Thank you for uploading this playlist. I've been frustrated with the slow pace of university and all the mandatory work that fails to solidify info the way I'd like. I have a deep existential drive to bring all the fields of science together to help change the future of humanity. So I'm experimenting with taking a semester off Uni to spend every day learning things online, they way I usually study outside of class anyway. I'm stepping into many new fields and working on my own projects, instead of following instructions. If someone replies to this in a few months or so and asks I'll give an update on how it's gone!
@@bruthayoshi2111 Phenomenal. But decided to return to university. I became so frustrated by not knowing what atoms are that I ended up spending almost all of my study time devoted to quantum mechanics in hopes to answer that question. I came away partially successful. But I feel like I am 10x the student I was before I made this commitment to learning. I actually got this notification while studying for my materials science class at uni. Thanks for asking :)
I'm a 3D designer and i usually develop my own materials for Render Engines (Redshift). It is incredibly interesting for me to know the WHY behind all the properties i play around with. For example how exactly does roughness work and affects the material's reflecitve abilities, what's the amount of subsurface scattering in plastic, wax, etc. Transmission, refraction, IOR, etc. Thank you for uploading this. It was the best source of information i've found in the web for materials science.
Teacher: We're gonna teach this course remotely and it's fine. Also teacher: If we were in the classrom I'd be giving away free chocolate and we would be performing experiments on chocolate!
@@TaylorSparks I live in Nairobi, Kenya, so it'd be a darn long swim! Seriously though I'm very excited that you made this course widely available! I also used to be faculty at Georgia Tech before starting a solar agro processing startup in Kenya. We have a dozen different materials in our product: pressure cast aluminium, aluminium sheet metal, mild steel, stainless steel, hot-rolled steel, cold-rolled steel, polycarbonate, rubber, with all their different design and quality requirements. I'm an electrical engineer and we have an amazing mechanical engineer, but I can't follow a word he's saying. Not to mention when we start talking with vendors! I'm super excited to get at least a basic understanding from your course!
@@athul_c1375 lol. I actually started putting these up on RUclips in 2016. But I got serious about it during covid as you can tell the quality got a lot better and I also broke it up into little chunks instead of big hour-long lectures.

So glad to hear it! Check out our podcast too
How is it brother??

How are you doing?
@@tannerwayman2094 Doing research in a quantum materials lab on top of my undergrad!
somewhere in this middle zone, they got real creative with the name and said 'these are semi-conductors, they kind-of conduct electricity' 😂

I love it. Good luck learning!

Lololol. I'm teaching it again in person this fall! Come get some chocolate on the first day of class in Salt Lake City 😂🍫

Using chocolate to introduce/tease phase diagrams is a great idea :D
Makes it fun and interesting
Are you telling me that COVID has resulted in us not getting free chocolate?
Oof. It's true. Brutal true. Tell you what though, if anybody dares, I will still prepare some tempered chocolate and bring it to school.
@@TaylorSparks should I thank COVID for giving this class for anyone around the globe for gree

Regarding this 'Re-W-C system' mentions in the first link... Is this a material that will be mentsion later?
Important subject.
