As someone learning EMC/SI design I’d also like to add that it is not uncommon and even recommended to not just terminate with a resistor at the end, instead have 2 resistors and a capacitor in parallel to ground.
itsokay, dont feel depressed. happens to everyone at some point. engineering is like this, part of the job. hold your breath and go back to the basics. everything will start making sense eventually. keep at it and best of luck .

What is the difference between LVDS with flat cable and LVDS with coaxial? Does the idea of a physical layer apply to both?
