see my cousins that I normally only see like twice a year, and I would pack all the things I would and get stuff I would want to show them. Then after like an hour into the car, they suddenly say " Surprise !! We're not going to see your cousins in your hometown !! In fact, we're taking the plane to go to Disneyland " I would be devastated and disappointed because I didn't pack the right things for Disneyland and that I wouldn't get to see my cousins.
My parents actually did this once to me but it was to Legoland, I was supposed to attend some school event that I was excited for and midway to my school my parents suddenly told me we were going to Legoland. I was so confused but I had fun tho.

I had this reaction when I was 6 being told we were going to Disney, I didn’t know what Disney was and didn’t want to go but after we went it was really fun
HAHAHAH my siblings and I did the same exact thing when we were younger, and I feel kinda bad (we did have a great time though). To be fair, my parents said that we would never go to Disney World like a few days before we left, and it was 3am when they told us. I also thought it was a prank, and I was excited to go to my grandparents house.
I'd probably have a similar reaction because I don't like being surprised. Also, two out of the three seemed too old to really care about a surprise Disney trip. I mean yeah it's fun when you get there, but pre-teens aren't known for showing much excitement over stuff.

Honestly, i dont think you have to win a parent card by taking your kid to disney. Ive never been cuz we were too poor. And ive never been so what. My birth parents left me and my twin and my younger sister behind, me and my twin when we were just born and my grandparents adopted her a year or so later when she was born and i got foster parents who eventually became to be known as my mom and dad. I think by just being my parent and feeding me and taking care of me and because i was a very sick baby, i think they won the token the minute they stepped into my life. And the doctors said i might not even live. I am almost twenty years old. yeah i still live with the effects of why i was sick and i have to go to so many doctors appointments and i get sick alot, but they took care of me until i was able to take care of myself. im living on my own. They also said i wouldnt walk, run, jump, or even hop. And i was one of the fastest girls on my track team in middle school. So like i said. I dont need vacations to win the parent card. i have so much to thank them for already.

I remember when my dad and stepmom told me and my stepbrother that we'd be going to Disneyland Paris I started crying and he was just in shock. We were 15 and 17 at the time (me being the youngest) and they did it really creatively. We both got a card and inside was a party invite. The party being a trip to Disney. Honestly it was amazing. I mean sure 10 people my age, 5 of whom I know witnessed me crying but I told everyone about the trip the next day so they didn't say anything to me.

I mean if I was told I was leaving for Disney right then, I would be excited, but also very worried. I wouldn’t want my parents to forget anything, especially since I’m pretty specific about what I pack. Just surprise them like a week before so it’s still a big surprise but then they have time to pack and plan what they want to do.

My parents never took us, and Disneyland was only a 7 hour drive away. Lame. We were well off.
They were into being frugal, born during the Depression, to be fair. They never got over being poor & starving as children.
Nothing like going your first time as an adult, though, and feeling silly.
I still had fun. Disney World is on my bucket list.

If anything I think it shows that they were content with their lives as they were. Either way they ended enjoying themselves despite their initial disappointment. Surely there's harm in that :)
I’ve been to Disney World many times. My parents got a timeshare when they got married in 2001. I am so grateful to be able to go to Disney World very often. I love my parents!
