My partner is allergic to cats quite badly and we have 2 Siberian cats and she is absolutely fine, no symptoms at all with either of them! They rarely shed as well which is good, but all round good experience!!

Allergies effect everyone differently, so Idk what level of severe James is when you say severe haha. For me when I'm around cats I get hives, itchy watery eyes, and can't stop sneezing. As long as I take allergy medicine every day and wash my hands after petting them I don't have those same reactions. I also got rid of all of the rugs in my house (minus small throw rugs) and that helps a lot.
oh that’s pretty bad!! james also gets watery eyes and relentless sneezing but without the hives 😅 he sometimes takes allergy meds but it works 50% of the time for him - maybe because he uses it on an ad hoc basis? regardless we’re gonna stock up on some allergy meds before we get a kitty 😂

I've heard good things about Allerpet! It's kind of like a shampoo you can use on your cat every few weeks to reduce dander. I have it for my cat, because my boyfriend is allergic, and I think it helps. (I'm not allergic so it's hard for me to tell any difference haha)
Hey girl , for the cat thing - there’s a shot he can take that will take away his allergy. I know I was surprised too when I learned about it. You can just Google it up or check in with your medical provider

My boyfriend is also allergic to cats and I grew hope with a cat and I love them so much 😭😭 so we are also considering a Siberian! I wish I could adopt one tho, I really don’t agree with buying pets unless it’s for a health matter.

I don’t think there’s anything you can do to help a cat allergy, its really just if he wants to deal with or not 😅 for me, it also induced asthma symptoms so I would eventually die after months long exposure to a cat just from my airways getting more and more swollen lol I’ve tried twice, and the only thing I can do now is sleepover for a weekend at friends’ places with cats. other than that, anything long term is pretty miserable.
