Thanks for the review. The *Hero 565* is sturdy, lightweight and has a smooth, wet nib-ideal for writing long letters. The sac is smallish so I sealed the barrel breather and silicone-greased the thread to make a large-capacity eye dropper. I wound a few threads of plumber's white PTFE tape around the thread but I'm keen to find 'O' rings skinny enough not to bulge and impede the cap when a pen is screwed together.
I never thought of doing that because I don't like eyedropper pens. But there is no doubt this pen is an amazing writer. Specially considering its price.
Thank you for this video, Paolo. I hope you feel better soon and your voice returns. I own a Hero 565 and I agree, it is a good pen and very inexpensive. I was concerned about the filling system because when I bought a Hero 616 the converter did not work very well. However, the converter in the 565 actually works as it should. I am perfectly happy with it. I can say that I don't have any scratches on my pen from the cap. The pen performs well, in my opinion. You were right, it does look similar to the Sheaffer pen although I don't believe it was an attempt to copy the Sheaffer. This is the best Hero pen I have tried.
I feel great now. Just my voice keeps failing. And I agree. One of the best Hero I used (the nib of the H718 is better but that pen is more expensive). And very very inexpensive.
Is 565 smaller then 616? I like my 616 but I'm looking for smaller fountain pen.
@@rrn7769 Hello T Ca. My Hero 616 is 132mm long when capped. The Hero 565 is 133mm long when capped. Uncapped the 616 measures 125mm. The 565 is 116mm uncapped.
The 616 barrel at its widest point measures 10mm in diameter. The 565 measures 11mm in diameter. However at the grip section the 616 is 8mm in diameter whereas the 565 is 10mm. The difference is quite noticeable and the 616 feels the slimmer pen.
Hope this helps.
Thank You for this very presize information.
I do love this type of pen, I like slip caps for quick writing and I like a hooded nib for style and to keep the nib from drying. I will have to put this one on my list that just keeps getting longer and longer. 😁
I think you will not regret. And this one is really inexpensive.
Paolo, thanks for this video. I have 2 of them, a burgundy and a black and I love them. Like you I am not crazy about the filling mechanism. It takes about 20 pumps to get a full fill. Over the 3 months of use I have had no scratches on the section.
Thanks for the comment. It is interesting to know your pens are not scratched. Maybe my particular pen has some problem with the inside of the cap that scratches (lightly) the section.
OdE Have you tried waxing the clutch springs on the inside of the cap? It’s my usual procedure for pens with cap clutches. Makes it smoother to cap and uncap too.
@Johan no, I didn't. I never thought of doing that. Now it ia out of ink and clean I may polish it and than apply wax inside. Thanks for the tip.
@@OdE-ObjectosdeEscrita A friend of mine spreads 2 coats of clear nail polish on the tangs inside the cap. She has had no issues in over three years.
@@danielste-marie779 thanks. Another interesting tip. I always keep a little container of clear naik polish in my repair box for pens but I never thought of aplying it there. Useful tip!
Thank you Paulo for the review. A nice pen with some nice design aspects , i particularly like the barrel at it's base where it becomes square like a Sheaffer PFM and the cap is also Sheaffer like . The section is interesting to and could be compared to a parker 61 but this pens is nicely designed in it own right .
I hope you feel better soon my friend you should rest your voice , take care.
Thanks for your concern. I was ill for a couple of days but I am ok now for some time. But even now, almost 2 weeks later, my voice didn't recover completely.
I had a grey one and was very satisfied with it. But recently, I found the pen spills ink if it was left for a while as the nib down. It was otherwise a very nice pen. Is there anyone who experienced the same?
I have this pen unused for a long time. Maybe it is time to re-ink it and find out if there is any fail of the materials throughout this time.
@@OdE-ObjectosdeEscrita Probably it is an isolated incident. I have another pen that spills ink. So two pens spill ink among 20 pens.
Which hero model is the smallest?
I am not sure. I am no Hero specialist and I don't really know the answer to that question.
Hero 221 is the thinnest that I’ve seen
