I still love her and forever be her biggest fan. She has gone through so many hardships before, she can handle more obstacles ahead. Keep that fighting spirit, Demi!
@@eli-oh3oq Considering the fact this song was released from her debut album (shortly after her debut in Camp Rock) with lines such as "Some may say I need to be afraid of losing everything" while she was still on Disney I'd say the meaning of this song was ahead of it's time
리아 りあLIA But UNLIKE a lot of Disney songs about loving yourself (like Selena’s “Who Says”) Demi is actively shading Hollywood by calling it and its culture fake and not “real”, especially with this vid thats very obviously side-eyeing the paparazzi and people trying to change her “image” to be more appealing. Is it a revolutionary never been done before concept? GOD NO, but it was ahead of its time in the context of her being a 15 year old disney star fresh off of camp rock in a company known for heavily controlling and manufacturing its star’s “image”, so her calling it out in that context was ahead of its time. The main point is: La La Land is a fucking bop
She’s actually heavily inspired by Paramore. If you find the videos she used to do with Selena, she said it there. Even the cover art of this album was an ode to Paramore.
“I’m no super model. I still eat at Ronalds” hits hard after the Ellen interview where she admitted the team she had at this time hid food from her, wouldn’t let her eat fruit, and made her eat a watermelon as a birthday cake.
Ellen said that her team used to check her room backstage every time she would do an interview at her show to make sure there was no sugar there...that’s insane
not to force her to lose weight but because she has a binge eating disorder. if the food around her is not restricted she could literally die from a binge eating episode (stomach rupture)

I am here 15 years later and still come back to this song all the time. This song is a MASTERPIECE.Honestly, like the writing, the production, the lyrics, the SET, the artistic direction, and Demi. It's soo good.
Sometimes it's fucking weird for me to be over 30, because I still remember the day I decided to wear converse-ish shoes to my dress in a birthday party and was called an inconsiderate satanist for it. I mean, that shit's not flying today. People got internet and learned that there are bigger problems than shoes and dresses, I guess. I dunno, I am just so fucking confused by humans and their ways. Young kids today seem to have it both much easier and much harder. Not that teens arent scolded for wearing the wrong shoes these days too, but I have a feeling its much rarer now.
It stuck with you because you think you’re unique, you don’t follow the crowd, etc. you think you’re somehow better than people because you’re ‘different’, even though you’re not. This line in the song is so cringey. She’s so obviously trying to stand out from the crowd and thinks she’s quirky for wearing sneakers with a dress 🤣 whoopdy doo.
@@halcyonsikes7018 oh yeah, I’m soooo sure you were called an “inconsiderate satanist” for wearing sneakers and a dress. Yep, that TOTALLY happened. Maybe in your head. Give me a break. You were definitely one of those kids in high school that didn’t fit in, had no friends, so you tried to be extra different to stand out because you didn’t wanna look like everyone else. You thought you were more special than everyone else because they all dressed the same. But you’re not special, and not unique. Sorry. You were just a social reject.
can we take a moment to appreciate the composition of this piece? the opening guitar chord progression, the descending minor triads in the chorus as the chords follow a smooth descent pattern, the way the drums start slow and low but go to a bouncy beat, and then goes to a smooth flowing ballad and back to bouncy while letting the opening chords play unaltered. its a beautiful piece and has tons of effort clearly put into it by the composer
I don’t know anything super technical about music so this is super interesting to me but I can just tell this song is so well put together and the guitar and bass are SO good
just saying, sounds weird to attribute the styles of songs of one girl being better than others, when in reality they probably have little to no correlation because each song was made by the same/different varying producers.
Goggalor Goggalor lol idk... I personally think it’s not too wild of a concept to say the songs produced for one girl under Disney were better than those of another. It’s a really easy thing to have an opinion about. Each girl obviously had varying styles attributed to them, which is exactly what makes it so easy to choose a favorite among their music, whether they wrote it or not. I’m honestly still slightly confused by your point here. Seriously not trying to be rude, but I guess I just disagree? And it’s cool if you do too, obviously.
Demi is the best artist to come out of Disney. She was like 16 when she dropped this album and the talent leaves me speechless..pop rock is totally her sound and I wish we got more music like this from her. All her music after this album was good too, but this song and album specifically just speak to me on an entire different level than any other music she has released.
I feel sorry for myself too . my childhood literally stopped being fun in 2016 😭 i remember 2010-2015 , I enjoyed the music but 90s/2000s is better to me

+Thomas Hicks in the discription it says confident album is now that is wierd because this video was made back then when confident wasn't even a song!?
Floral Christy honestly speaking, in terms of vocals, Sel is far from the ‘strongest’ singer. and compared vocally to her against Demi, Sel is again a far margin... maybe as a ‘huge’ star that disney produced i would put Sel there in that category.
Demi was telling us know back then that’s Hollywood isn’t always glitz and glamour it’s definitely a place where your mental and physical health has to be strong to sustain the constant pressure throw your way Demi voice has always been my personal fav so glad she’s doing well and still making amazing music
You really think she's "doing well"? We must have different definitions of that. She sings to ghosts and talks about aliens, and has completely changed who she is which makes this song sad actually.
I was like 10 when this came out and now 17 wtf?! How has it been 7 years! At least demi is still the same. And more healthier. Bless Demi freaking Lovato!
Can’t believe she was so unhappy and suffering so much at this time 😭 She’s such a inspiration for getting through it all, I’ll forever thank Demi for being such a great part of my childhood❣️

people keep saying that she changed. she really didn't she just got more mature and more comfortable with her body because back then she had he eating disorder and now she is comfortable with her body and she will express through her music. nothing is wrong is that.🙄
Truth. I wish everyone will understand. She's the same, people change when it comes to growing up and being more serious. She feels she's sexy, then she wants everyone to know how "Confident" she is. Logic
This just makes me sad knowing that behind all those smiles and behind all the happiness cameras show she was sad and depressed... I understand how it feels to feel alone so it breaks my heart to here about what’s going on with her:/ LOVE YOU DEMI! Stay strong
Truth like wth I definitely sang McDonald's and heard Ronalds so I kept playing it back and I'm like no no no that's not that way that's supposed to go, but even her lips line up with "at Ronalds" but I could swear its supposed to be "at McDonald's"
@Sam Thank you for saying this. Addiction isn't as easy as simply stopping and never going back. Your body becomes dependent on it and you get insane withdrawals and cravings. Just like how she'll always have bipolar disorder, depression, her eating disorder. She'll always have to fight for herself with her addiction as well. She's done so well. Hopefully now she'll keep good people around her and won't ever overdose again. She deserves to be happy and healthy.
Wow never realized the cast of sonny is in this video!! Also Demi has a serious knack for putting emotion, attitude, and feeling in her lyrics. Seriously, this video, get back, here we go again, and prolly more (I’m on a demi run rn)-all the clips of just her singing really make get into the lyrics and make u hear the song more. Love it
I always believe Demi was meant to be a rockstar, but she has turned into a popstar now. She would've gone into the same list as Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson, Michelle Branch and Ashlee Simpson.
Nathan J I think it was because it was different. This was when Demi was beginning her rock stages in Disney channel and other actors were all doing pop. It has the im not like other girls vibe, but we were all like that before and understand now that every girl is special and different no matter what she does but this song was and always will be a bomb ass song people are so annoying actually
pointing out that girls, especially during the mid 2000s, had the "i'm not like other girls" complex is not to try to tear girls down. i had that complex when i was this age. acknowledging it, educating yourself about why one has/had it and getting rid of it is healthier and more feminist than not mentioning it or pointing it out at all. most girls that make memes with it used to be the exact same so i don't see a problem with it. y'all just have a problem with any slight criticism. plus demi lovato STILL TO THIS DAY has not outgrown the "i'm not like other girls" phase lmao

She has one of the most incredible vocal chords and breathing technique ever. Like, she can hold those high notes. Her voice is super powerful. Just like her personality. I still love her and forever be her biggest fan. She has gone through so many hardships before, she can handle more obstacles ahead. Keep that fighting spirit, Demi!
yes yes!!

The message behind this song is so ahead of its time.
리아 りあLIA really.
@@eli-oh3oq Considering the fact this song was released from her debut album (shortly after her debut in Camp Rock) with lines such as "Some may say I need to be afraid of losing everything" while she was still on Disney I'd say the meaning of this song was ahead of it's time
Lol calm down mate it’s 2008 not 1912
리아 りあLIA But UNLIKE a lot of Disney songs about loving yourself (like Selena’s “Who Says”) Demi is actively shading Hollywood by calling it and its culture fake and not “real”, especially with this vid thats very obviously side-eyeing the paparazzi and people trying to change her “image” to be more appealing.
@@gummyfang WOW you didn't have to snap so hard sis! 👏👏
She defiantly could have been in a band , like Paramore
Why would u be in some band if u can solo sing?
Zoltán Katona hayley from paramore can sing as good as demi can, she could sing solo if she wanted to...
Woahhh 😱😱😱 creepy LMAO I was listening to Paramore rn and I thought of Demi Lovato because of them
She’s actually heavily inspired by Paramore. If you find the videos she used to do with Selena, she said it there. Even the cover art of this album was an ode to Paramore.
Her fav band is paramore btw
15 years and this still goes hard
“I’m no super model. I still eat at Ronalds” hits hard after the Ellen interview where she admitted the team she had at this time hid food from her, wouldn’t let her eat fruit, and made her eat a watermelon as a birthday cake.
She was no supermodel but she was restricted more than they are. Despite her lyrics.
How sad and looking at her Starbucks order like seriously how rude
Ellen said that her team used to check her room backstage every time she would do an interview at her show to make sure there was no sugar there...that’s insane
She also has a history of eating disorders...
not to force her to lose weight but because she has a binge eating disorder. if the food around her is not restricted she could literally die from a binge eating episode (stomach rupture)
Demi should come back stronger then ever with this style of rock music, it's what fit's her the best

“Who said I can’t wear my converse with my dress” always stuck with me.
literally I wear black converse with a bodycon black dress and think of this every time
Omg I think about this all the time too, especially when I wanna just wear something I like that others might not like
Sometimes it's fucking weird for me to be over 30, because I still remember the day I decided to wear converse-ish shoes to my dress in a birthday party and was called an inconsiderate satanist for it.
THE VOCALS THOOOO DAMN they've been talented since the beginning
can we take a moment to appreciate the composition of this piece? the opening guitar chord progression, the descending minor triads in the chorus as the chords follow a smooth descent pattern, the way the drums start slow and low but go to a bouncy beat, and then goes to a smooth flowing ballad and back to bouncy while letting the opening chords play unaltered.
its a beautiful piece and has tons of effort clearly put into it by the composer
I don’t know anything super technical about music so this is super interesting to me but I can just tell this song is so well put together and the guitar and bass are SO good
Can we also appreciate the piano at 3:11 is so freaking genius
@@codezero7981 agreed. It snuck past me tho and I didn't realize it was staccato piano and not guitar
not to mention those vocals
finna say it, demi had the best disney bops outta all of 'em
finna say it, none of these girls wrote their own music
Goggalor don’t matter to me. I got my bops, they got paid, as did the writers and producers.
just saying, sounds weird to attribute the styles of songs of one girl being better than others, when in reality they probably have little to no correlation because each song was made by the same/different varying producers.
