When you see that the tree is hollow at the bottom, when you fell it, start cutting it from the top, where there is no humus, which will spread the saw very quickly... leave the thicker ones for the end because they will surely break the chain :D greetings friends from Serbia

I got mine second hand for a pretty good price and have never regretted it. Before I had the dumper I remember loading up that trailer and thinking "the job is only 1/2 done!" ... hang in brother!

Yes, I did put two pics of the tree on IG. I'm new at uploading GoPro video to I.G. so I'll have to watch a RUclips video so I can get the videos uploaded. Of course, the camera wasn't in record mode when I dropped the biggest limb LOL.@@metaspencer

Ah yeah I never was taught solo climbing, and did my first tight removal, where I had to rig solo. Learned a trick or two from you. Thankyou. I was just hanging everything and piecing it out. Don't think I could have lowered anything huge but that is definitely going in the back pocket.
Climbed with my line in my backpack too to keep from getting stuck up there. I guess I could always rappel off a rigging line if needed.

Your ground crew is really slacking, Spencer. Can you not incentivize them into some level of acceptable performance? LOL As always, your work and vid is top notch. Keep it up!

Enjoyed the video. Nice one-man rigging operation. I do a bit of solo rigging from time to time. I like it as no worries on ground mistakes. But, it an be dangerous for sure. That was a shaky tree with that much trunk hollowed out. I use ropes for back up 90% of the time Ropes save the day. Merry Christmas!

I’ve been eye balling mini-skids since your first video with the smaller skid. I’m excited for the review of the new one. I do have a question, how do you get it back? Just make another trip to pick it up once the trailer is empty again or do you have some transportation trick?
The transportation is the biggest bummer -- there is almost always a final trip for the machine and when the jobs are a long way away it's pretty time consuming. What I try to do, ideally, is 1/2 load the trailer at the end of the job and squeeze the machine in there, but that seldom works out. So sometimes I'll even leave the machine behind, lift manually, just to save the trip. Doh! It's kinda crazy

Some people see hollow, rotten logs. I see premade flower pots. If that was my mansy-own, I would fill that stump with plants.

The cloggers were a birthday gift from my lady -- wow was I lucky! And now I'm always worried about melting them or ripping them up. My most cherished possession for sure is that pair of pants. haha ... As for boots: I've got hella wide feet and find these Asolos will last me a few years with some shoe goo once in a while. amzn.to/41rrl2u
First vlog I have watched on your channel and defo worth a sub great hollowness going on in the tree and loved the way the stick flexed when hitting the ground also loved the retro 020T filter cover on your 200T but great vlog boss from little old U.K. 😊😊
YOu've got a good eye noticing that cover on the 200t! I've got a good buddy who rebuilds the saws and he kinda frankensteined that saw together, but dang it runs good!
Great work, oak branches are extremely heavy and hard to gauge from the ground. 2 ropes down is that a new record? Super sketch hinge wood but the yellow devil came through. I'm not sure if you have done an explanation of how you self rig in your videos using the reduce figure 8. Merry Christmas

Every time I watch your videos I am always impressed. it makes me nervous that you do it all alone but hey, I can't say I haven't thought about going at it alone. I'm 4 years into my career as a tree climber, and I wish I got to climb more, my company mainly uses bucket trucks and bids out of jobs where you would need a climber, for me it's so frustrating cause I get paid more for climbing. I got hired to be the company climber but I hardly ever get to do it. part of me wants to struggle more with nothing but climbing equipment and a trailer out on my own cause I know how much money I could make, but it's also my life on the line. I'm only 27 and I'm not gonna say I don't make some small mistakes sometimes. I'm only a wee human. I get paid 21 an hour and my company has basically made it clear that that's the maximum amount of pay for this next year for me, my boss is never on site and, I'm training all these guys, and more than half could care less about the job or being good at it. I wish I could say I wasn't getting burnt out and discouraged compared to 3 years ago when I started climbing I felt nothing but potential and growth for myself. I appreciate your channel cause it does inspire me to break away from the big company and try it out on my own. I'm gonna wait one more year and gather more experience under my belt before I get too impatient and leave. I guess I just wish I was still in love with the job like I used to be. it feels like a JOB now when before it felt like a passion. I have had a small taste in doing some small jobs on my own but I know better when it comes to getting in way over my head and skill level. Thank you, and sorry for the rant. I appreciate your videos and look forward to seeing your next oversized puzzle :)
hey buddy, it's super interesting to hear about your experiences! there are always pros-and-cons with every job and there is so much to running a small business that never shows up in videos like mine (or the other ones you see on the site). With that said, running my own show works for me and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Life is full of great and useful experiences and sometimes deadend jobs are part of that ... sounds like you've come a long way so far, that's for sure!

yeah it moved on to a guy who does deliveries in the area ... I liked some things about it but didn't use it as much as I'd have liked to
Can you do a video of why you still run a truck and dump trailer, instead of buying a chipper and chip truck. I’m still running truck and dump trailer, and in debate of if I should get a chipper and chip truck
Oh boy, now that would be a video that would get some HEAT from the chipper folks. But I'm tempted to do it for a bunch of reasons ... Okay, I'll try to put something together and thanks for the tip!

Indeed they do. I can't believe you lost 2 good ropes on this job. That sucks! I would probably tie them together, and use them for pull ropes in the future.
Get the solo thing just think limits you on some trees. And ya knowledge to a young guy or girl be great. Cheers

Yeah I've just been using it for a few months now -- heavier than my other one and more lifting power. it's been working out pretty well

At 9:49 in your video you cut a hinge and you cut right through it that could have went really bad for you
I cut through all those hinges to accelerate the butt drop, not quite a slash cut but similar effect
If you want my opinion actually Blair Glenn was right working solo is stupid and dangerous you should get a job high enough where you can find a good ground worker teach him at your house lowering limbs whatever and then take him to the job and save your life

Yeah that grapple has been a real game changer. I thought I'd take it on and off, swapping with the bucket -- but it hasn't come off the machine yet :)
