Sometimes your more relaxed wallowing out hungover I’ve done it at 6 plus snapper and I swear I got out better I have a soft spot for all surfers who maraud out there on it or hungover Ross Clarke jones Jeff Hakeman riding the lightning hahaha
this channel above all others has inspired me to accelerate my improvement over the last 14 months of regular surfing. most notably the abillity to paddle out like sea monster, Nathan! 🤙🏼 congratulations on an Award well deserved as you do so much for the surf Fam. Mahalo Nathan, Mahina, Ivan and Florence family 🕊 be Blessed
Not a lot of surfers have paddled this, maybe half a dozen and no one comes back so well done you guys! Have no idea how you pulled that off on the first wipeout. Witchcraft obviously.
I had to pause that first wipe out and go frame by frame. I love surfing, love barrels and of course wipe outs. Can’t get sick of a good picture, just like the old days when we had the surfing mags. Epic session as usual. So cool to see the whole thing from the rock dance to the shore and the coming back. Thanks for the entertainment.
ty nathan and friends, love the pov action! you tapped in to what the viewers love to see. you get better each day. i am worthless wen im hungover, so hard to function. thats even worse wen older. great you young studs. take life and live full!!!
Hi Nate, That murky water Slab looks scary! 😳 Glad to see Ivan was there with you.👍 Happy you both survived...😂 You guys have fun, thanks for sharing your hang- over video.😄 CAN'T wait for your Next Adventure, be safe guys !!😂🤙🌊
I love how brothers supporting brothers raise everyone's level so high, just look at Ridge Lenny, Ivan, Koa (Rothman and Smith) and so many others bringing them closer and pleasing their parents and everyone that watches, brother love! God bless you boys
Bro that 1st wipe out was insane and looked like your neck snapped back at the last second. And how fast you got out the back of it f’ing record time 😂🤘🤘🤘so sick watching these battles 🤘✌️
Completey tore up my left knee in 2018. Coming in on a big day at a local CenCal reef. Got my left foot caught in a hole. Then knocked over by a six foot wall of white water.. "Pop".
You're a lucky man to have a faithful brother who paddles out with you regardless of the size and conditions. Extra points since he's not a nag... which would ruin a surf trip. And best of all, he's a talented charger. I hope Ivan travels with you more often. Always great to see the Florence brothers ripping. Whose idea was it to not wear booties since there were so many barnacles and some sea urchins and it was your first time to paddle out at this spot? Hmmm... maybe more coffee and less tequila?
I grew up as a teenager in the 70's. Kneeboarding was cool back then. Short boards, waves that nobody back then would touch. Roots watching Nathan! Riding a 5' 2" bat tailed twin in 1978. Part of an old long board.
circular motion with that toothbrush brother till the day you die. you gonna file all the enamel off those pearly choppers with the 'saw' action. that's all the orthodontic advisories i got for today. thanks for the sesh nate!
Wave 1 Nate and Ivan 0. 😂. I definitely know that the average viewer doesn’t grasp how technical this is. Surfing close outs and getting pounded for yrs has these boys making it look easy and then not. The average surfer couldn’t even get outside. You boys are savages. Mad respect gentlemen. 🙌🙌🙌🙏🏻
Everything about that session was gnarly - the paddle out, the takeoffs, the brown water, and the paddle in. I'll bet it cured the hangover. Be careful.
Pretty horrendous paddle out and in at a break you have never surfed before, yet you and Ivan made it seem like just an annoyance, amazing skill level you guys have.
You guys are so fortunate you get to wake up and go surfing I woke up when in my kitchen make coffee in my light switch in my kitchen caught on fire I was able to make coffee though in the dark LOL so just know sometimes what you have is really a lot better than everybody else I know you know that already
I really love to watch any clip of this spot. You should go when it's really pumping. When this spot is all time, nothing comes close in Europe in my opinion. And the bodyboarders pioneered it again haha
Anyone who has ever done a surf trip knows how this feels. Always used to happen to us on the morning surf of day 2 of any surf trip... Lots of rethinking of the actions taken the night before happens on those paddle outs.
Never forget the lesson taught by Dan Osman. Keep testing the limit and eventually you die. That is just a fact. Let your bravery adapt. Bravery doesn't mean that you have to kill yourself doing extreme sports.
Some waves, at some spots...the water sucks out so hard, it's nearly impossible to paddle into them - unless you get that perfect position, on a perfect wave - particularly standup surfing. Sometimes, having a set of good surfing/swim fins on, can push you down, underneath those ledges. Bodyboards love that kind of spot. With some discernment, and wave judgement - the same can be said of kneeboards, as well. Either can raise your 'win' percentage, at a tricky spot, like that one.
Nate, how can you take those slabs on the head and not sink? Are you made out of cork or what? 😂 😂 Great surfing bro, seeing Ivan there is rad and keep showing our dreams turn into reality and taking us along for the ride! 🏄 😎
I remember surfing at soup bowls after my birthday celebration the night before and a lot of rum was drank. Let’s just say the ocean one big that day 😂
Hi Nathan, how do you protect your ears and eardrum from bursting or getting infections ? My ear rings a bit and hurts when I get pulled down too fast too deep in heavier surf and wipeouts. Thanks !
@@NathanFlorenceSurfer's ear is real. Probably a good idea to wear earplugs if you are surfing more in cooler water and cool windy air conditions. I am trying to be more careful about this now as the surgery is apparently no fun. Though I hate all the plugs I've tried...
hangover paddle outs will make you rethink life
But they are also the best cure…
😂 so true
Rethink drinking for sure. Worse when it's above 6 ft... 🤢🤮
With a side of clamp fest 😂love the brothers! Reminds me of my bro and i getting pounded
Sometimes your more relaxed wallowing out hungover I’ve done it at 6 plus snapper and I swear I got out better
I have a soft spot for all surfers who maraud out there on it or hungover Ross Clarke jones Jeff Hakeman riding the lightning hahaha
Bro Ivan must never leave from this project, keep Mr. Cool forever and give him a gopro. Sick to see you both
Fk yeah ivan rips!
200x Agree with that !! Mr cool is THE ONE WHO WILL SAVE YOU TO PADDLE OUT INTO INSANITY ✅♥️ YOU'VE GOT TO GET HIM EVERYWHERE YOU GO NATH 🛟 !
yes! get him a gopro!

Excited to come back and try on a good day! I could see the potential! Think i could backdoor a big one on the right day
@ you'll freak out on a good day. Backdooring a big perfect one would be epic, I'm sure you can pull that off!
@helioantonio Grace of God!
You guys dont stop... Get an award, get wrecked, get barreled. Inspired
Haha the tour must continue at all cost
I love the way you analyze, strategize, and implement your vast knowledge of waves to figure any break out and then rip it

Love these videos that actually show the effort just getting to the peak. Much better than any polished surf flicks at the mo.

Hope Ivan comes on more slab missions with you!
Best little bro a maniac like Nathan could ask for and a hard charger in his own right…and casual style is second to none
So good having him along this year!
I love how brothers supporting brothers raise everyone's level so high, just look at Ridge Lenny, Ivan, Koa (Rothman and Smith) and so many others bringing them closer and pleasing their parents and everyone that watches, brother love! God bless you boys
The first wave after a hangover is the warm-up wave for sure. Nate, you're the slab juggernaut 💪
the real cowboys of surfing los hermanos Florence, saludos del surf krew de Ecuador.

Hey Boyz
Congratulations Nathan on The Award!!, well deserved!! Very Proud
Sooo happy you dropped this video
Let’s Get Barreled
Love the fact you show the clambering hassle involved just to get to these spots, 100 opportunities to break your ankles or knees 😂😂😂
Completey tore up my left knee in 2018. Coming in on a big day at a local CenCal reef. Got my left foot caught in a hole. Then knocked over by a six foot wall of white water.. "Pop".
@ fractured my ankle coming in same spot twice 😂
You gentlemen live in another world. Thank you for taking us along
Good to see you FINALLY bring Ivan to a left slab so he can get barreled!!!! He got pitted on the second sesh!!!
You're a lucky man to have a faithful brother who paddles out with you regardless of the size and conditions. Extra points since he's not a nag... which would ruin a surf trip. I can't believe you did that paddle out hungover. You're a beast.
The Bro Tour is awesome 🤙🤙
Thank you Nathan for being the avatar of us online surfers, the jaw camera perspective is the coolest & most realistic . . .
I grew up as a teenager in the 70's. Kneeboarding was cool back then. Short boards, waves that nobody back then would touch. Roots watching Nathan! Riding a 5' 2" bat tailed twin in 1978. Part of an old long board.

Not many people could make that launch or wave. Most excellent to watch!
Jeeze, you guys are gnarly! John has put together a stellar team!
The dedication to the mouth cam with the hangover paddle is nuts
Everything about that session was gnarly - the paddle out, the takeoffs, the brown water, and the paddle in. I'll bet it cured the hangover. Be careful.
That was a nasty freaking paddle out. And even worse coming in, as I know from experience. Props to you guys.
Pretty horrendous paddle out and in at a break you have never surfed before, yet you and Ivan made it seem like just an annoyance, amazing skill level you guys have.
heavy stuff, sick vid Nate.
You guys are so fortunate you get to wake up and go surfing I woke up when in my kitchen make coffee in my light switch in my kitchen caught on fire I was able to make coffee though in the dark LOL so just know sometimes what you have is really a lot better than everybody else I know you know that already
So it looks like your walk out is almost as bad as my kitchen fire LOL
Sketchy paddle out. Always impressive the waves you guys get.
I really love to watch any clip of this spot. You should go when it's really pumping. When this spot is all time, nothing comes close in Europe in my opinion. And the bodyboarders pioneered it again haha
that wiepout on the first wave, anyone else is dead
Nah pindrop like Nathan you’ll be sweet
It's crazy how easy he makes that look
There was a nasty one diving head first and it looked like the legs were getting flipped over, falling in a barrel. F that 😄
Ivan was killing it
Nate and Ivan riding some green water shivers, they both got worked just like their livers 🍺
Nothing like a Portuguese hangover. Gotta love it.
Slab Tour going to need a signature helmet! Keep Mr. Cool in as many vids as possible.
"A Frisky Slab after cleaning up at the Awards" Next Level Gudna.😃 👍🏻🎄✨🌌
"See a little wave like that" Classic Nathan.
surfer of the year big nathan🎉
Anyone who has ever done a surf trip knows how this feels. Always used to happen to us on the morning surf of day 2 of any surf trip... Lots of rethinking of the actions taken the night before happens on those paddle outs.
Brown town was looking pretty rocky. Teamwork makes the dream work.
As usual the thumbnail got me. Never disappointed. Ta
the way this wave spits nearly everytime is sick
1:16 sensible, relevant, and GENTLE plug 🤑✊
thanks for showing the gopro footage of that amazing escape at 7:54 . surely its rare to get blown out the back so quickly like that?
W0W! i can't believe you actually drank that much TEQUILA!!? Ha! Thanx for posting!
Get him a body bag! And I’m already subscribed for the journey.
Perfect video dude. Keep it up.
So much better than edits.
Also u seriously have some balls on you😂🤝
Got to say that was a good backhand reo but I was impressed with Ivan second session tube riding I think he got the better of ya haha
Muhaha, seeing Nate doing DUI, then camera pan to Ivan completely devastated 😂, haha
Great experience! Time for Pipe dude!
every one of your videos is gnarlier than the last
Wow this is wild. I admire you guys
Ivan Chopper Florence must always be on your channel. Ripper
Never forget the lesson taught by Dan Osman. Keep testing the limit and eventually you die. That is just a fact. Let your bravery adapt. Bravery doesn't mean that you have to kill yourself doing extreme sports.
Love your commitment!
Ivan for the win!
Yeah it’s cool that you got Ivan for backup now.
Lol that just looked nasty from the get go. Mucky water, awkward rocks covered in barneys and spikeys. Great show from where I'm sitting though 😂
Nothing like having a buddy to paddle in at/ out at @ a sketchy spot!
Glad to see you scoring this wave! The rocks with cuts and squared holes are old lobster farms 🦞
Nathan and Chumbo going shot for shot sounds dangerous
Clicked because of the big night out prior. How I feel paddling out in 3-4 ft cali on Sunday am😂😂😂😂
the anxiety level on this video is something else 😅
Some waves, at some spots...the water sucks out so hard, it's nearly impossible to paddle into them - unless you get that perfect position, on a perfect wave - particularly standup surfing.

Love the adventure. Never know what you cats are gonna sniff out next. Yeow!!!!!
Ya nate on another level
I don’t think that one at 11:10 could have been worse, especially since the board flipped fins up holy crap
Those rocks and kelp look tough to deal with! You make it look not too bad though
Nate, how can you take those slabs on the head and not sink? Are you made out of cork or what? 😂 😂 Great surfing bro, seeing Ivan there is rad and keep showing our dreams turn into reality and taking us along for the ride! 🏄 😎
Looking like a big rock wave! Aloha
There is a built harbor mouth just out of frame that makes the paddle out to this spot really easy. Just fyi
That is Matt Johnson, that is Matt Johnson 🤩
Thanks for saying it. I was looking for this comment. Can I borrow your board?
I remember surfing at soup bowls after my birthday celebration the night before and a lot of rum was drank. Let’s just say the ocean one big that day 😂
1:33 legit bangin tunes
Ivan won that exchange!!
legend
Sketchy gettin in, sketchy gettin out, and a sketchy wave..
JFC THATS SO GNARLY
Ivan looks so wrecked in the car hahahahahaha
Most impressive thing about this video was not the wave - it was the exit - unreal
How long were you out there for?
How gassed are you generally after a paddle out? I feel shattered breaking through even the smallest waves
Any slab tour merch at the store in Haleiwa? 🚩
I thought the paddle OUT was bad .
Coming in was sketchy.
Watching the guys scramble from my chair here . . .
New paddle out never surfed here before. I don't think anyone has surfed there before haha
in arica chile there is a slab rigth called rancid horn ....very similar ...hope to see you in northern chile ...slabby bodyboarding land
Hope i can surf it one day!!
as raw as it gets
You can see Ivan is either the one who drinks less or the one that holds it better 😂
Haha he is sober, so definitely feeling better then i was
@NathanFlorence Fair, respect for sending It none the less and good job on your award Nathan, totally deserved!!!
You always seem to find hollow overhead surf wherever you go!
2:59 Guess that's where that spot gets its name from 👀🏯 Also "Frisky" would be the last adjective I'd use there 😅😬
You guys make a killer team
Looks like ancient fish tanks, the weird structure at the beginning 🤓
Alright guys, North Shore is firing. Time to come home.
think Ivan took this one after looking very risk adverse at first :)
7:40 I was expecting to see broken everything , instead , Nathan calmly paddling back out, how?
Hi Nathan, how do you protect your ears and eardrum from bursting or getting infections ?
My ear rings a bit and hurts when I get pulled down too fast too deep in heavier surf and wipeouts.
Thanks !
Hmmm my ears ring at random times of day, but for most part are healthy and rarely get infected
@@NathanFlorenceSurfer's ear is real. Probably a good idea to wear earplugs if you are surfing more in cooler water and cool windy air conditions. I am trying to be more careful about this now as the surgery is apparently no fun. Though I hate all the plugs I've tried...
