The thing I love about this show is the thing that a lot of people criticize it for: some of the conversations that are had between characters (particularly kids) are very mature and sort of idealized. Some folks don't like that element, but I absolutely love it. Straight people get to see themselves depicted in the media constantly, and those depictions often include topics that straight folks in relationships will have to discuss. They get to see these discussion happen in a bunch of different ways, with a bunch of different outcomes. Queer folks don't get that. I love that this show's creators deliberately decided to err on the side of healthy discussions - overly idealized, maybe, but for a lot of queer folks, the conversations in this show may be the only time they ever see these topics discussed, and the creators chose to model good choices, empathy, and communication over cheap drama. They had no obligation to use their art for that, but they did, and I absolutely adore them for it. I'm a fifty year old gay man, and I'd have killed to have had something like this as an adolescent or young adult. I'm SO glad it exists.
I'm a few years younger than you, but I grew up during Section 28 in the UK and there was literally nothing like this when I was growing up. I completely agree with your sentiments!
@Ctrl-XYZ Nit just them, but yes. Someone important at Netflix certainly realised how important it could be to let Alice have so much creative control.
This was free serotonin for me back in 2022 when it first dropped. I'd got into the comics the previous Christmas and hadn't heard anything about the series until after it came out, and I was really impressed by it. Actual teenagers playing teen roles and just honest-to-God, wholesome, gay story-telling. I loved it and I hope you will too. 😊
in fairness, he did imply that the running scene required several takes, so it stands to reason he'd be more tired, as the guy sprinting ahead of the pack, than the actors whose only job is to hang back!
I enjoyed your reaction. You identified with characters like we ALL do. The projection is real 😂. From your comments so far, you are going to be so surprised by this show. All three seasons are AMAZING. ENJOY YHE RIDE. New subscriber 🥳
Loving your reaction so far but I thought I’d jump in and say American reactors have this weird thing about outside clothes on a bed, and wet clothes on a bed , I can’t guarantee but I’m pretty sure I would put money on you mentioning shoes in the sea at some point also.
Virtually every LGBTQ viewer has felt this. I honestly don't think Joe or Kit or Alice or anyone else connected to the show will ever fully grasp the magnitude of the impact it has had. They've probably saved lives.
She knows that, she was saying it was unfortunate that Elle WASN’T at a coed school that would have allowed her to stay with Tao, Charlie, and Isaac after transitioning.
@@normaladjacent In fairness it's hard to know what a reactor knows sometimes when they have to edit so much of it for RUclips. She edited out the reference to Elle being trans in this video so we don't get to see her react to that part. This reactor is doing fine, but I've seen some that just don't know when to shut up lol. They talk so much over the show that they miss entire plot points and end up being lost later on.

“This show’s creators” are Alice Oseman.
@Ctrl-XYZ Nit just them, but yes. Someone important at Netflix certainly realised how important it could be to let Alice have so much creative control.
@@Ctrl-XYZ Alice is the author of the books, the show itself is more than just her. I think that's what they mean.

Harry told Nick to invite "some cool people" to his party. So he was expecting Nick to invite more than one person.
Woohoo. Any new Heartstopper reactor is like red meat to the fandom. You're gonna see your subscriber count spike.
Yes she is
Joe isn’t actually a fast runner! He apparently had to keep asking the other actors to slow down because they were catching up to him lol

Did you spot Oscar-winning legend, Olivia Colman playing Nick's mum!!

thank you!! I’m so excited to watch the next couple of seasons
Prepare for the sadness in the later seasons

I wish I saw this show when I was a teen and struggling with coming out.

8:35 my exact reaction lol
Elle wasn’t at a coed school before. She was at the all-boys school. She’s trans.
