The girls were transformed into beauty queens - in just six weeks. Out went the tracksuits and bad language. In came poise, new life skills - and posh frocks. One went on to represent England in the biggest teen pageant in America - Miss Teen International - and most had their lives changed.

I love how they were all supporting each other, even if the whole thing is completely messed up.

this is a great opportunity for these young girls who otherwise would not have had this amazing opportunity. Taking care of yourself is a great thing and being pretty is not a crime. I used to go around the bingo halls as a youngster shorts, tee shirt fake tan loved it. Never won but at one time the photographer said I was the most natural that was nice to hear.
Been absolutely loving this series.

This seems pretty damaging to these girls self esteem...it basically reinforces superficial beauty and self judgement.
I completely disagree. As someone who used to compete in pageants when I was a child/teenager, I think the exact opposite is true. You learn self confidence, patience, respect, skill building, taking pride in your appearance (not beauty or your looks) and I could go on forever. I learned so much when I competed, I would do it again if I wasn’t 50!!!!😂

@@vc23 I’ve had a look online and there’s an article that says Rachel was the ‘last one standing’ and competed in the Miss Teen International final pageant in Chicago. So she won.

@@doxoxo779 true... but i tought they might had changed this a bit.- but i guess this series is from years back.. Now we have the SJW .... but hey - we have dog shows.. i have showed my dogs and offcourse the most stunning dog in the eyes of the judge will deff. win. :)
All pageants are also judging contestants on physical fitness as well. It’s an incredibly small percentage, but it still is taken into consideration. I don’t imagine you are very physically fit if you’re a little thick around the middle.
