I had a similar USB cranking generator shaped just like that. It broke after 10 minute of cranking total. I probably generated a few watt hour out of it before it became a waste.
Excellent video! The this thing is crap, nobody should buy it. An honest video like this can inform people in time. I am working on a video featuring the same one.
This "thing" can only produce a max of 0.5 Watts. Yes guys. 0.5 watts! You cannot produce even 5 watts (which is the lowest of typical handcrank-generators i have seen so far) with this tiny motor. This thing can only produce 5 Volts with less than 0.1 A (max. is 0.09A i assume, which equals to ~90 mA per hour, so you will only get around 1.5 mA per MINUTE of charging). So you CANNOT charge your PHONE with it if you have the USB-meter plugged in as well! Because our USB-meter eats up that energy (remember guys, a single LED to power up allready costs like 10 mA/hour and this is small cheapo-cheapo power-hungry screen here, so yeah it will easily consume 50 mA/hour)! This USB-meter is one of he cheapest and easily can eat up 0.25 watts alone! Which is (because i have such an USB-meter as well) why i power my solar-equipment with this not combined to the solar-panels directly. Instead i give it a battery-box so it doesn´t eat up my solar-power. Because a consumption of 0.25 watts/hour equals 2.5 watts in just 10 hours! So yeah. Forget about this crap thing here. For comparison: I bought a GOOD hand-crank device (100$) which can easily handle 30-40 watts/hour! that´s about 0.5 watts in 1 MINUTE! So this is nearly ~100 times more powerful than this thing here. These are the numbers. I can produce 10V with 3000 mAh/hour (10V at 3A) with this hand-crank device. Which equals 30 Watts. And this is AFTER losses! So the losses are allready included here. Which equals 5V at roughly 5000-6000 mAh/hour of charging-performance. With this power you can charge a small powerbank (10000mAh) about half per hour.
The characteristics depend on your needs. Input energy and output wattage are key. You have to know the output required first. Then the input energy is determined by the efficiency of the generator.
I bought one abd just recieved it today..it don't work at all..was thinking of using it as a mini back up charger for my min radios and handheld.. but nope..it's just crap..just like the guy showed in the video. I too tried the usb tester on it as well and the tester recorded no juice or data at all from the crank usb charger.
I've got a video about using these little motors for generators. They are very inefficient. If you spin them really fast the poor quality brushes won't stay in contact with the commutator, they start bouncing away, arcing.

I suspect that the generator is good, but you need to be in good physical condition
What does it mean that we saw some value for volt but no amp
The amps are too low for this to measure. I'd have to use a more sensitive meter.
I like these videos. Very inspiring~
Can i charge a power bank with it then use it to charge my iphone x 😅?
Sure, if you use your phone once a year and spend the rest of the time cranking! ;)
@@tsbrownie I meant at least a little bit , the power bank ?
Most likely not

Hello, can you please provide me the característics of generator I need it for a proyect

Would have liked to see a drill crank the generator. Remove and bypass the gears and measure the amps & volts driven by a drill.

@@tsbrownie thats why its better to have brushless ones
Yes, but I bet it can charge a Nokia 3310 with just one complete revolution! 👍🏻
thank you
You're welcome.
Put an electric drill on it. 😉😹
You mean to strip the gears even faster? ;)

"error when you crank it" Yes, that's what the video is about.
